  1. I'm glad you all find this so funny, but I am serious. First, lets not kid ourselves- I believe that some people do leave the balcony door open. Some for part of the day, and I'm sure some do so all night long.

If that's the case, and it has resulted in discomfort in other staterooms, I would have to imagine at least some of those people would have complained about their A/C not working. And if they did, don't you think somewhere along the way it would have been reported by engineering when they checked it out that it was because someone else had their balcony door open?

I complained about the heat one night, they came to our cabin and checked it out, and left. About an hour later it cooled down. I have no idea what caused it, they never contacted us about it. They may have found out it was caused by someone leaving the door open. As long as the problem was solved they didn't need to tell us.

  2. Here's a revelation for you.

Itinerary and ports can CHANGE at anytime for whatever reason Celebrity chooses to use.

    It's in your cruise contract.

If losing one port (not even losing an overnight - just a matter of hours!) on a 10+ day cruise is THAT important to you, then perhaps a land-based vacation going to the ports YOU select would be more suitable.

You'll have complete control of your vacation and you can go wherever you like, whenever you like.

I didn't find anything in the cruise contract stating that I couldn't complain about it, or did I miss that.

  3. There are limo companies that are more reasonable than others. This is our second cruise out of Galveston and we're booking a limo again. Our cost for a party of 4 with pick up at our hotel near the airport to the ship and back to the airport is around $400 this includes port charges and tips. This is for an SUV, it seems high but when ship transfers are $47 per person each way I'm willing to pay $6 extra per person for a private ride. And yes, I can't believe they haven't made it easier to get between the airports and the ports. Add to that the fact that the port charges all shuttle, taxi, and limos $20 every time they pull in to pick up or drop off cruise passengers and this gets passed on to us. This may be the last cruise we take out of Galveston.

Wow, the last time I took a taxi to go from my motel to the port they charged me $15.00. I guess the cab company lost $5.00 on my fair.

  4. Cruises with to many kids are much more fun then cruises with to many whiny seniors. With kids you have active parents around the ship contributing to the fun with seniors you have clogged halls piss and moan attitudes that everyone is rushing them. That is until it's time to disembark all of a sudden they all move like gazelles to exit. Love kids dislike seniors.

Some day you will be one, and then you can stay at home.

  5. Royal has a separate check-in for suite passengers and separate check-in lines for D+ and D. Bad analogy. Customer service is customer service. Everyone's problem/concern should be equally important. I applaud the people that have posted and said they would not stand in a separate line even if their status allowed it.

I applaud them too, it makes my line shorter.:D

  7. Galveston's cruise terminal lacks capacity to handle the influx of "new" cruise ships. It barely handles the current load. The cruise lines will offer transfers.

There are plenty of hotels near both Houston airports.

Bayport Terminal: 22 miles from HOU

(42 miles from HOU to Galveston Cruise terminal)

Bayport Terminal: 48 miles from IAH

(78 miles from IAH to Galveston Cruise terminal)

I usually drive in a day early and stay in a motel. What is available around the new Houston Terminal. Also what kind of cab service is available?

  8. In my experience, you describe the exception not the rule. The vast majority of kids are not obnoxious as in your examples. Perhaps these are the ones that stand out in your memory.

When I do see a teen acting in the way you've described and clearly without adult supervision, I immediately speak up and tell him/her to cut it out, that's unacceptable (I can't help myself) and that usually works (at least for the moment.) Perhaps it's the mother in me. I have reported unacceptable teen behavior to RCL staff, security and it's been taken seriously. Next time you come across such a situation, I encourage you to report the offending teens immediately and be proactive instead of stewing;).

For context, I cruise only during school breaks when the ships are overrun with children.

I never said I didn't report it, and I didn't say I was stewing. Using your standard it sounds like you are stewing right now.
