  1. Switched flight FCO (Rome) to LHR to BCN to LHR after cruise line, Oceania, switched end port to Barcelona.

Even, in the circumstances, B.A. would not wave the Change Fee.

Then, about 10 days later, they canceled the Barcelona flight.

They would not refund fare, but, issued a future voucher for one year, worthless to me, and, would not refund the Change Fee.

How can they possibly justify a Change Fee for an aborted/canceled flight change?

I don't quite understand the misconception about cancellation of a cruise. In your documents it lists all the conditions in ref. to time and penalties. If you cancel within 59 days of the cruise, you forfeit 00 % of the full fare.

We had two cruises cancelled due to COVID-19 and both times Oceania did either refund total costs plus any paid shore excursion, etc.  or a Future Cruise Credit of a certain percentage above the fare. Reimbursement was prompt and accomplished in a fair and good manner.  I am at a loss of why there is even a discussion about it.

''Mr.or Ms. EXCITED/Congratulations/Your timing obviously lucked out for you/Not so for many others of us.

We not so fortunate with timing are not being treated fairly. I canceled a cruise about 2 hours before Oceania announced cancellations. Resultant thereof I was denied refund, acquired FCC instead, but at only 100%, not the 125% offered those who didn't cancel themselves.

An added note, when re-booking, the FCC is considered a SAVINGS, not a deposit or payment, and you'll need to make a new cash deposit of $750pp. And, your travel agent, who wasn't protected for commission on the cancellation. will receive little or no commission on the re-book since the FCC is being treated as a SAVINGS, not a payment.

And, for Jan, talk to the BOSS and get this travesty corrected.

I will be very honest with you..your FCC and/or refunds will probably take 90 days or more..it is a zoo in their office and now agents will be working from home which will slow things down again..Oceania is not grandfathering anything in..what you got when you canceled is what you get..Their may be a time in the future (IMHO) when it could be looked at again but that is just my wishful thinking..

I am glad for what I got as I am worried that some  smaller lines will got out of business..

    Jan

Sorry Jan, but many of us canceled days after Oceania should have canceled which, in my case, was several days after Princess and Viking canceled. We should not be penalized for our prompt action.

Perhaps a chat with the BOSS is in order.

DH and I disembarked earlier this week from same Caribbean cruise.  Last sailed Riviera in November 2019 and noticed a huge change-over in personnel since then.  New Captain (an improvement!), new GM and new Cruise Director.  Food in all four specialties met our high expectations but there were some misses in the GDR.  Tough steak from the Jacques Pepin menu and very eye-appealing but tasteless filet mignon.  Thankfully, Toscana and Polo still brilliant.  DH hates self-service and fighting for seats in the Terrace so we had most breakfasts and lunches in the GDR.  Fell in love with the halibut Salad Nicoise.  Has replaced Surf and Turf from Waves as my "go to" lunch favorite.  Disappointed in the availability and quality of lobster on board.  Rubbery.  A first world problem, I know!  Room service coffee was worse than ever, but Barristas is sublime and a favorite hang-out with great little snacks too.  Humphry Slocombe ice-cream was new to me and I over-indulged.  Elvis the Fat Years, Secret Breakfast, all kinds of yummy flavors.  Oceania, please keep these treats coming!  Wait staff in all locations were trying their best but seemed over-worked.  Agree with previous poster who said music was outdated.  Fun by the pool deck but dreary in Horizons.  Used to enjoy happy hour there, but this time around it was geriatric music with an off-key crooner.  Thankfully the drinks were 2-for-1 so that eased the suffering.  On past cruises have seldom used the pool deck because preferred to be off exploring.  The goal on this cruise was R&R with my husband so we sought seats in the shade and were introduced to the "chair hog" phenomenon.  It was virtually impossible to find two seats together so we were often separated while many books, bags, sunglasses, etc luxuriated cosily together.  Yes, we asked the pool attendants for help but without much success.  All in all it was a good trip and we are booked on Marina in April, corona virus permitting.  Can't say we noticed any extra hygiene precautions on this trip except for reminders to be vigilant about hand-washing. As always, we met nice and interesting fellow passengers.  That along with the food and interesting itineraries is the reason we often sail with Oceania.

Why are the extremes the only options. Is there no such thing as a fully capable ship’s captain that can make an appearance?

Just for the record, I could care less if I never meet the Captain or senior crew. On our cruise last February in FP, the Captain never appeared for a single event. The GM normally stood in for him. At the farewell the CD did. Didn’t affect my cruise one iota, as said before “ if he doesn’t want to meet me, then...”. However, I do find it strange when they decide to never appear.

Another item to add. I like Captain Max. Nice enough seeming guy, had him probably at least 3 times. However, a large percentage of O cruisers are repeaters, therefore, when he appears at a function and tells the exact same stories and jokes year after year and cruise after cruise, imo, he really doesn’t have to appear anymore!

  6. Okay, here goes!

    1) The aft elevator doesn't go down to the dining room. We both have knee issues, as well as one of our two traveling companions, so, we all had to schlep to the front elevators to go down, and, then schlep half way across the ship to the dining room.

    2) Then, when in the dining room, to go to the facilities, you have to schlep cross country to get to them, passing the casino and shops on one side and the Explorer Lounge and shops on the other side.  You don't have to be a genius to recognize that the facilities should be closer to the restaurant.

    3) The lighting in the Observation lounge is awful. Less than half the seats are agreeable to reading.

    4) The Observation Lounge does not have a coffee facility. You need to schlep from below, the coffee lounge or go cross country to the other side of the pool. Further, why doesn't the neighboring card room which offers soda and water also offer coffee. Oceania's two ships, Marina and Riviera, offer coffee, etc. in that lounge.

    5) They offer two ''SLIMLINE'' elevators in the front of the ship. FDR and others should have recognized from Riviera and Marina, ages ago, that it was an awful design. Passengers in the front need to exit to allow those in the back to exit.

    6) The dining room is nothing special. We prefer the openness of Marina and Riviera. We'd equate Explorer with the Viking ships.

    7) The pool grill is pitiful. First visit was about 10 minutes for a hamburger. Second visit was over twenty minutes. When I confronted a head waiter, his response was'' I guess everybody was looking for a hamburger today''. I responded that he should probably still we waiting tables.

    8) The most pitiful internet service ever received on a crossing. There were none even close to that bad, and, we had done over forty crossings before, including 6 on Sea Dream, a tiny ship with less than 100 passengers.

I could add a few complaints as to the service, but, I'll let that pass.

    Cheerio!
