  1. Planning a Baltic Cruise this summer - usual itinerary. What is unusual for our travels is the number of countries visited with differing currency. We have Denmark (Kroner), Sweden (Krona), Finland (Euro), Russia (Ruble), Estonia (Euro), Germany (Euro), Norway (Krone).

Will I need local currency for them all or can I plan to use my credit card for everything?

I have a chipped credit card with a PIN that I can use overseas. If it would change any thinking, I plan to spend 3 days in and around Copenhagen prior to embarking on the cruise.

Advice on what you did if you traveled this itinerary before would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi-

We have been on the CB twice and received new medallions each time. We have ordered our new medallions for our cruise on the Regal. We never used our cruise card on the CB. The medallion worked everywhere for us.

I went to Office Depot and purchased badge clips that work great for $2.99. See photo.

I like this - especially with the pull-out string. Will have to see if there is an option that doesn't need a beltloop - since many women's pants don't have them .

  3. Does it still come with a wristband in the box?

I’ve watched one “unboxing” video that shows included wristbands, but then I also have read folks talking about ordering bands from Amazon. Or does it have a sleeve you can use to put it in your wallet or hang from a lanyard like many did with the card?

And, speaking of card, do we still need to carry a cruise card?

Any recent cruisers on a Medallion ship?

    Yes.

Such good news! My husband and I have always shared our minutes to download the newspapers to our tablets and such, very used to keeping it one device at a time. We didn’t know if we would have to buy one or two plans and I had not heard that you could connect as many devices as you use, just keeping it one at a time. Good to know we can still share the one plan.

  5. Does anyone have the Princess Patters from the Northern Europe cruise- or can you point me to a topic with them already posted?

I'm looking for the 11-day cruise that includes St. Petersburg (plus Estonia, Berlin, Norway, Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Helsinki). My husband, sister, and I are going on this itinerary in the summer with the Regal Princess.

(I used to be able to sort through messages on Cruise Critic using key words, but I've been away for a while and am still learning how to use the newest sort features. I will keep trying, but thought I'd ask for help, too.)

Thanks for any help the experienced Cruise Critic members can give me.

  6. Sailed in a Spa Haven Suite on both Breakaway and Getaway - loved it! We’re doing an Aft Haven on theEpic next and purchased spa passes - that’s how much we love the Thermal Spa. Will spend most days at sea and almost every other afternoon there. Getting it as part of the cabin is the best!

Some cabins on the Away class do have the “pole” - but I think I posted a list if you look for it. Some cabins have sofas (which we did not prefer because it was not a comfortable seat for dining), some have a small table and two chairs.

Never had a problem with noise. Didn’t mind being outside the Haven - walked in whenever we wanted.

Found the whirlpool tub in the room a waste of space - but others must love it.

  7. BlueHerons - Interesting idea, but we'll have luggage. (Not light travelers.) Have visited Orlando many times, and will visit again, but probably not in a 2-3 hour window prior to a flight. Thanks!

JohninDC - Good point. I'll have to check on how late we CAN stay on board. On a MSC cruise last spring, we were able to stay in the lounge until we were ready to leave, but that may not be the case on the Epic.

    Thanks to both of you.

  8. Disembarking the NCL Epic on March 2. Flying home out of Orlando. I am NOT someone who has to hurry off and be the first in line - my flight out of Orlando isn't until 2 PM.

So how long can I wait before disembarking? No need to join the 8 AM frenzy if I don't have to. But then I've seen reports that sometimes it takes 2-3 HOURS to get to Orlando because of traffic on disembarkation days.

Can I disembark as late at 10 AM? Will that get me to Orlando (plan to us a shuttle service) by 12:00 noon?

    Thanks for your experience.

  9. I have been reading reviews of the rental car companies' service receiving cars and shuttling passengers embarking cruise ships at Port Canaveral ... and all I can say is "Yikes". I realize the majority of people who have adequate experiences don't post on Yelp, but I don't want to start my cruise with a bad experience.

So, I am thinking about dropping my car after hours the night before when we arrive in Cape Canaveral, taking a cab or Uber back to our hotel, and taking the hotel shuttle directly to the Port. There will be two of us with 2 suitcases and 2 overnight cases.

Has anyone done it this way, instead of dropping the morning of and taking the rental shuttle to the port? Any disadvantages?

What is your best advice for a smooth and pleasant embarkation when you need to return a rental car? Is there a company you have used that manages things well?

    Thanks for any helpful perspectives.

  10. A good tourist rate hotel is the Holiday Inn Port of Miami. Old hotel, but clean, affordable, and right across from Bayside Marketplace (stores, entertainment, and restaurants). Can book a room with a bay view to see the ships. We have stayed there several times and would return.
