  1. good morning Gregg. We had friends on board who were Silversea first timers. They said they enjoyed the Cruise but were critical of the Food choice. The weather was dreadful with very heavy Seas which resulted in a couple of missed Ports. They felt the ship was unable to cope with so many Guests being confined indoors for long periods ( this could be said for most Ships ). They are however used to larger Ships and this may have been a factor.

This particular Cruise is subject to very changeable weather at the time of the year on this routing so be prepared. Hope this helps in your decision.

  2. Good morning Joe 90 - Silver Spectre is correct in saying your Agent should get in touch with the US direct if London cannot assist. Over the years the London Office has not always performed with distinction but recently my dealings with them have improved noticeably. Unfortunately their own channels of communication with the US Office often leave a lot to be desired.

I feel that you need to talk personally to The Head of Reservations & Guest Services. From my experience you will receive good attention.

I hope this helps and wish you a wonderful Cruise.

  3. I for one will be so pleased if Silversea dispense with this needless item - for years I have asked our TA not to send the Docs in it as it will not fit through our Letterbox. If we are out when the Post arrives I have to travel 16 miles Roundtrip to collect a Box which having emptied it, I throw away. In this age of cost cutting to withdraw this item makes more sense than seeking cost cutting measures on board.

  4. Good morning Gollane - we have been on the Wind twice since April and have not experienced any unpleasant odours. However we do not tend to visit the Suite areas on 5 Deck, confining ourselves to The Bar and Shop !!!! so cannot be specific regarding the area around 529.

We feel the ship to be in a fine state and during our 4 Cruises we experienced wonderful Food & Service and there was little room for any complaint.

I hope this helps and am sure you will have a wonderful time aboard.

  5. Good morning Brimary - It was pure luck that a Friend of ours tried to book the Combo to join us and his Agent advised that the 2nd Segment had gone completely WaitList. She investigated somehow and found out that a US Corporate Incentive Group have already booked 40+ Suites and have an Option to go Full Charter at some stage ?

As you can imagine a Full Charter would suit us best but if not I don't want to be onboard !!! - One episode of Bread Roll throwing across the Main Dining Room is quite sufficient for one lifetime !!!!!

    I will keep you posted.

  6. Brimary - Greetings to you both. We are off to the Wind in 2 weeks to meet up with The Bowens from Chicago ( longstanding Venetians who you may know ? ). We have 6 Cruises booked on Wind for 2014 but due to one of those common ' Shoreside Office ' Group Issues, we may transfer 2 to the Cloud - hope to meet up with you again soon - happy Cruising.

  7. We have recently disembarked Silver Cloud after a superb Baltic Cruise. Whilst it is difficult to answer your concerns specifically as we all have differing viewpoints on Service/Hardware I will try to be helpful. The Cloud is now approaching 20 years old and will therefore not be as smart/glitzy as the new ships - however for some this is its particular charm. From our perspective, following the recent Refit, she continues to be a very comfortable ship. The Crew are magnificent and truly want to make ones holiday a success. We found the Food and Wine to be excellent and overall Service levels were, in our opinion, very good in all Departments.

The latest news regarding the failure of The Silver Shadow to meet CDC Inspection requirements is indeed shocking. However, as with any Hotel/Restaurant throughout the world, the Customer rarely has an idea of what happens behind the scenes. We can only comment on what we have seen.

We would have no hesitation in travelling on Silver Cloud again.

I hope this provides some measure of comfort but ultimately one has to be happy at the start of a trip or the result will probably not meet expectations.

  8. Good morning Duct Tape - we are sorry to hear that the present Cruise was blighted by a Charter ( Every part Charter we have been involved with on Silversea has produced the same outcome and now we try desperately not to sign up if there is the slightest hint of one ). We hope that your brief trip home is smooth and that your forthcoming Iceland adventure goes well - we may stand on the banks of the Thames to wave you off !!!

Have a great time and hope to meet up again soon.

  9. Good afternoon Duct Tape ( and companion !!! ). Having arrived back in the UK safely and without hassle J & I would like to thank you both for making our trip so special.

It was, as well recorded by Terry, a very special Cruise aided by good weather,a superb Crew and a good bunch of guests. Silversea should be very proud of The Cloud family and hopefully will listen to their Venetian members and keep this lovely ship in service for many years to come.

We wish you a happy current cruise ( albeit I guess that the Guest make up is somewhat different ? ) and many more to come - we hope to catch up with you again soon. Have fun.
