  1. What happens process wise if we bring two sailings worth of bottled water to our first boarding?

We decided to get a ride to port, so we won't even have the option to put anything in the car until boarding 2.   Will it be an issue or can we show them that we're b2b and bring it on?

Again idk if they care any differently between water or alcohol but we don't drink....just want some bottles for cruise 2.

  2. Glad you got a reply....I had asked for input but got none. I heard of people using it on board but am not willing to risk it.  ....I did buy s9me for a different cruise line using them to pay for the trip. That is fairly easy.

Royal Caribbean Discounted Gift Cards **Long Post**

I had a hard time finding useful information about the AARP discounted gift certificates (GC) for Royal Caribbean (RCL) so I’m sharing here. This post is specifically in reference to the gift certificates available from AARP for a 10%.

The confusion I'm having is because I believe I've seen people discussing using them onboard towards the ob account.

I know the rule is the cruise fare....but that's why im asking people for their experience.

Our Symphony OTS stops at PC for a few hours.  We'd like to tour the space center.  Ship excursion or is there transportation available from PC to the Space center?

We did this and a few notes; it's a very short visit as I think the sc closes at 5. Times may vary of course.

Its a whirlwind visit but our dd hadn't ever been so im glad we went.

  5. Please help me understand what I can and cannot do with AARP gift cards.  I keep avoiding purchasing them because I don't want to be stuck.

It states they can only be used toward fare on a newly booked cruise, but I know people have spoken about using them to pay ob accounts.

So are they useable on board but not through their site for pre cruise purchases?  Is that accurate?  Is it really based on the person you're dealing with in all cases (like if I wanted to pre pay gratuities on the phone)?

Cruise is fully paid so all that's left in onboard expenses and POSSIBLY drink packages if we cave in.

  6. Doing some pre-cruise math. Anyone know how much the current going rate (approximately, even??) For:

    Bottle of water

Glass and or can of soda...whichever they serve

    Virgin drink such as Colada

Specialty location "Americano" type coffee (like a pay as you go cup of non dining room coffee from whichever places sell it.  I would typically throw in some flavored syrup if they had sugar free).

It's a 9 nighter and I cannot imagine us "needing" a drink package but trying to math it.

It is actually quite a hike.  Uphill for about 2 miles and then you take the waterfalls down.

Love how you say you can take the waterfalls down...lmao...that is unless my clumsy butt falls down the entire way. Lol

Our first time there we took a shore excursion that got us around town, a museum and a rum factory.  We just wanted to see the area.

At the port, there is a pool, shops, bars with no need to leave to leave.

Was it very scenic? I feel like the ohotos aren't helping.

  9. None of the tour offerings are really grabbing me. Is there something close to or right off the ship to see/do just to be able to say we were off the ship?

Never been there before and am not into many of the activities for which tours are offered (snorkel, zip line, and the rest).  Typically ideal for my first visit somewhere would be an island drive just to get an overall look around.   Thus far the photos I've seen aren't making me really excited for that either.

Thinking save the money? RCCL is doing a tour via "classic car" but idk if their idea of a classic car is like a 57 caddy or a 70s pinto. Lol  any experience?

Couldn't sleep last night so at 12 on the dot I hit the app.  First, it went from chevk in opens May 1st to check in being closed.   Then I moved to the website which never changed from ...opens May 1st.

Back to the app and after another couple minutes it let me proceed.

Yes.  Ocean World.  It’s a very nice aqua park with sea lion, shark and dolphin shows.  There is a nice beach area and fresh water pools.  There are 2 (smallish) aviaries and 3 separate “performance” venues.  There is a nice, big aquarium full of lots of fish and coral in which you can snorkel.  It is a bit on the pricey side if you use the Royal Caribbean excursion (~$200 PP with taxes, etc) but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Our excursion included interactive experiences with the sea lions and the sharks.  There was also a package that included dolphins. Note:  the Royal Caribbean excursion included the buffet lunch which would be an additional cost if you went on your own.

Ocean World is not far from the port (~15 minutes by bus) so it might be less costly to do this “on your own” as opposed to going through Royal.  I simply do not know how much admission is, if you were to buy it individually.

My main concern in doing Ocean World on my own would be the time.  It’s actually a pretty big park with lots to do and our ship departed PP pretty early (I think 3:00 ??) so just be sure you give yourself enough time if you do this on your own.

    Thank you for your feedback.

@RFerrington was just there and went to "Aqua World", a sea life park that she spoke highly of if that's of interest to you. Maybe she'll chime in.

I'm not sure if being pooped on this morning by a bird (and nearly missed by another) is a good sign or a bad sign....    this time its a b2b so keep your fingers crossed for me.  Lol

  13. Just got the email I was expecting.  In place of Labadee (for June) going to somewhere in the Dominican Republic.

Questions are: how long does it usually take for RCCL to switch shore excursion offerings on theire website?  Still shows Labadee and, since I've never been to DR I have no clue what do see/do.

Also....what to see/do in Puerto Plata, Dominican Rep?
