  1. Normally do not nap on cruise.  Don't go to sleepuntil 1 or 2 am nightly. Also up between 6:30 and 7:00 most mornings.   I love walking around a quiet ship with a cup of coffee while most everyone else is sleeping.  I may close my eyes for 10 minutes or so after getting out of a hot tub, listening to the ship sounds.

I can sleep when I get home.  For clarification, I am in my late 60's

At home, I do frequently enjoy a daily 20 minute cat nap.

If available, I would recommend booking E410, which is listed as an obstructed deluxe balcony and is directly under D410 with almost an identical view, certainly not obstructed, but quite a bit cheaper. We have booked E410 on five cruises next year, including the Sky, Regal, and Royal. Look for obstructed balconies under interior.

    How is E410 obstructed?

It would be of great value to Princess if they used it correctly.

Imagine if they could use it to detect long lines at a bar or event, or to see that a certain public restroom has had a large amount of traffic and needs servicing. As for now, it's a fancy fridge magnet. Too bad most fridges these days are stainless steel and magnets don't stick to them.

I have a stainless steel fridge, magnets do stick to it.

  4. I loved my balcony for our cruise to Alaska.  We spent a lot of time there, as well as on deck.  We were lucky, I suppose, as the temps were fairly warm, even with a moving ship, and there was no rain.  We took warm clothes, light weight jackets and rain gear and did not need it.

If you and the kids have iPhones, Facetime audio and video also work well most of the time.

We don't have iPhones, but have chatted with the grandkids through instant messenger.  The grandkids loved it.

  6. Thanks for all of the replies.  I had forgotten about "airplane mode"  I used that while on our last cruise to Alaska.  No extra charges for air travel, on the ship, or while in Canada.  Shouldn't need wifi calling.  Ships wifi package will enable any necessary communication via Facebook messenger with adult kids.

  7. Going on a cruise,  and flying to port.  I know I am supposed to do something to my cell phone so that I do not get lots of charges, but I can't remember what to do. That last time I cruised with my phone was 3 years ago. I will be getting internet on board the ship.  Thanks for the help.  Technology is not my strong point.

Equinox typically docks at Pier B right behind Margaritaville Resort so no tendering. Here is a link to the Key West calendar.

Here is a video that shows the security entrance, but with construction going on at Mallory Square you can not walk down the bridge (at the end of the video) at this time. I also have this video that shows the piers from the air. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info and the videos.  We have never been to Key West, and are really looking forward to stopping there

Not to sound sexist but women put style before comfort. Look at the shoes they wear. 6 inch heals and narrow toe box. If a man picked the deck furniture it would recline like a Lazy Boy and have cup holders. Not pretty but comfortable.

I do not find this comment sexist; I was actually amused by it.   It is true.   Some women do wear 6 inch heels with the very pointy toe.  I did in my younger days. Couldn't do that today.   Definitely not good for foot health.  Oh. And I would love the recliner

  10. We are cruising the end of June.  We are planning a few days in Ft. Lauderdale.  While there, we plan to take the Water Taxi to Hollywood Beach area.  Would it be better to visit Hollywood Beach area on a Wednesday or a Thursday?  Thanks.

Over the years we have cruised I have always found a way to make those 'uncomfortable' comfortable....I am happy for the people skill of it.  I have even managed to overcome the language barriers that happen on occasion.   On our next two cruises, we are actually sailing with our own group, so having people at dinner won't be an issue at all.

I agree wholeheartedly that "Dining  with a group can be one of the more enjoyable aspects of cruising."

My preference is traditional dining - same table, same fellow cruisers, and same wait staff.

Friendships can be made that last longer then the cruise.  You might even become Facebook friends for life.

Here is mine......we were selected as the married longest couple to play on Love and Marriage.  Mitch Meruchi was the CD and as he was going around the audience to find the longest married couple 'that would play' one after another declined.  We were only married 38 years at the time (many others were longer) but alas none of them were 'brave souls'.  It was a blast.  When you are on a cruise, be BRAVE, HAVE A BLAST!

Paulette, one of my favorite fun activities was participating in a birthday celebration where the birthday cake did not have the correct birthday girls name on it.
