  1. I think  they changed the timing of how soon you can submit your Shareholder statement when they started requiring payment for excursions up front. A few years ago, you could book your Princess excursions and not pay for them until you boarded/disembarked, so you were able to use your OBC to pay for them. By Princess now allowing you to request the Shareholder benefit earlier, you can still use the OBC to pay for excursions and such ahead of time.

  2. My husband is on a low sodium diet and they were wonderful in the MDR with him. Every night the head waiter would bring him the menu for the following night and he would choose what he wanted from it.

I sure hope that US testing requirement goes away before too long!  One day is sometimes hard to accommodate.

You and me both. Although, given the flights to get back to South Carolina, we decided to rent a car and drive down to Seattle for a couple of days prior to returning home. Since we will be crossing the border by car we won't need to be tested. Go figure.

I believe that the ship tests you AFTER you disembark and then is supposed to make quarantine arrangements with a location in Vancouver if I am looking at Canada's requirements correctly. So I guess that is what I will write down. Our cruise isn't until June 1 so we have time to see what other passengers' experiences are with all these requirements.

According to the Canada website, that was updated on 4/1, you are not required to be tested prior to disembarking in Canada. However, Princess will test you if you will be flying back to a country (such as the US) that requires it. That being said, if you plan on staying in Vancouver for a day or 2, or longer, after your cruise, Princess's testing won't help because it has to be within 1 day of your flight into the US.

  5. I am actually the opposite of you. I have only cruised Princess and we are going on our first HAL cruise in May. We have been cruising Princess since 2007 when our kids were 8 and 9. They are now 22 and 23 and we still enjoy Princess. In fact, we are usually 3 generations that cruise together. Actually, this will be our first cruise with just my DH and I, so it will be interesting on a whole new level. I won't comment that you will like it compared to HAL since I have not sailed them yet, but I do think that you will like the Princess product.

We have booked a Princess cruise and want the "Princess Plus" benefits of included Drinks, WiFi and Gratuities.  We have paid our deposit and the "Booking Confirmation - Passenger Copy," balance due reflects the cost of Princess Plus.  However, on the Booking Confirmation letter the Princess Plus is not displayed as a line item.  Instead, it's supposably included in the Cruise fare.  Or so it's supposed to be and that's my concern. I would assume that Princess Plus would be specified on the Booking Confirmation similar to how it displays fare, taxes, and insurance where every charge is specifically listed.  At the bottom of the Booking Confirmation there's a place where it states Gratuities included, but no mention of included Drinks and WiFi.  So this concerns me as to whether we actually will receive the Princess Plus benefits.  I asked our cruise agent and she states that it's okay and due to a glitch in the Princess booking system the Princess Plus or benefits are not stated.

Does this sound right?  For anyone else out there who also has Princess Plus, what does it state on your Booking Confirmation Invoice?

The cruise is not till September, but I'd like to get this confirmed now.

Thanks for your information.  Appreciate your help.

Where you are seeing about gratuities, is that under "comments"?

All of the packages included should be listed under "Payment Details" Which is a subset of "Pricing Details". It is not a line item amount.

If you have the cruise card instead of the medallion, how do you connect your device to use the internet?

Before the medallion era, when connecting to internet, you first created an account registering with your cabin number.  We haven't cruised since the new medallion features.  So I'm sure this is a very basic baby steps question-- how does the princess plus program recognize you for the internet?

I thought it was the medallion device.  But if it works with the cruise card...how does the system recognize you?  Do you still register an account?

The cruise card/medallion is separate and apart from the wifi. The medallion is pretty much just a smaller version of the cruise card, although it does a few other things, like track your location on the ship.

For the wifi, you would sign-in pretty much as you would prior to the medallions, I believe (I don't totally remember the procedure for the per-minute data that used to be on the ships)

  8. My suggestion. Since you have the wifi package, and assuming you have wifi calling capabilities. Keep your phone on airplane mode then connect to wifi. You should be able to make calls and send texts (or iMessages) without getting a huge cell bill. We did this on our last cruise in December between myself, hubby, our 2 sons and 2 of my friends who were with us as well as communicating with those back at home.

I am waiting for news re Enchanted Princess sailing June 17 from Copenhagen. I presume that St. Petersburg will be replaced given Carnival Corp statement in Miami this afternoon ... very surprised that RCCL confirmed that, as of now, Voyager OTS will call St. Petersburg.

That has changed. I have clients sailing on the 10 August sailing and they received notification that SBP is no longer on the itinerary.

Sounds like OP created her own problems...except for the COVID and that could be from flaunting Mask protocols.

Don't make assumptions. I am triple vaxxed and wear double masks when I substitute teach (and in other high risk places). I went to the theater to see a play last week, where masks were required as were vaccinations, and ended up testing positive.

  11. Welcome to Princess. We have had the opportunity to sail on the Sky twice, January 2020 and then this past December over NYE. She is beautiful! If you like Jazz, The Sky has the only dedicated Jazz Lounge at sea--Take 5. Take 5 is also usually quiet during the day, so a good place to read, etc. Alfredo's Pizza is also really good. Unlike "Slice" by the pools on Deck  16, Alfredo's is a sit down pizza restaurant on Deck 7 midship in the piazza.

Also, Princess has self-service laundry facilities on every deck that has cabins. They vary from mid ship to forward to aft, depending on the deck, and they are actually 2 on Sky, one on Port, one on Starboard, directly behind each other, so if one is full, walk around to the other side. They are not big, about 3-4 each of washers and dryers. They are $3.00 each to wash and dry, and soaps can be purchased as well for, I think, $1.50. I always take laundry pods and dryer sheets.

Watching restrictions for all of the countries involved makes me worry about whether everything can fall into place but I’m staying hopeful!

Same here, but a year is a long time, so hopefully things will only change for the better in the coming months.

I feel your pain. I'd be very hesitant to take a Baltic cruise if you are really looking forward to specific ports.  We've limited our cruises for this year to the Caribbean and Alaska to avoid anything where missing a port would spoil the cruise for us.  I'm getting very concerned about Southeast Asia for 2023 already.  We had to cancel for 2020, 2021 and 2022 and I would hate to miss a 4th year but I feel like I'd rather not go if I don't know the itinerary for sure ahead of time.

Oh, please don't say that about SE Asia in 2023. I am really hoping to do the Singapore-Tokyo next March.

We did that sort of but with younger kids.  We did a cruise with our granddaughters aged 10 and 13.  We booked 2 cabins - one cabin for me and one granddaughter and a 2nd cabin for my wife and the 2nd granddaughter.  After we boarded we put the 2 kids in their own cabin and wife and I had the other cabins.  We had no problems with that although we did not actually tell the cruise line what we were doing.  I should add that the 2 cabins were next to each other.

    DON

We did it with our kids as well, however, once the older was 16 we were allowed to book the kids into their own cabin, it just needed to be within a few of ours and the reservation had to be linked to ours.

but they can't book a cabin with Princess on their own - so why would they be allowed to quarantine on their own in a cabin ?

They can't book a cabin on their own, however, a family/group can book multiple cabins and legally put 2 minors in a cabin if at least one of them is 16 years of age and their booking is linked to one with someone over 21. So, whereas I can't see them allowing the 14 year old to quarantine by themselves, they may allow the 19 and 18 year old.

    • Fewer passengers on board ( really a great time to cruise)
    • no chocolate on pillows
    • covid protocols ( masks, hand washing stations)
    • no self serve in buffet ( except grab and go small dishes)
    • no self serve beverage stations
    • no karaoke
    • beverage package now works on room service orders
    • room service can be ordered via app, stateroom TV or phone.  Menu has been expanded. Most items are no charge but some items have a small fee ( pizza, humus, items from specialty restaurants)
    • Dining Reservations are made through the App, TV or Dine Line

On Emerald stateroom service has been exactly as it was pre-Covid (twice a day), on Majestic it was once a day unless you requested turn down service.

On the Sky over NYE we had karaoke several nights and, like on the Emerald we had twice daily stateroom service.
