  1. Bob  I looked in a bit when you started the cruise but only now checked back to discover that the most unwelcomed visitor showed its ugly head to ruin the last part of your cruise. Really sorry it wasn't all smooth sailing on your first venture back to sea since Covid began in 2020.

Glad to hear you are doing better.

We have a lot of cruises planned one this year and 3 next year. I am hoping Covid stays away.

  2. Becky, I am late and the party is over. I just became aware of your wonderful reporting.  It was great reliving the cruise through your eyes ( pen and camera). Your writing skills are top drawer and so is your camera work.

I have never written any reviews but I do take a lot of pictures and sometimes post them on you tube.

Here is a link to some I have put up a few days ago.

    I will add more later.

  3. I found this 'no crown for 2017' non roll call :) and can't believe the loyal following. Princess has to be happy about fans like this.

I am glad things worked out and your wishes have come true. And I am coming along with you. Can't go wrong with a bunch like you guys.

  4. Just wanted to let everyone that I threw a number of pictures up on my Flickr page. There are still many more pictures to upload, patters to scan & upload, and add all the associated tags......:):):)

You are too kind and conscientious. You know you are not getting paid overtime for all this extra work. :)

I have looked at your pics of London and Paris. Looking forward to the ones from Iceland.

  5. We just got home and I agree, everything was great. No Sabatini's for us, but buffet served us well. Too well. ;) This cruise was just enough to tide us over until our next one at the end of May.

Carolyn: sorry we didn't run into you. I only managed to meet one person from the roll call and most likely because we spent most of our leisure time on the balcony. Good that your OBC got straightened out. We fortunately had all of ours with no problem.

Pia, I wish we knew you were on the ship. We missed a chance to see you and Mike. Hope Mike is doing well. We should be in touch more often.

  6. Thank you all for your kind wishes and prayers. Cornea is healing well and retina surgery is scheduled for Monday morning. We don't waste time around here. No guarantees from anybody, but we have the Chief of Staff doing it.

Karen: Yes, we do take cruise insurance and claim has already begun

Carolyn: Thanks for the offer. Appreciate it. We will be spending Sunday and Monday nights at Springhill Suites near the hospital, so as not to make that horrendous drive back and forth down I-95.

Pia, sorry to hear about Mike's eye. Must be the same eye that flared up last year when you were in Orlando. I hope the surgery will give him some long lasting solution to the problem. Hoping for the best outcome,

    Dave.

  7. Great! Thank you. Yes, it was free on the Emerald in 2012. It was an "activity" listed in the Patter. We really enjoyed it. Had no idea that the back of the theatre went from deck 5 to deck 10.

I have been on 3 transatlantics where there was a free back stage tour. It was always interesting. You get to meet a lot of production staff and performers and see all the back stage contraptions, racks of costumes, changing areas, make up desks, etc. This time on the Royal, the girl in charge of the production who was also a dancer happened to be from a neighboring town and her mom worked in my town - small world.

Towards the end of the video about 18:34 minutes in are a few shots from the back stage tour.

  8. Little Miss Magician, your pictures have constantly improved. I looked at some of your earlier reviews and this is the best. I don't think it's just the camera. You have gotten better. And yes, a nice fast lens with a wide constant aperture does make a difference.

I have 2 single focal length lenses that I resort to when the light is less than optimum, one is a f1.4 and the other f1.8. They are also quite useful when I want to blur out a background.

(I know your screen name is littlemissmagic and that you are, but you are also a little magician)

Thanks for the tour Victouria. :)

  9. We decided to try out the deck 7 sun chairs. What I really like about the Royal Princess is that deck 7 has an uncovered sun deck. While it would be a lot cooler if it wrapped around, it's fun to be able to be in the sun on such a low deck. And the wind is much better down there, too.

Many don't realize how much sun there is on deck 7. That's an advantage on the Royal often overlooked. Most promenade decks on other ships are in the shade and not very wide.

  10. You posted this a month ago and I Finally opened it.....what a great presentation!

Loved it and am really excited to get on board.

I am glad you finally decided to open it. Lots of people when they see it's youtube never bother to open it.

I hope others take the gamble. :)

  11. Thank you! Also, your review of the Royal Princess is one which convinced me to book it!

I am glad you chose the Royal when you could have chosen any other ship. You are a good match - her beauty and your ability to capture it. :)

Princess Keys is a nice little stop for a relaxing day and your camera didn't miss anything. Cute pic of your family hauling in that shark. You have a nice family. Such a fun dad and a mom willing to put up with all the family antics. :)
