  2. Where are you staying? If you are staying on the South Coast...as aimodels said...Oistins is a very nice and convenient option for Friday night.

Lots of local flavour and a nice vibe.

We are on a cruise ship - overnight in port

  3. It all depends on the day/night you will be in port. During the week there is not much happening in Bridgetown and its environs after 1800hrs.

A question was asked about the Waterfront Cafe( which is ion Bridgetown)in another thread which I responded to and I would recommend this as a place to have a drink and a bite to eat as well.

Technically it is within walking distance but I would recommend a taxi...which should be about $10 each way.

Thank you for this - its a Friday night - 13th March - we land about 3ish - then board the ship but we don't set sail until Sat evening - so we thought we would take the opportunity to discover a couple of bars during the evening while we have the chance.

    Thanks again

  4. Hello

We are joining the Ventura in Barbados in March - the first night is spent in port in Barbados - we were hoping to get off the ship and go for a nice drink somewhere.

Any suggestions??? I was thinking within walking distance preferably - but we could always get a taxi if required.

    Thank you very much

  5. If you are flying from Manchester with Thomas Cook the current situation is thus.TC have 2 A330 200 series aircraft based at Manchester one has already been refitted and has both premium economy(seating 2-3-2) and economy(seating 2-4-2).The other has left Manchester on 6th Jan for refitting scheduled to take about a month and has been replaced by a TC Scandanavian A330 300 series all economy(seating 3-3-3 rows 1-12 and 2-4-2 therafter)). P & O flights should be operated by the refurbished plane but the other plane could possibly be substituted if needed.Note TC Scandanavian A330 whilst all economy has 32" seat pitch in forward cabin(rows 1-12) and 29" seat pitch all other rows.

    Thank you for this

So - if we were to get the 'old' plane with no Premium seating - would we be entititled to a refund of our upgrade??? And seat choice??

    Thank you

  6. NO NO - I have premium seats - I have paid to pick the seat - 4 A and C - but there are reports that there is NO PREMIUM seats on Thomas cook flights!!!!!!!!!!!! That their planes are infact the old planes - and the new planes do not start flying until May 2015.

Has anyone been lately that can confirm that there are premium seats

    Thank you

  7. Hello

We are due to fly out to the caribbean in March - we have booked the flight through P and O - and we decided to upgrade the flight to have 'premium seats' - I have heard recently that these seats are not actually available - can anyone confirm that Thomas Cook flights from Manchester DO have premium seats please.

    Thank you

  8. I think I saw a thread on possible repercussions for the crew when tips are taken off, but am not at all sure of my facts.

We do the same as Josy above. we leave them on and, as we have always had impeccable service, we also give just a small amount to the steward and waiter at the end, but this is purely your personal choice.,

I don't want to sound mean - but 'repercussions for the crew when tips are taken off' - I always thought that tips were what people decided the people deserved.

I really don't know why cruise companies don't just add it in the price of the holiday - then we would pay without saying anything - I ALWAYS tip everyone - but I do like the choice to decide how much.

I am in a job in the uk and I serve the public - NEVER have I been tipped and I would not expect it. I go to work and get paid (minimum wage mind you) - why should I get anything else - maybe these cruise lines should pay the correct wage and not 'expect' the public to make their wages up.

I know this is a can of worms - and I for one will leave the auto tipping on - but that soon adds to the cost of the holiday.

    Thank you again

  9. Hello - does anyone know if 'service charges/tips' - are charged to your account daily or whether you just sort out tips in envelopes at the end of your cruise?

If they are added to your account can you adjust them??

    Thank you

  10. Its our first visit to Tortola we are coming on a P and O cruise in March. I can't find anything except about Cane Garden Beach. We would like to see a bit of the island - but a 4 hour max tour - and time on the beach would be good.

We have been told to just grab a taxi at the pier - so what do we need to see?? would we get a taxi/van for 6/8??

    Thank you very much

  11. We are also looking at 2 Jan 2016 - but never thought about the light - what time does it go dark at that time of year - and what sort of temperatures could we expect.

We were thinking of coming over 28th Dec and having NYE in Honolulu - is it celebrated there? is it worth coming in so early?

We have not sailed with NCL for over 10 years now - do they still charge a 'daily service charge' to your onboard account? Can you knock it off???

I see they do an all inclusive option now too for drinks - although it may not be worth it as there is so much 'land time'

    Thanks in advance

  12. Eric Stone was our favorite. He was on our Sun Princess cruise several years ago. Some people love Bert Stratton and Mauricio, but neither of them floated our boat.

We had Mauricio on our far east cruise and he packed them in - but not as much as Sammy Goldstein on the Star in Jan 2009. We have just returned from the Goldens Hawaii roundtrip and the piano bar was probably the quietest - the player was not too hot - Katy someone - only listened once and did not enjoy it at all.

On all our previous cruises the piano bar (crooners or promenade) was always packed with people even standing on the 'landing' and around the lifts just to listen
