  1. Okay. Thanks for the info.

If they can't give it to me in cash, can they refund it on the credit card on my account?

    Is that even possible?

I don't mind the 3% fee since it's likely going to be less than $100, but I thought that since I purchased the OBC, I would be able to get the cash back.

The last time I asked that question I was told all refunds would be given back to the credit card that purchased the on board credit. That's fine if it is your credit card, not so fine if it gets refunded to your TA

  2. How do you know what is available? I remember seeing a list of liquor for an upcoming trip (300 days out)......but I don't remember seeing any other lists of available liquors.

As suite guests, my friends were contacted via email before the cruise and we asked for the prices of what they wanted.

As a mere peon in a balcony ;) , I've called up NCL and asked for a price list for a bar set up.

  3. That sounds like a reasonable solution. Let the room stewards know your plans so they can arrange your cabins accordingly.

I kind of disagree about 'needing' to pay additional tip....unless you just so desire to do it. After all, you are already paying the correct DSC, so maybe let the stewards work that out between themselves. Or, if the steward is really fantastic, then do give them an additional tip. That's my thought, I'm certain some will disagree, but it's still my opinion.

I suggest the cash tip because the steward is being given extra work. The stewards "could" work out the DSC difference between them once NCL passes it along to them, but my feeling is that the 1 steward is accommodating the cabin change and taking on extra work at my request so it would be my responsibility to make sure he or she is appropriately compensated.

To each his own though. The poster will do what they feel is right to them. :)

  4. When planning our upcoming cruise, I contacted both NCL and a local travel agent.

Advantage NCL - cruise fare locked in. (Promos not locked) rooms saved for us.

Advantage TA - we were given the same $25 group amenity offered by NCL as well as additional on board credit for each cabin. Also, each room was a tiny bit cheaper.

I polled my family and everyone with an opinion wanted the cheaper fare/more onboard credit.

It was a good decision because we then all booked before the end of July. In August the promotions changed and UDP was changed to SDP. Also, anyone that pre pays the DSC will pay the old price. Also, there was a booking promo so we were able secure our cabins for $400 instead of $800 for the longer cruise.

I'd suggest you call NCL and a local agent and see what works best for you and your group.

  5. The only thing is that this is a 3rd person in a cabin moving. The room steward in the originally booked cabin will be expecting to make up a the bed for that 3rd person and the room steward in the "Moved to Cabin" will not be expecting to make up an extra bed. If the two cabins have different stewards, then the second steward will not get his portion of the service charge since that room is not scheduled to have three people in it. Keys are no problem but getting the extra bed made up may be a problem. We did a family cruise about two years ago and changed people around in the cabins but never had an extra person placed in another cabin.

    Flowers makes two good points.

I would let both cabin stewards know ASAP about the bedding arrangements so they are both aware of the increased and decreases workload.

I would pay the DSC as usual and also tip the steward with the now increased workload in cash.

  6. Wondering if anyone has ever switched out the liquor provided in an owners suite for super premium liquor.

IE: Single malt scotches or high end tequila

I've seen switches for Well to premium..but not the higher end stuff.

    Thanks!

If this helps any, few years ago my friend was able to pay an up charge and get Patron Anejo, they switched something else too, but I don't remember what. It might have been Hennesy Privelege or Remy Martin VSOP.

I've heard of butlers switching gratis but we arranged for it through emails with the concierge ahead of time.

  7. My family and I are staying in the Family Oceanview State Room 5172 on the October 4th sailing. Does anyone know what is above our stateroom? I know there are no other staterooms above until the 8th deck. Just curious how noisy it's going to be. Thank you.

    A ship would be helpful.

CC posters are prety awesome, but they dont all know what ship is sailing when, nor which one you are booked on. :D lol

  8. Like others say, iconcierge is an option.

I've brought along post it notes (we've used regular ones and magnetic post it pads) and stuck them to all my traveling companions doors along with a mini pen. We could leave messages on our own or each others doors. It worked well for us.

  9. Hello,

I've a question regarding a possible book. In this moment we're 3 in family but we're thinking in another baby for next year and cruising in 2017. Is there a problem to book a deal for 2017 with a fictitious name and when baby born, to update the name for the real one?

No problem at all. Go for it and congrats!!

  10. So we are booked in a 2 bed suite on Escape with the current plan booked in May but cruise is not until 2016

I would much rather have prepaid gratuities than shore credit since we do our own excursions and from what I understand I can not save them up and spend them all at one port. We are family of 4 and $75 a port does not cover it.

Is it obnoxious to get a requote from my travel agent cancel and rebook...since we are so far out. Can I get my same room? there are still plenty of 2 beds available but I like out location.

It is not obnoxious at all. I hope you save some money. :D

  11. Book now. As mentioned earlier, now you get 3rd free and get to choose a perk, but starting from saturday that will be one of the perks that you can choose from so it's one or another after that.

Also, here is the cancellation fee schedule, your non-free cancellation period starts 75 days before the cruise - before that you can cancel for free:

    Spot on. Book now!
