  1. I traveled solo in March on Summit.  I was in an inside cabin and wanted to move up to concierge balcony.  I placed my offer about a month before the cruise and they accepted the offer 2 days prior to cruise.   I did have to pay as two people were sailing.  So my initial bid was 150pp, ended up paying 300 total.

You cannot really blame MSC for this. It was the CDC that changed the regulations so all cruiselines have to follow. If they do not, they cannot sail  from a U.S. port.

I was literally having a breakdown until someone posted about the clinics at the Miami airport. We get in Thursday evening and have decided to schlep all are luggage to the clinic as soon as we get in to get it over with.

That way we HOPE to have a relaxing day in Miami on Friday.

I don’t blame MSC for the ever evolving protocols.  Like other cruise lines I wish they would provide testing at pier (at customer cost) for the short term cruiser flying in during the next few days.

  3. I sailed on Mera on 8/20 and they tested all of us the pier at their cost. It was efficient and professional.  With this adjustment in protocols on short notice, I would think MSC would have those test facilities again at the port, even if passengers had to pay.  I for one would pay.  To allow your customers to have to scramble and  not be able to meet the 2 day requirement is  baffling.

  4. I am scrambling now to readjust my tests. I am on the 9/13 cruise and had a test scheduled for 9/10 which was 3 days.  I was to fly 9/11 and enjoy a pre-cruise weekend in FL but I can’t find a testing facility in the Miami area, so now I need to push my flight to Sunday 9/12 in order to get a test in the timeline.  Thanks CDC, thanks MSC as you tested me in terminal on 8/20.

We are sailing on the Mera in a few weeks and have booked a YC inside cabin.  Has anyone ever upgraded to a balcony cabin once onboard? We notice that many open balcony cabins on this sailing.  We have been getting the upgrade emails, but wondering if you can make a deal once onboard.

  6. Just got off the ship on Monday.  The bowling lane I was told was broken. Waiting on parts.
I did see the Formula 1s in use.  Sorry can’t speak to the flight simulator.   The Carousel Lounge was used for musical acts.

We were not in the YC or visited the spa so I can’t speak for to that.  However all the bars were open.  Evening Karaoke in the TV studio, shows in the main lounge were happening.  We only sailed with 862 passengers.

  7. As a passenger on this cruise I would have hoped that X would have contacted us.  Based on my calling them and saying they had heard about it through media channels.   Thanks to this board and Canadian news.  I don’t fault X on the early stages as the pax didn’t inform the ship.  However, since Saturday the news has been out there and yet nothing.   I have self quarantined myself and informed my work of the situation.  I have no symptoms on day 11 since debarkation and feel fine.   I suspect X is overwhelmed and if their office is anything like their website, I understand.

I hope all who are sick are getting better and I will still sail X.

See you at the Sunset Bar.
