  1. I'd like a to mail a postcard back home while in Nassau. Apparently, there is a a post office on E Hill St. How safe is the area? Or should I just not venture past the touristy part of E Bay St.?

Also, is there a Starbucks store in a well-traveled touristy part of Nassau?

You can mail your post card right on the ship.

You can ask if they mail from the island first.

    Enjoy

  2. Don't wait! Summer is one of the busiest times of year. There will NOT be anything available at the airport or even 60 days before flying.

Best to just bit the bullet and protect yourself now.

    Valid point.

    Calling the TA Monday.

    Thanks

    Denise

  3. derrick22;

Not sure where you are going, but if it's Europe, there is a good chance it will be on Delta or Delta partner such as Air France.

If the airline will allow you to upgrade now to economy comfort, I would jump on it. Those seats typically go fast, and waiting until the departure day could get you bumped by a ff on their system.

Yes we are doing the Viking Grand European Cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest.

I will call the TA to upgrade now.

    Thanks

  4. Hi all. we have just returned from our cruise on the Celebrity Silhouette. If anyone is interested, I have just started my review and it will take some time to add all the photos, dailies, etc. Here is the link:

I wish each of you a happy holiday season, a Merry Christmas, and a prosperous New Year full of fun travel adventures!

    Jerry

Thanks for the link to your Celebrity review. Just as excellent as this review. Waiting for you to finish.;)

I have an open booking for Celebrity and reading your review only makes me want to jump ship from Royal Caribbean. Most likely we will do that in March 2016.

Thanks again and keep the reviews coming. Where are we going next?

  5. I spent a couple of days thinking whether I wanted to post to this thread. DW and I returned from a Christmas Market cruise about 3 weeks ago now. Without a doubt, the worst part of the entire trip was the transcontinental flights to and from Amsterdam...

Not sure I can name the airline so I'll just keep it to what I've already said. By the way, on the flight over they were offering economy comfort at the gate for $140. No such offer on the return flight. Like I said, on the return flight economy comfort looked no different than economy.

    Thank you for posting this.

I didn't go into this blindly.

Our last transatlantic flight in 2008 was taken care of by the land tour company.

Other than being stuffed in the middle of row the flight times and layovers were fine.

I believe economy comfort is wider and has more leg room.

Can't decide if I want to upgrade now or take my chances at the airport.

    We are flying in July.

I wish I had an idea what airline Viking uses from NY.

Thanks for being honest. We all need a dose of reality.

    Denise

  6. Derrick, are you referring to upgrading to first-class? If so, you will likely not be able to do that thru the airline as the tickets are purchased in bulk and so you have to go thru Viking. The only upgrade we have been able to do when we use Viking Air is to Economy Comfort.

    Becki

Not first class but economy comfort.

Is it worth the extra $900 a person?

    Thanks

    Denise

  7. We upgraded on our Atlanta-Amsterdam flight two weeks ago, and it was $124 each. A day before flying back I checked and upgrades for Amsterdam-Atlanta were $99. When we checked in at the airport, they were down to $94.

    FuelScience

    Did you use Viking Air?

The cost to upgrade is $900 through Viking.

Can I call the airline directly and upgrade myself when I get the tickets?

    Thanks

  8. We have used Viking air several times and have been very pleased.

The flights have not been non-stop.

We use EWR (Newark) and have always had to change planes.

We were going to Ukraine 2 years ago and the return was to JFK. When I checked on one of the booking sites, all Odessa to EWR flights required a second change. We gladly accepted the JFK 1 stop return.

We are flying out of EWR, and I was wondering what airline Viking used?

    Thanks

  9. I've had the card since 2006 and have gone on 2 free cruises. Only had to pay port charges.

I have enough points for another free cruise but can't use it on Quantum. :(

I will use some points for OBC, which is not a good return on points but I don't want to lose them.

I use the card for everything and don't carry a balance.

    The card works for me.

  10. I've had RCI stock for over 10 years. :(

Years ago while you were able to combine discounts it was a good deal.

Now we haven't been able to use it for years. We are diamond members and use the $225 balcony discount so no $100 OBC for us.

In my opinion being a shareholder should have no impact on others discounts.

I am going to try to use it on our upcoming cruise since our DS and his friend are coming and staying in an inside room.

    After that I'm selling it.

  11.

I am thinking this will work as it swivels to accommodate the location of the plug and has 2 USB ports as well.

I love this charger. It has served my family well.

I have the original which is 1 amp and am looking into getting the 2.1 amp since I have a tablet now.

I will bring an adapter since we will be in Amsterdam pre-cruise.

  12. Hi Denise. There are numerous possibilities and combinations for flights. We found the best deal for our dates and booked months ago. We are flying out a week before our cruise. Our flight on Air Canada is Toronto - Montreal - Brussels and the same on our return flight and yes we booked this ourselves as we always do. We have turned this into a 23 day adventure visiting 5 countries, basically doing a circle that starts and ends in Brussels.

I certainly understand the constant planning....I am definitely a planner as well. It is almost as much fun as the actual vacation. Glad to answer any questions as you continue your planning. Four more sleeps before we head off on our trip :D. Happy planning!

Thanks and have a wonderful trip.

    Denise

  13. Cruisinskier- Can you answer a few questions?

Are you flying direct or do you have a stop over? Did you book your self?

We don't leave for another year but I am constantly planning.

I am trying to figure out if we have a stopover in London so I would need pound sterling or not.

    Thanks

    Denise

  14. We've done two river cruises now using one carry-on bag and a briefcase each. I highly recommend the packing technique that's shown in the YouTube Video at the link below (assuming that the board lets it go through. If it doesn't, just google "pack for weeks in a carry-on" and it should pop right up. Another CC person posted the video over a year ago, and it impressed me. We used it last year and it really worked well for us.

Thank you for the link. I was impressed. I'm going to have to try it.
