  1. Yesterday I managed to change my booking on Quantum from an 8 day Bahamas cruise to a 14 night Dubai to Singapore cruise, part of the Global Odyssey re-positioning cruise from NYC to Shanghai. I can relate to the difficulties mentioned, having to choose many options, a long wait to speak to an agent then getting cut off whilst on hold when the agent had to speak to a supervisor. Amazingly I got the same agent when I rang back which saved me having to start all over again. As an experienced RCI cruiser I know what I want when I book but I find it very difficult to get the information I need and it was only after 2 25 minute calls that I eventually got my booking sorted out. All very frustrating and unsatisfactory. I'm really missing the helpful friendly team in Addlestone who were always a pleasure to do business with. As a D + member I have a dedicated phone number to call but still end up talking to the hapless team in Guatamala. I can confirm that the £75 admin fee was waived. Very excited about the opportunity to now go on a new ship and an itinerary I have been wanting to do for a long time.

Penton what is your dedicated phone number in the UK for Diamond plus members

    Thanks

  2. As an earlier poster said - what about the speed?

From my on-board experience the free hour is great but only gives you enough time to look at one or two pages as you wait for the network to respond.

If everyone is on unlimited time I suspect this will only get worse.

    Any have experience to share?

People talk about Royals internet but none of then know how to do a SPEED check. I was on Adventure in June 3013 and was getting around 5mbs not to bad but when you are used to 60 to 100 mbs it is very slow.

  3. I'm assuming you used Choice Air ? I have used choice air several times and have been satisfied

    BUT

you really need to scrutinize their options well. We booked the option offered us to Rome.

Later on ,searching for ourselves, we discovered a one stop instead of 2 stops flight that was almost 3

hours shorter which for some reason wasn't listed .

They waved the change fee and we happily paid the extra $75 this flight cost.

Two other times the amount of time given for flight connections was waaay too short .

Less then 55 minutes was given so we booked different flights.

No choice air in the UK but they do have a travel department that your TA should be able to talk to.

  4. Thinking of going on the Adventure March 23 2014 which looks like would just be before dry dock. There's a great balcony guarantee rate right now. Any thoughts? Has anyone been on this ship lately? Will the ship look pretty worn? The itinerary is great and perfect for our schedule.

    Thanks! Sharon

We were on the ship the ship two weeks ago it is still spotless everything is clean and tidy but looking tired. In the windjammer and Viking lounge about 40% of the large double glazed windows are blown (all misted up) But our stateroom was immaculate with new carpets and a recovered suite. I would go back tomorrow.

  5. These were the amounts just before March 2013:

$5.00pp per day for Housekeeping Staff ($7.25 if in a GS or above)

    $3.75pp per day for Waiter

$2.15pp per day for Assistant Waiter

$0.75pp per day for Head Waiter

Total: $11.65pp per day ($13.90pp per day if booked in a GS or above)

This past March, the total was raised $0.35 per day.

On rccl it's on their website

Suite attendant: $7.25 USD a day per guest

Stateroom attendant: $5.00 USD a day per guest

Dining Room Waiter: $3.75 USD a day per guest

Assistant Waiter: $2.15 USD a day per guest

Headwaiter: $0.75 USD a day per guest

I think it varies from cruise line to cruise line though

This is $11.65 per person a day not $12 who gets the 35 cents.

Average people on a cruise 3000

    This is a $1000 a day

It is 7 million per year for the whole fleet.

    Who gets it?

  6. On our last cruise we paid our gratuities on our account and that seemed to work fine . We tipped the suite steward and head waiter and maitre d the suggested gratuity and a bit more . But our regular table waiter was awful so we did give him gratuity but only a small amount as we didn't feel he deserved it .

Some people may frown on this but I'm sorry he really did not deserve it !!

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

What are the suggested gratuities for the waiter, head waiter, assistant waiter, room steward.

    Thanks

  7. I haven't seen any but I plan to do that onboard the Oasis in 3 weeks. I hear descriptive like "slow as molassas" to "ok" and I'm a numbers kind of guy. If everything works out I will have a speedtest.net report sometime late on 2/23 or 2/24. Something like this:

Although I suspect not quite as fast.

The last time I did a speed test on RCL it was half a meg I would love 10% of what we recieve in the UK
