  1. Inside connecting balconies? I believe OP wanted to know about connecting doors in balcony cabins. Insides may have connecting doors, but they definitely don't have balconies. ;)

What I meant by inside was that there is a door connecting the rooms inside the rooms, not that they are inside rooms, LOL. The screen shot shows her the rooms she wants to know about. :)

  2. Thanks Pia for the info!

Ann, I am looking for first-hand confirmation by people who've actually been in the connecting rooms. My mother-in-law has talked to Princess, but the agents she has talked to haven't known for sure if the room connected by the balcony or an inside door. Also, the diagrams for the Royal that are currently on the Princess website don't show connecting rooms or even which cabins will accommodate 3 or 4 people.

    Thanks!

Susan, I have no first hand experience but I took this screen shot for you. It is of the Royal Princess. The only inside connecting balcony rooms seem to be forward on Aloha and Baja decks only.

  3. Haha I love this! Last year I asked my parents to join us (each paying our own way) on an Alaskan cruise (this summer) and told them I'd rather have memories with them than squabble over an inheritance. I'm hoping they catch the cruise bug and spend away hahaha. They just bought new luggage...I'm thinking that's a good sign! :)

This is so true! My parents died with a pile of money in the bank. Not a huge pile but significant enough. It made me so sad that they didn't travel and have experiences that they could have afforded. You can't take it with you! Unless you have a disabled child that truly depends on you financially for their welfare, I say go!!! Spend like the wind! Have a great time and make memories :)

  4. I've been following along with this thread and have read every post (only posted once myself, early on). I can't help but think that Cle-guy and Arizona just have not experienced what others are complaining about. They are failing (in my opinion) to realize and recognize that. It seems obvious to me that the volume levels being complained about are not fleet wide or even consistent cruise to cruise on any particular ship. What they have heard with their own ears on their own cruises was acceptable to them and it may be also to many others here who are complaining that the volume on their cruise was completely unacceptable, and probably was.

For myself, I love music but in a social setting like the dining room, atrium and bars near these areas I prefer it to be ambient in the background so that I can converse with others without shouting to be heard or straining to hear their voices. In the night clubs, theaters, etc. have at it! Party, dance, sing along.....that is what those venues are for.

I think the idea of people downloading the free decibel apps on their phones and taking some readings is a great idea. Sometimes pictures speak louder than words.

I'm hoping for a peaceful relaxing time on our first X cruise in May. Here's hoping!!!

  5. Hi all,

We have been reading the comments on this thread, as well as the other thread. While we don't want to comment on the demographics discussion, as well as who we are attracting, we can say that we are looking into the music issue to determine if and why it is too loud. Apologies that we can't comment any further (at least for now), but wanted to at least let everyone know that we aren't ignoring these discussions, and are in fact looking into this.

Thank goodness! We are going in May on the 10 night Med cruise on Reflection. This will be our 1st Celebrity cruise. If the reports of the deafening music prove true it will likely be our last with Celebrity. Nobody wants to shout to be heard and if you can't carry on a conversation in the public areas you might as well stay in your room. No $$ in that for Celebrity.

It's hard to tell because you didn't quote anyone but if you are referring to what I posted I found a way to get to it. Follow the instructions above. Just so you know, it took me weeks to read my way through it.
  7. OK. I now know which thread this was. I myself posted to it and also personally know the guy who started it. I never did follow thru to the end and after 5 years not going back.

When I do my LIVE there won't be any pix. so it might be sort of boring. ;)

Pia, do you know if he is ok? I've often wondered. And I've actually checked a few times to see if he ever started posting on CC again and it appeared (as of the last time I checked....been awhile now) that he had not. I just found it incredibly sad. I could feel his depression building to the end. I hope he's alright.

  8. Silly question.......I'm NOT trying to be rude, I promise! :)

I see this post often. What does it matter if the bed is by the balcony or by the bathroom? Is it because the hallway can be a little loud sometimes? That is the only reason I can think of. We have been on several cruises and I can't remember where the bed has been. Also we are booked in a balcony room on the S class in March. Should I be concerned where my bed is? Is there something I don't know. Please advise!

    Thanks!

I prefer the bed to be away from the balcony. That way if one of us is sleeping and the other wants to be on the balcony we don't disturb each other as much going in and out.

  9. I really appreciate the help from those who sincerely tried to answer my question. I am not as experienced as most others on this board. The reason I asked this question was to see what options I had in case I did not get the configuration that I was looking for. As mentioned earlier, even the celebrity representative said he had no idea how to tell which have balconies near the bed...

That being said, I have a healthy sense of humor and found the toilet on the balcony to be quite funny and lighthearted:)... However, the "You have got to be kidding me" comment was quite condescending and unnecessary...not what these forums are supposed to be about...

Yes, it's true. You can tell by the ship deck plans. If it's a cabin for only 2 the bed is near the balcony. If for 3 or 4 it is away from the balcony. There is definitely a learning curve in how to go about picking a room that suits you. And if you aren't brand loyal (raises hand) you have to learn the difference not only between staterooms on any given ship but between classes of ships and different lines. I hope you get the arrangement you desire :) Happy cruising!

  10. I have never seen the ability to extend the 4 years ones either.

I am surprised they are extending the 2 year ones.

    Kind of defeats the purpose.

Why not just leave it at 4 years?

If they won't extend it I guess I can understand but my impression was that if it wasn't used it would be refunded

  11. I have the opportunity to sail on the Royal Princess to the Caribbean with my family for 10 days next Spring and I need some help choosing a cabin. There will be 3 of us in a cabin so I would like to stick with a Mini suite vs. a regular balcony. I have seen a lot of complaints about obstructed views/balconies and I want to make sure that I stay away from those areas. Right now I'm looking at deck 15, category MF either room M204 or M205. Anyone have experience with either of these rooms ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    :)

You shouldn't have any obstruction there. But, keep in mind, you are very high up and very far forward on the ship so you will feel more motion there if that bothers any of you. The good thing is you have cabins above and below you and it will be a quick trip up to the pool deck :)
