We are on the 29th sailing.  I just got off the phone with a Carnival PVP and she said that they are planning on sailing the schedule and fixing the damage on the fly.  I guess we'll get to NOLA next week and see what happens.  At least I'm stuck in NOLA "with nothing to do" if the sailing cancels.

Good luck with getting hotels. The Sugar Bowl will be there Jan 1.

  2. I have done what you are thinking of doing. On one cruise we did. On paper my wife and Mom were in one room and in the second was my daughter and I. 16 at the time. As my wife really doesn't drink that much and I wanted the Cheers package and didn't want to spend the extra cash for a non drinker. When we got on board we went to guest services and got spare keys and my daughter went to mom's room and my wife to mine. Carnival doesn't do room inspections to see who's in each they just go by the bookings.

Both of you are wrong.  The first sentence of the first post defines FCC as future cruise credit.  I don't know how OP got theirs, but I was given a 20% future cruise credit as additional compensation for missing a port due to a lady going overboard on the Triumph on 1/21/18.  I used it on my 2/10/19 cruise on the Sunshine.  A future cruise credit acts like a payment.  It doesn't lower the rate or change the rate code.  Future cruise credits are also given when you cancel an early saver cruise.

Back a quite a few years ago Carnival would sell FCC's on the cruise you were on for 100$. If you bought it you could use it toward a future cruise and there were additional perks that went with it that I can't remember off hand but I believe it was some kind of on board credit. It has been several years since they have done this and was hoping they had brought it back.

  4. We went on Triumph at Christmas time.

Definitely check out Nickola and Ivona at the Alchemy bar. They are great. Make some great drinks too!

The comedians were good. Hell Yeah!!!

The girl in the piano bar was a good singer but didn't have much personality when I was in there so didn't go back. Usually really enjoy the piano bar.

In Cozumel we just went out and rented a taxi for the day to take us around the island. 100$ for the afternoon. The far side of the island is so different from the pier side.

I took a Carnival tour to the Uxmal ruin site in Progresso. You can walk up one of the temples there where you can't at the others I don't believe. It is 1 hour 45 minute bus ride to the site so didn't want to chance a private tour just in case as you never know with traffic going that far away.

Country inn and suites in Metairie has a park n cruise package that includes a shuttle to the port  to but you have to find your own transportation back. Shuttle driver can sign you up for one at $10/person. Lyft/Uber is about $15-20.

As someone mentioned the Westbank Holiday inn has a package. It was more expensive when I priced it for my last cruise and it had no transportation but someone told me they contract out a shuttle service for a nominal fee.

I’ve heard prytania park in the garden district allows fee parking with a two night stay...no transportation.

Another thing you may want to check on is the holiday inn Metairie. Like you may have to call them. Someone recently told me they do have a park n cruise package even though it isn’t advertised on their website.

We stayed at the Holiday In West Bank and left the vehicle there with their park and cruise package. They recommend a shuttle company there at the front desk. They were great getting to the port only $5 per person if you have 3 or more. But I tried calling all morning when we got back and they never answered the phone so took an Uber that picked us up right there outside the terminal. I tossed their card when I got home so don't remember the name of the company.

  6. While the ship is at the pier there is sales tax added to each drink. Once you are away from the pier and at sea they no longer add taxes to each drink. Cheers or not.

Gratuites are added to each drink if paying by the drink. If you have the cheers package there is no gratuity added per drink.

  7. We were just there and walked out from the ship through the gauntlet of stores and got to the taxi stand. We rented a cab for 4 hours for a hundred bucks. The guy took us all around the touristy side and then to the far side of the island.

Stopped at a tequila tasting. They don't actually make it there. Gave us a margarita upon entering and a tour of how it is made and then sampling and of course trying to sell us some. Pretty pricey though so we passed on purchasing any..

The far side of the island is quite different than the touristy side but beautiful in it's own way. The driver stopped a couple of places for pictures and showed us an alligator.

  8. We have sailed from Norfolk a couple of times. Usually the ship is transiting in May to NY to do summer Canadian sailings. Then again in October  on the way back to Miami in the fall. Definitely book early as we have never seen the price go down. Here is some info on the Sunrise for you. We actually just got off the 'Triumph last week as we no longer live in the Tidewater area.
