  1. Thank you for all your advice! We are scheduled to fly in the day of our December cruise on the POA using Hawaiian Airlines out of Phoenix. I know what we are doing is very risky but trying to coordinate vacation schedules for four people has been a nightmare. I'm very glad to hear that the airline took good care of you. Traveling is such an adventure, isn't it?:)

  2. Jkgourmet,

I'm curious as to what you mean by NCL is different from the other lines. We have booked the POA for the week of Christmas and are going with an open mind. We have never sailed on NCL but are seasoned cruisers. I too, have read the reviews and they are all over the place. We are just thrilled to be going to Hawaii!!

  3. I am new to NCL, but a very seasoned cruiser. We are a family of 4, with two daughters 26 and 22. We will be booking the POA the week of Christmas. We will book two cabins. A balcony cabin is a must but I don't think we can afford a suite. The way I'm interpreting the ship diagram, balcony cabins are of different sizes and may overlook a pool??

Does anyone have suggestions for me?

    Thank you in advance!

  4. We were at Maya Key last March. At that time it was about 17 dollars to rent snorkel equipment. You also can purchase a sea lion encounter while visiting.

Water, tea, lemonade are included with your lunch. They do have a bar to purchase drinks and a waiter may come to the beach and take your drink order. There is a small gift shop so you may want to buy something from the gift shop.

  5. I am curious about your experiences with the Caye Caulker water taxis. Are they reliable and punctual? We are considering a trip there from our princess cruise in March. Not necessarily looking for a beach but something away from the port. We shopped in the port area last year and did a ship excursion to Goff's Caye so we are looking for something different. Our ship's excursions are mostly booked up.

  6. The cooking class at Playa Mia was a blast! However, the menu is set by the chef before you arrive. It was still one of our favorite excursions. You will have about an hour to enjoy the beach after the class.
