We've just booked a 14 day Caribbean on Explorer in early December. Can't wait - it has a bunch of sea days which I love - it will be relaxing after my vocal cord radiation. Thanks for this thread!

Just booked for 14 day Caribbean on Dec. 4. I told our TA I wanted to be admidship in either Cat. E or D. Only one left Cat D so we took it - went and looked and its an ANGLE BAlCONY yay!!:D

TC: Thanks for your response - it doesn't say that on the Explorer brochure they sent - must have been left out. As to the comped cruise - what is wrong with these people? I knew it was comped from the get-go of reading the review - invited!!! - and I'm not that steeped in Regent "lore".

One thing I noticed re the concierge cabins - on the other Regent ships, if you are in concierge you get 10% off of purchased wine/spirits. That's a big deal to us as we usually have a substantial onboard credit and like to use it to buy some really good wine. I don't see that perk on Explorer

Where does Spirit dock in Venice? On Crystal we were up at the cruise docks and then moved down to near St. Mark's square.

Thank you all for posting. Following along on your journey. We're looking at a Carib cruise in early December so I've been checking out cabins. According to cruisedeckplans.com (very reliable site) the concierge and F1 and F2 are:
332 sq. ft. with a balcony of 83 sq. ft. The G's are 253 sq. ft. with 55 sq. ft. balcony.

I just did a search for Formal Optional and came across this thread. We are sailing on Spirit Aug. 5 - Athens to Venice - and mysilversea says Formal Optional for one night. Good to know DH can just wear a jacket and tie even though we're eating at La T that night. He'll be sooo glad not to have to buy a new suit.

I would definitely do Virgin! That said, we have flights to Athens via Phila. and return from Venice on AA. We used miles and - thank you seatguru - were able to pick the NEW business class seats. We're in South Florida so AA makes the best sense for us to amass miles. A number of years ago we flew Miami Heathrow on Virgin and loved it. Have flown BA but not feeling the love there.

Will never go without insurance again. For our upcoming cruise I bought but not from Silversea. We had a cruise planned in February on Regent in South America. I had to have a simple vocal cord surgery before the cruise - no bigee EXCEPT that I got an infection that put me in the hospital with IV antibiotics continually. They told me I couldn't go on the cruise and I didn't have insurance. Lost the total cruise cost. I was really sad but it was a good thing I didn't - I was allergic to the antibiotics they prescribed and had hives for one week - all over. Just think of THAT on a cruise  BTW, not a sickly person at all.

We engaged a taxi at the port for a tour of the island. We negotiated the cost up front and did NOT feel ripped off.

I am booking a half day tour with George The Famous Taxi Driver. He explained that he cannot go in there with me. He said he could get me a licensed guide to meet me there. I will be by myself and am not quite sure whether I should just read up on it and take myself or hire the licensed guide. Any advice?

Ok I've done all the paperwork but they didn't ask me for preferences for the fridge. Did I miss it or do I wait to get on board?

Thank you from a soon to be cruiser on Silver Spirit!

What table games does Spirit have? Is there 3 card poker? Thank you.

What games do they have on the Spirit? Any 3 card poker?

I read somewhere on Flyertalk that a gentleman was not allowed on the plane to Argentina because he had no reciprocity fee paperwork. The airline told him he couldn't get on because he couldn't get off in Argentina without it.
-
My Reciprocity Fee paperwork just shows the Fee and that is all I need to show.
I was issued instructions to present that piece of paper for each of us.

Thank you!

Oh I plan on taking a pash but just wanted to get an idea of what to bring.

Is it cold on Mariner? Last time we sailed her it was fine but saw somewhere that they're keeping cold.

I hope it gets better for you!
