  1. We booked Cozumel Palace through Resorts For A Day, 6 minute taxi ride from International Pier. 5 stars from us. ( only thing is no sand beach - they have a walk way that leads into the water - but you never want to leave their pool area because it's so beautiful. They do have an area on the property that about 50 beach chairs set in and are in a sandy area...just gotta walk down well built wide steps to get in the ocean instead of walking in from sandy beach. We saw the other two places, El CID and Park Royal ( about two minutes closer to the ship), but they looked like a Motel 6 in comparison. Glad we chose the Palace.

  2. We almost did this AI. We saw it from our other excursion we decided on. The front looks a little rough - sorta like a motel 6 looks. We went to Cozumel Palace, a little more pricey - but so worth the money. We had a great day and the food, and staff ( except for Angel at the front desk ) were all so nice and welcoming. Cozumel palace is a 6 minute taxi ride 10.00 with tip. Great day!

  3. Mr Sanchos is great for an active day, nachicom is wonderful ( my choice between the two - due to parasailing, scuba, snorkel excursions, available right there). This year we went to Cozumel Palace hotel, an all inclusive resort for a day, great time and will be my preference from now on. A little more money, but you get what you pay for.

  4. What a wonderful action packed review from both of you. Thank you so much! I will be on the western in 9 days, so I really looked at the cruise compasses from those days. I kept seeing the compass say to stay on " ship time " while in the ports of Jamaica and Cozumel - can you recall the time difference for ships time verses island time? I normally don't worry about this as we do our excursions with the ship, but this year we are venturing out on our own and I certainly do not wish to be running nor standing at the dock watching the ship leave me.

Thanks again for the review and all the tips you provided.

  5. 11 phone calls, a couple hours spent on hold, 4 emails, a letter of complaint sent to RCI headquarters....finally ~ my onboard purchases are now showing up on my payment history. My reserved shows, shore excursions and drink package is on my cruise calendar! PRINT....just in case it goes missing again.

  6. I hate the new cruise planner. I have called 11 times and spent several hours on the phone with RCI planner "specialist". They can see they took $287 from my acct on May 14 - but they can't verify what that payment went to. I keep telling them its my show excursions in Labadee but they can't confirm that... they just keep saying "we know there is a problem and it will be corrected before your ship goes out"... well, its been 18 days, and I leave in 18 days .... I want written confirmation for my purchases - but they can't provide anything except they took that money toward some type of payment. AUGH.......

  7. If your formal night is the second night of the cruise, be sure to tell your room steward the first afternoon that you see him. Usually for DH coat, shirt, trousers it's about $13.00. The jackets cost the most. I take slinky dresses that pack well and haven't had to have them pressed. The paper in the closet will ask (in small letters) if you want pressed and hung, or laundered and folded - make sure to mark the correct box. It takes 24 hours to get the items back usually

  8. Ours have also been paid for and not showing up. The cruise planner nor the calendar aren't showing them. My History showed I paid something but doesn't list what it was. The cruise planners at RCI say they can't see what I paid for, but see that something came out of my bank acct. They ask me to be patient that the system is being worked on. My fear is that I will be spending part of the first day at the shore excursion desk haggling over what I booked 60 days ago and them not seeing my reservation....

  9. More smoking areas allowed on CCL. More party people on CCL. I felt the food was better on CCL, but prefer the décor, waiters attitude and over all dining experience on RCI. The décor, guest attitude, classy atmosphere and over all feeling of security that RCI gives is the reason we like RCI better than CCL. I am also a Princess fan....
