  1. I choose to disconnect for a few days (which is quite an accomplishment for me). Of course, I hit the web like a crack addict whenever we stop in a US port... And don't even think of talking to me when we get back in range of the port of disembarkation. lol

  2. On a 12 day Med cruise, the couple in the cabin next to ours missed the ship twice and had to make their way to the next port each time. The third time they missed they never came back. I have always wondered what Princess did with their luggage!

My understanding is they take it back to the port of disembarkation and store it. It is the ex-passengers responsibility to claim it and make arrangements to get it home.

On our last cruise we saw a family get left in San Juan, and someone just barely made it in Cozumel. A ships officer was standing outside in both cases with a brown envelope, which contained the tardy passenger's passports that had been retrieved from their cabins.

  3. Quick question from a Princess Newbie.... Are the laundries open on turn-around day of a b2b? That seems like a great day to take care of that chore.

    Thanks!!!

Can't speak for Princess, but this is what we did on Carnival. We did it early, while other passengers were making their way out of their cabins - such a great feeling!

  4. How much of the brokerage statement do you need to send? My statement is 6 pages long and lists all of my stocks. Do you guys black out everything except for the CCL shares?

I send the first page (which has our name on it) and the page with the CCL stock. All entries are blacked out except the CCL holding. Never had a problem.

  5. I have a hard time getting to excited about my cruises until about 30 days out. Up until that point, it's just too far out. When I think about it, I'm almost ambivalent. When I hit that 30 day mark, the excitement I lids steadily. I think for me, the cruise begins when I start my travel to the cruise port.

  6. It is my guess that the first one processed will get the full amount and the second one to show up will get zip. Same as if a husband and wife both applied for the benefit, each owning the required number of shares.

I would think that you could explain the situation to the folks at Princess, and as long as both parties are in agreement, hey would split the benefit. It's no skin off Princess' nose. The situation is slightly different from a husband and wife, where both parties still benefit.

  7. Hello,

I recently returned from the 15 day holiday Hawaiian cruise on the Grand Princess leaving out of San Francisco. The cruise spanned from December 20, 2013 until January 4, 2014.

I kept the Princess Patter for each day and scanned them in to share with you to help those who will be on a similar future cruise or those who want to reminisce about this particular cruise. There are also port maps of where we visited.

Here is the link to the files...

Thanks! We leave in three weeks. I looked at a few of them, but felt like a kid taking a peek at Christmas presents a few days early,so I stopped. It is nice to have them available though.

  8. Does anyone know if Sammi Baker is a little short lady from Juneau, Ak. We sail on the Grand on Feb 3rd. I believe she was our CD on our last Princess Cruise. That would be such a coincidence. Would be our first repeat CD.

Just found out it is the same Sammi. We enjoyed her on the Star. Does anyone know if she will be on the Grand in February?

  9. If you post in a thread and no one else is there, does anyone hear you? Lol

I admire your dedication. We're doing a similar challenge, but a little different. We have a Hawaiian cruise planned in February. It departs out of SF. It just so happens there is a half marathon being run the day before. We have decided to train for the HM, run it, then recover on the ship. It will be my third HM, but my wife's first. With just over three months until the cruise I think our goal will be to run 300 miles, although we might push it to 350 just to make it more challenging prior to race day.

Still on track. We are at 145 miles, or just over 40% to our goal. Still have about seven weeks to go. Need to start getting some longer runs in, which will help push us over the top - barring injuries.

  10. If you have judged your relationship with brothers correctly, this will be great no matter how the logistics work. As to the 'downers', it is a surprise and maybe a supper. It is not surgery to become co-joined twins. I am sure the bros will have time alone later too.

I would welcome a surprise like that from any of my five siblings. None of us are clingy, so we'd enjoy each others company, while give each other plenty of space. Great idea! Now, if I could just get any of my siblings to take a cruise. :)

  11. Has anyone hired a cab for 3 to 4 hours to tour St. Lucia highlights? Interested in seeing the Pitons, waterfalls, etc.

    Two words: James Tours!

It will be a little longer than 3-4 hours. It'll be more like 4-6 hours, but he has the best customer service of ANY vendor I have ever encountered. He'll make it well worth your time - including an individualized tour. I don't remember what he charges, but it was very reasonable, and deserves a look.

  12. I'm not deaf, but have a slight hearing impairment. I use cc all the time (especially at home) so I wouldn't have a problem with them. At a minimum, Princess should provide an alternative for hearing impaired customers. Don't give up! Keep pushing the issue.

  13. Funny, I'm the only person who ever posts here, yet I still feel motivated to keep going!

Anyway, I went to the doctor, she told me everything I already know, I'll have to rest ten days, take Aleve, and find some new stretches. I guess it's posterior shin splints. I'm looking in to buying equipment for Trigger Point Therapy, but it's not cheap, so it may be a Christmas gift  I'm going to start my "rest" regimen Wednesday, I've got a health screening that I need to lose a couple pounds for, and of course, running is what helps me to drop pounds the fastest. Even during my "rest" regimen, I'm still allowed to do other things, however, so I may be tacking on miles for the bike and elliptical.

    Miles ran/walked/biked- 167.47

    Miles remaining- 32.53

    Days remaining- 39

  14. We are 37/39 and have been cruising with Princess for the past 11 yrs. Sometimes we are the "children" of the cruise, and others we are not. It depends on the itinerary and the time of year.

What about a Hawaii 15-Day in February?

  15. Last year on our honeymoon cruise, we attended the newlywed game assuming we would be the most recently married couple, however we weren't. We didn't make the show, but had a great time watching. The couples never went back stage so we know they weren't coached. They chose three couples. One who had been married the shortest amount of time, middle, and the longest married couple. The longest married couple had been married i think they said like 60 years?

Anyways. They asked the question to the wives "if your husband found himself on a deserted Island without you, which would he rather find? A missionary or a stripper?" And I swear to you the little old 80 some year old man's response was "a stripper in the missionary position" The whole place erupted. He got a standing ovation!

Hmm, sounds like pandering to the crowd to me. A little too coincidential that it was the 80 year old man who had that as a snappy comeback line. BTW, the couples had to go back stage, otherwise they would have heard their partner's response. It was a good response anyway though.

A few years back on my Jewel of the Sea cruise, I participated in the "Best Legs" contest and the CD definitely gave me tips for "playing to the crowd." The fun on cruise ships is almost always carefully orchestrated, although not always, as indicated by some of the antics on this thread.
