  1. Does anyone know if any Port Canaveral or Cocoa Beach hotel has room that will accomodate 5? We would prefer one big room or suite to taking 2 rooms (more fun for the kids).

    Thank you!

Not sure if this will work for you but the Country Inn & Suites has a "kids suite" (I believe it's called)......there is a queen bed in the main part of the room......then there's a smaller room that's enclosed with walls that don't go all the way to the ceiling......which has a set of bunk beds and a twin bed in there. It has it's own little TV in there for them to use too. The one we stayed in had some neat artwork inside the kids room.

    Hope this helps......

  2. We have sailed out of PC a number of times and we have decided that it will always be our favorite cruise port. We just love the area!!

We will be coming down a week from this Saturday for our Sunday May 9th cruise.......YIPPEE!!!!!

I just wanted to say thanks so much Shirley for all the great help you give!!!

  3. This is a Port Canaveral thread and you are asking about Port Everglades.

But to answer your question, we sailed out of FLL this past November and the best advice someone gave us was to flag down a porter as soon as you can, let them take your luggage and follow them right through customs, they will flag down a taxi for you and you're off to the airport.

Don't forget to tip them for their trouble......best $$$ you will ever spend!!!

  4. Sorry if this has been asked before, but with the newer ships (Emerald, Ruby) are the PS suites near the vents still getting those odor issues? We're looking at 2011 for our big anniversary and would like to reserve something really special for our cabin. We've only had balconies before, but bonine works for us so the motion shouldn't be a problem but I'm concerned with the smell issues.

    Many thanks!!

We just got off the Emerald 2 wks ago and had our first aft balcony B-752. The view was beautiful, the balcony was big (room enough for 4 chairs and a small table) BUT the smell made us sick!!!

It smelled just like a landfill and we kept hoping that the wind would change or maybe when the ship turned another direction it would go away or get better, but and it didn't.......the smell was there 24/7.

I'm not trying to keep anyone from getting an aft that really wants one, but for us it was not a good experience. We paid more $$$ for a balcony we could not use.

  5. Hi Everyone! I live in Woodstock , Ga- Towne Lake to be exact and my husband and I are going on out first cruise (RCCL Monarch of the Seas) in 10 days. We are so excited and cannot wait! We think we might do an all inclusive resort on a day pass when we get to Nassau. Has anyone else doen this?

Go over to the Ports of Calls section and click on Nassau. You will find a world of info on Atlantis, etc.....

    Happy Sailing!!!!

  6. Ok, so I still need it then even if I am not going to charge anything? What if you don't charge a thing, they don't try and sneak charges on your card do they? My card is almost to it's limit (bad I know) and I'm a blonde who is terrible with money! All I know is I like to have it ha ha

Someone correct me here if I'm wrong, but I believe they do put a certain $$$ amt hold on the credit card you want to use. I'm sure to be sure they will get their money......so you may not be able to give them a card that's maxed out.

If that's the case you may want to give them a cash deposit when you check in...

  7. This past January the group of friends we travel with lost one of our "cruising buddies" VERY unexpectantly. He went in for a heart by-pass surgery and died before they could start the operation.......we were all devastated!!!

Then this past August one of our lady "crusing buddies" had her cancer come back and she was gone within a month.....again we were all just broken hearted.

Things like this really make you stop and think about your life and how you want to spend it. As long as we can afford it we will NEVER stop cruising because it always brings us such wonderful memories of happier times. And as we travel we will always remember to pause and give a toast to our dear friends Jimmy and Rita who we miss so very much......

  8. What a great thread! My husband and I are also high school sweethearts and have been married for almost 38 yrs. Growing up we took NO vacations, ever, couldn't afford to. So when we got married we vowed we would take at least one vacation a year no matter what and we have. It was usually a short trip to the beach, but at least it was something.

About 4 yrs ago my precious husband almost died. He had gotten food poisoning and was so violently sick that it completely shut his kidneys down. He was on dialysis for over a month, but by the grace of God and some wonderful doctors he is just fine today.

After that we were introduced to cruising by a big group from our hometown who have been cruising every year for 15 or so years. We took our first 2 cruises with them so we could get the hang of it, but the last one we took this past February was just the two of us. It was by far the greatest vacation we've ever had! Now we cannot wait to book another one for just us again.

So I fully agree with everyone else, PLEASE don't put off something you want to do. If you can figure out how to afford it GO NOW!!!
