  1. TC, what I am saying is that I am skeptical about what Journeyfan was told by Miami. My experience with Regent Excursions (yes we mainly use their excursions) is most couples take at least one bottle of water. If Regent is not offering some type of reusable/refillable water container they will continue to hand out plastic bottles. They will not say to their excursion passengers sorry we have no water to provide you in any form. We have been provided metal bottles on other ships as well.  I am going to do some digging while I am still onboard.

  2. Journeyfan, if this information isn’t in your final cruise documents I don’t see how this is possible. Unless they are providing to every passenger reusable bottles, they would not let passengers go on an excursion without water. The Vero glass bottles are not only too big but breakable. Miami needs to get their act together in what they are telling customers.

  3. So.....I am the original poster. I am currently on Explorer but don’t have a lot of information yet. Let me provide my perspective on a few items. I respect the three posters who have tried the system. First, I did receive the Regent email that I posted prior to leaving and agree with TC that they should also put something in the final documents. There is no way the App can be downloaded with the current bandwidth on the ship. They had a session on it and the vast majority of the people who attended the session hadn’t downloaded the App. I haven’t tried it real time yet except during the demo, the number of excursions in which it is being tested is very small. I asked to see and hold the audio wi-fi box. Is it larger and bulkier than a whisperer box, yes. I held it, put the strap on my shoulder, walked around a bit and thought it isn’t bad and it really wasn’t heavy. My personal opinion is a tour guide looking to make money during their “season” is not going to refuse to use it if it is fully implemented. As stated above, you put your phone in airplane mode, open the App and press the number for your guide. I have asked the destination services director to get me more specifics on the manufacturer and specs of the system. He says he is working on getting me that information. When I receive it, I will post it here and the tech experts can go at it.

  4. Currently on Explorer, they are using plastic bottles for excursions and the gym. The Vero system glass bottles are provided in your suite (they fit in the fridge) and are used in the restaurants, bars, etc. I haven’t had any problem getting San Pellegrino in any restaurant.

  5. Poss, we live in Estero, so we are neighbors. We generally drive over to either the port or the airport. If you go over after rush hour its usually not too bad. The garage at the port is very convenient. The two times we sailed out of there the garage was right across the road from the boarding area for the ship.

  6. Poss, I just received this email this morning from Regent. Book select 2019 and 2020 voyages throughout the Caribbean by September 30, 2019 and enjoy 15% Savings on your all-inclusive cruise fare. The January 8 cruise is one of the eligible ones. You may want to look into this. I agree with the posters above, I would go and enjoy. It's easy for you to get to Miami and you will have a wonderful time. All the best.

  7. benzygirl, it appears based on this and your other post that perhaps you aren't using a travel agent that is experienced in Regent. I believe many posters here would highly recommend that not only due to their knowledge of Regent and the specific ships but also some nice rebates. Also if you haven't seen it there is an excellent sticky that Bill maintains entitled "SuiteGuru" that might also help you with your suite selection. If this is your first Regent cruise and you haven't booked yet you might also look at the "Member Referral Credit" thread which will save you some money as well. Happy travels on Regent, you will enjoy the experience  very much!

  8. Dave, you are correct, it is not that it is sold-out already, they haven't released any seats yet. To the best of my knowledge they won't be accumulating a wait list until destination services knows how many seats will be available and opens up booking.

  9. SantaFe, you have three choices, have your TA send it to you, call Regent and have them send it to you, or go to the RSSC website go to this cruise, click on Free Excursions, select a port other than the first of last port, click on "email all available shore excursions" and enter your email address

  10. Just received this regarding the Regent App for our upcoming cruise. I apologize if this was previously posted

but I don't recall seeing it:

Dear Valued Guests and Travel Partners,
During your upcoming cruise, we will be testing a new Regent Seven Seas Cruises mobile app, which will be utilized on select shore excursions throughout the cruise that will enable you to more easily hear the tour guide’s commentary through the comfort of your own smartphone and headset. To enjoy the benefits of this app, we encourage you to:

    • Bring your smartphone, headphones and chargers on your cruise and bring your smartphone and headphones along with you – fully charged – to your shore excursions. A full list of shore excursions that will utilize this app can be provided to you by the Destination Services desk on board.
    • Your tour guide will help you connect to the audio through the Regent Seven Seas Cruises app during the relevant excursions. For additional questions, please visit Destination Services on board.

I see pluses and minuses to this. I can see that the sound and availability of your own phone could be better. However (I'm sure the tech gurus will correct me here) we don't generally turn on our phones to roaming in the countries that

we are visiting. We use wifi and if necessary wifi calling. Although we could get a SIM card when visiting various countries that's a hassle and with my carrier to get unlimited coverage in every country is quite expensive. I believe to get the Regent APP we would have to get coverage from the local country???

Have to say, we've had a few problems on Regent-but nothing that would make us stop cruising them.  Every line will have a problem or two, many more, but what's also very important is how the line handles them--Regent does a great job in taking care of the problem.  Would I give Regent a 10, no but a high 8 or 9.  Plus we don't look for problems, when they happen--that's life on vacation.  Wish all my problems in life we're as simple as the ones I've had on Regent.  Regent knows you have choices, and I think that's why we enjoy Regent as much as we do.

    +1

  12. Before this latest round of new cruises added to the website, below the pricing it used to say "A savings of $X,XXX per person is available when arranging your own flights and transfers". This is no longer showing up. I know Portolan has sent an inquiry about several IT items with no response. I hope that someone from Regent can address this on our board. It's frustrating but you or your TA can call and ask how much the credit is, or start a "dummy" booking without airfare and you will see the cruise only fare. I believe they should fix this, it can't be that hard.

  13. Eager, I'm not sure that what Xerxes10 says is completely correct. If one books a cruise onboard then you are eligible for the "best price guarantee". I believe, but Xerxes would have to confirm, that the language he is quoting is from an email about an upcoming cruise and is touting the fact that one can take advantage of onboard savings 30 days in advance of boarding and then the best price guarantee comes into effect. (Xerxes, please correct me if I am wrong). So, I guess my question is did you book this trip onboard? If not, your TA may have to do a little arm twisting. If this is one of the Caribbean cruises that originally included Cuba I would think that's a strong argument.

  14. My manage booking is working fine for me. I am confused as to why you are having such problems? Did you save your booked cruise on your profile? If so, my previous directions from yesterday should get you to the information and you will see the classes and costs. I am on your cruise, so this is not speculation, generalization or estimate, I have them in front of me.

  15. Snorkle lover, if you go to the RSSC website, I assume you have saved your cruise on that site. Go into that cruise and click on manage my booking, under customize my voyage you will see Culinary Arts Kitchen Classes, click on customize and you will see the dates of the cruise, click on a date and you will see the classes and prices. It looks like they are available on your cruise at this point. Yes, I know it's a few days before the "excursions" are available. If you want to sign up I would suggest you do it soon as they fill up.

  16. jjs217, welcome to Regent!! Perhaps others have seen something different, but my experience with the pre cruise land/hotel tours was that there were not additional excursions to sign up for, but there is free time available. Also, if indeed you just booked you may want to look at the Member referral credit thread. If you complete the form within 14 days of your deposit you will get a $250 credit towards the cruise you just booked. Look for the Seven Seas Ambassador program on the RSSC website. I'm sure you will enjoy Regent!

  17. Jim, you didn't ask about this but if you haven't done this look at the Member referral credit thread. If you complete the form within 14 days of your deposit you will get a $250 credit towards the cruise you just booked. Look for the Seven Seas Ambassador program on the RSSC website. My email is on that thread if you wish to consider this. Enjoy Regent, it is terrific and this board is particularly helpful!

  18. We did two Celebrity Aqua class cruises, which were enjoyable, tried Regent and never looked back. Our sixth Regent cruise is soon! As far as the excursions, we have generally found them to be fine, not great, but interesting and the guides mostly good. Regent is starting to offer small group excursions at an additional cost. If you are in a popular cruise destination you will notice that the number of passengers on Regent excursions is smaller than the much larger ships. As TC2 has often said, once you are onboard everyone is treated the same no matter which level of suite you are in. I second the recommendation for an experienced Regent travel agent. As an aside, we just did the Tauck Machu Picchu and Galapagos trip that sailed on the Silver Galapagos and it was terrific. We are all so blessed to have these choices available to us.
