  1. Interesting, we’ll fly to SF then drive Big Sur, head to Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Yosemite and back to SF to fly home. This is a first trip to all, even Alaska. Ideally we’d have done a cruisetour, but the price was right and we grabbed this B2B. I know this won’t be our only trip, we really want to see Denali. We’re trying to work out a trip to Glacier NP, the Rocky Mountaineer and Alaska. Still playing with ideas.

I love the trip you’ve planned, enjoy the parks, I know you will, they’re breathtaking!

  2. Yes I read he believed they did, but hadn’t noticed the scenery.  Well at least it was the ships plan to sail the inside route. Which leads me to believe they’ve acquired the permit to do so. Read on a Facebook group today that someone embarking on the upcoming Sat 6/15 sailing received an email notifying her that the Royal will sail at 3:30, one hour early. Hopefully she will begin regularly sailing the inside route, we sail 8/3 on a B2B.

    Hope sail away was great!

I saw this sailing had an earlier departure time due to tides and the ship’s size. Could you confirm what path you all ultimately take past Vancouver island?

If you read the Navigator notes on first page of patter embarkation day, it appears they took the Canadian inside passage.

I was going to buy the soda package because it included Hot chocolate for my Alaska Cruise but with the change in packages I am not going to buy a package as I don't drink that much soda for the price increase.  Can some one tell me how much Hot chocolate is on board the Grand.  I don't drink coffee.

    Thank you

Same here. So I’ve decided to get the coffee package, I really don’t drink the specialty coffees, but my husband does, he can have those and I’ll drink the unlimited teas and hot chocolate.  I was extremely peeved to see the change as the old plan worked well for me. Now I’ll bring some soda on board, something we didn’t do in the past as I felt the plan was reasonable.  I’ll just pay as I go on the mock-tails, I never drank to many anyway.

My aunt and uncle are on this cruise and booked this tour. I have been nervous since I heard. We are going to Alaska in less than 2 weeks and shared all of our tours and itinerary. (we also booked this tour)

I just got a hold of my cousin and found out my Aunt and Uncle took this flight this morning. Thank God they are safe. They said that they were told by the staff that they should phone home and tell the family they are fine.  I hope others on the cruise contact those that know they booked the float plane tour to reassure them.

My thoughts and prayers are with the friends and families that are affected.

So glad your family members are safe, it had to have been a horrible time waiting to hear.

My my prayers go out to all those affected by this nightmare. So terribly sad.

Everyone that advocates for this make it sound so simple but I remember a couple of years ago that either Princess or Celebrity (we sail both so I'm not sure who did this) made gratuities mandatory for people who ate in Anytime dining. The thought process was that those who had the same waiter would establish a relationship and thus want to tip but they didn't want the waiters who served different people every night to suffer any consequences.

People threw a hissy fit and the cruiseline had to rescind that policy.

We sailed on Royal back when the kids were tweens and teens and I remember the requirement to prepay gratuities with ATD.  We weren’t frequent cruises then and I don’t remember the curfuffle.

I do remember having a wonderful time on all three of the cruises with royal though.

So they can be used shortly after purchased?  Cruising in September.  Can purchase now, and apply to cruise ($1,000 + $50) shortly thereafter?  Sorry if I am asking the obvious.

Yes, we did this same promotion in early Dec ‘18.  We were a couple days from final payment, bought only the $1000 then as we owed just over that, TA was familiar with them and applied both the GC and bonus GC.

We we are again a few days from final payment, thank you Princess, I’ll be pleased to buy $2000 this time. I’m thinking if there’s any issue with using two bonus cards on one cruise, we’ll just apply it to the Feb cruise.

We’ll be making final payment today or tomorrow, I’ll report back.

Thank you OP for posting this, I haven’t received an email and appreciate the heads up.
