Smokers, like vapers, all have Main Character Syndrome.  Why can’t you people be alcoholics like the rest of us?  Alcohol has never harmed anyone, unlike smoking.

What makes you think we're not alcoholics?

Yes, they eliminated it several years back for various reasons, some of which pax would meander away from their port side smoking area to head towards the bar, and many inconsiderate smokers dropping their cig & cigar ashes onto the cabin balconies below.

Just to clear something up: there is no such thing as an inconsiderate cigar smoker!

    Let the flaming begin!

I'll try that when I call Cap't Club!

BTW, Fred's USMMA reunion is scheduled for the weekend after Labor Day when we are still aboard the Eclipse! Bummer!

Just ask the Captain to make a detour to the USMMA.  They have a dock there.  Shouldn't be a problem.   Again,  just mention my name!

I have reserved the 6:15 time slot for the 6 of us traveling together on the 8/28 Eclipse sailing. Only one has been confirmed in an email, the others are "in the cart" and keep getting bounced back every time I attempt to confirm those. I did get a message saying there is a conflict with one of those reserved times, but the date isn't specified. Any hints?

    Just mention my name!

On the wonderful Majestic, I enjoyed my Cohiba and Remy Martin deck seventeen aft, under the stars and warm breeze 🙂

You, my friend, sound like my type of person!  A Cuban Cohiba?  I was never into Cuban cigars.  I just don't think they live up to the hype!  My go to cigar is a "Leaf" by Oscar.  I have a bundle of them for my May cruise to Bermuda.  I can taste that Remy Martin now!  Do you drink VS, VSOP, or XO?  Three cruises ago, aboard NCL Breakaway, we were sitting in the Haven Bar one night and I said to my wife that once in my life I have to taste a Louis XIII cognac to see what the difference was between that and XO.  She said, "Why not tonight?"  I have never loved her more than at that moment! The bartender served it on a silver tray and served it in a crystal snifter.  It was a religious experience!  I've never tasted anything so smooth and warming in my life.  I even put off smoking my cigar for about two hours because I didn't want to spoil the aftertaste it left in my mouth!  I hope to repeat that one more time!

Enchanted doesn't, they turned it into an arcade... Bummer.  I think thats the direction most are going though unfortunately.

Im an avid cigar smoker and fully support cigar lounges on ships, but it doesnt surprise me they are reclaiming that real estate for something more profitable. We were on NCL a couple years ago and they had one but there was rarely anyone in there besides my son and me with the occasional cigarette smoker and they don't buy cigars from the lounge...

I've been on NCL Escape and Breakaway and it's always been packed!  I hate to see the industry going in that direction!

Kids on a Celebrity cruise AND in the Retreat?  I feel sorry for your fellow passengers who look for a peaceful experience in the retreat.  Leave the kids at home, then there's no problem with a babysitter.

I know I'm going to draw the wrath of a lot of people (Including Priscilla) but I don't think children belong on a Celebrity cruise.  Celebrity is a more "adult" cruise line.  There may be a kids club onboard, but there are no slides, no splash zone, no go carts, no roller coasters, no carousels, etc.  Maybe you should take your kids on a Royal, Norwegian, or Carnival cruise.  They'll have a much better time.  Just something to think about.

    Good day fellow Cruisecritics family.

I have researched this topic, but just wondering if anybody had a recent experience.  Will be on the Discovery next month and currently setting up a burial at sea for my Mom.  I purchased a biodegradable turtle (her favorite) urn and am bringing her death certificate and cremation info.  I want to also throw tulips and roses with her (also her favorites).  I have the understanding that Princess is very respectable and this is a private time.  I know I will be a mess, but she always wanted to go on a cruise.  We booked one for us to go with her, but she got sick and passed before our sail date.  So with that said, she will be going on her first cruise.  Thank you in advance for you thoughts and sensitivity.

That is respectful and wonderful.  This way Mom will be on a cruise for eternity.  I'm sure she would approve!

Thanks so much for your input.   It's fun when everyone participates, but honestly it's a lot easier leaving it at home, less baggage to lug through the airport.   I really appreciate your feedback, have a great evening!

You should dress the way you want to!  Personally I love to get dressed up.  I love wearing my tux!  I love it when my wife dresses formally.  If you want to get dressed up you should!  Don't let anyone talk you out of it.  It is your cruise!

I drink scotch AND dry Belvedere martinis, with olives not dirty.

And rum is what we give to 5 year olds in my family.

A Belvedere martini with olives (not dirty). You are speaking my language!  The trouble is after just two I run the risk of getting stupid!  Believe me, nobody wants that!  That is why I switch to rum, except at night when I drink cognac!

My friend and I might be willing to go for that with you! Find us at the martini bar most nights. We had a bartender do the flights just to show his skill and then hand out the martinis. We always got a couple. Might be the .25 tip I left him.

    Laura

Which sailing are you on.  I'm on the May 11th sailing.

Eclipse.  13 nights South America, leaving 5 weeks from Sunday🤩

I'm on Eclipse in May.  NY-Bermuda.  I was hoping we were on the same sailing so we could go together to the Martini bar and see him pour 18 at once!  I'd tip him a whole $1 for that!

I love wearing floor length evening gowns/formal outfits and DH "matches" my formality with a white  tux jacket or a dark tux jacket, with the dark tux trousers for Evening Chic.  After our Sept.  cruise  where we saw 3 other men (may have been more but we didn't see 'em) wearing tuxes, I (DW) figured only Alpha males wore tuxes.  (I was greatly surprised with our recent 21 days cruise over Christmas-NYE  when I saw more males wearing tuxes.  To those gents: Bless you for complimenting your escorts' formal dress!) Frequently, positive comments to DH from other  more formally dressed  females with relatively casually dressed escorts such as: "you look like James Bond"! puts a smile on my face. (And in some ways, those comments are a very sad commentary on their relationships with their significant others.). Wear what feels good to you and your travel-mate! 🙂

When my wife tells me I look like James Bond, I realize, I've succeeded!
