A little more digging and I think I found my own answer haha. As long as 1st arrival is by air - the subsequent arrivals can be air, land or sea. All are covered by getting the Visa On Arrival...
With all the comings and goings you do want to make sure you get it right or your holiday will be ruined.

Less suits IMHO, Gut. No more than 60% total in suits or tuxes, the rest in shirts (usually long sleeved), sometimes a tie and/or sometimes a blazer.
You probably could pick up a cheap blazer at a fire sale, use it as a blanket on the flight to Australian then donate it to one of the many charity bins that exist everywhere.

We're on the 28 day March 24 cruise, with only 4 formal nights. Seems silly to take DH's suit to "the other end of the world" for 4 nights! I'm sure we won't starve if barred from the dining room.
Enjoy your cruise!
PS Love the Aussie sense of humour!
To enhance and enrich your tour downunder you should also swot up on the following thread

We may be on the same cruise. Sea Princess March 10? I was wondering if the Aussies were more casual. Note we are from US. I am so close to pulling my suit jacket and ties out of my bag. Had dress slacks and a crisp shirts for MDR. Main concern thou are the two formal nights. Dinner MDR is one thing but I feel like the two formal nights will still want to add at least a jacket. Would like more feedback from other Aussies. On second thought hell the two ties take up not space £#%¥£€%! Will check back later. Departure is getting close.
Some will dress up but there will be plenty with just a shirt or shirt and tie (but don't forget the pants), so if you want to travel light then bring the ties only.

You may to check out this thread in which I asked for advice on clothing to take on a Singapore to Sydney cruise which mainly consisted of Aussies
-
He will probably be "overdressed" in slacks, shirt and tie - Aussies are very casual on sailings in our turf.

Good to see that the cyclo ride was preorganised and enjoyed.
But for the benefit of anyone reading this thread, please do not hire a cyclo "off the street" under any circumstances as you will have heap of trouble to deal with and will be "ripped off".
Anyone wanting to hire a cyclo should do so through their tour company or hotel and have the ride organised by them and prepaid.

Not a lovely day for me today, I am not on any of the ships in Sydney Harbour.
Not happy Jan

Not just chair hogs either, hand washing, line jumping, dress codes.....
It seems to me there are two problems with enforcement.
1. I’m not sure senior staff stand up for the crew enough when a passenger complains.
2. Tipping. If the crew enforce a rule their tip may disappear.
Oh, I thought you meant hand washing your undies in the bathroom?
I lot of passengers, including my good self, would be in a lot of trouble if a ban on this practice was inforced???

Red backs are the least of your worries.
Now Sydney Funnelweb, White Tail and a few others???
I got bitten by a spider yesterday, while seeking out the rare, elusive and rarely seen oohmedoodle bird in the dense bush in the south west of Western Australia.
At least it was not a red back spider as my bum has not turned red like the red stripe on the said spider's back.
And thank goodness we do not have Funnelweb spiders in the West.
No sympathy from my wife though, whose only concern seems to be how I got bitten on my rear end - and I am not going there!!!

Naples is one of my fav ports. Easiest would be to walk out the terminal and negotiate a price with one of the waiting taxis. Shouldn't take too long and make for a fun ride the way local taxis drive! Cheaper option would be to walk out the terminal and catch a tram a couple of kms down the road to the train station ( I think it's Stazione Garibaldi) and then take a train to Pompeii station about 30 mins away. You may have to buy tram ticket from a news kiosk or similar on the footpath. Ask locals to point you in right direction as you walk out of port. Been a few years since I did this myself, but was pretty easy. You could google to find exact names of stations etc I've just mentioned.
Just a short walk from the port is a tram stop and kiosk (where you can buy a ticket), get the tram to the train station then a train out to Pompeii - Did this a couple of years ago and it was easy peasy. The guy at the Kiosk spoke english so no problems in getting the directions but I had researched it before I left home so knew the routine and the route to take.
But just watch out for pickpockets, my friend who was travelling with me had his wallet taken from his pocket as soon as the tram left the stop - apparently fairly common.

Is everything on this thread true? What are the chances we’ll run into one of those spiders in Sydney? What are the chances that a Koala Bear will pee on us while holding it? Holding one of these bears is a huge dream of mine and we’re doing a tour of the sanctuary.
Just come on down and enjoy your holiday - and the Aussie humour as well - we love to take the mickey out of everything and everyone, in a nice way of course.
Why your chances of encountering a red back spider, a croc jumping into your boat or a koala peeing on you is about the same as finding a raccoon in the attic of the five star hotel you might stay in while in Sydney.
And raccoons are not even a native animal to Australia.

As intending and most welcome visitors to our great country downunder you may like to swot up on the following thread (although a year old is still relevant today as it was then.

What month are you visiting, as in the winter months Middleton Beach will not be that nice for a few hours on the beach.

From the New York Times Travel Section coming this Sunday, they have this headline: “52 Places to Go in 2018” with these highlights for this part of Australia: “Australia’s remote Top End — the northernmost hunk of the Northern Territory — is experiencing an uptick of tourism to its aboriginal communities, the world’s oldest civilizations, according to 2017 DNA analysis. The 2017 Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair saw record crowds, while new camps, tours, and indigenous partnerships are afoot in 2018. Venture North known for exclusive access tours to Aboriginal Homelands of Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land, expands with a second camp dedicated to visitors seeking cultural experiences and indigenous rock awhile Aboriginal-owned Pudakul Tours opens a six-room camp perched on a crocodile-filled billabong. The region’s small cities — Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine — are seeing new markets and indigenous centers, giving visitors hubs to appreciate the vast region’s diverse cultures.”
This area sounds great and we would hope to visit there in the future. Lots of options for Australia. Just need more money and time. In a little over a week, we will be doing our first visit to Southeast Asia. This will feature Hong Kong, Bangkok, Vietnam and Cambodia, including a seven-day Mekong River cruise, then Angkor Wat, Hanoi, Halong Bay and Hue/Danang. We will be gone a little over one month for this latest “adventure”.

Not sure if I would want to camp "perched on a crocodile filled billabong"
Our salt water crocs are positively nasty and are renown for stalking prey for days on end to get a feed.
I like to eat crocodile but do not wish it to be the other way round

Just remember, if you are wanting to do a cyclo ride make sure it is booked throught an agent or your hotel and prepaid.
Do not under any circumstances decide to do a ride on the spur of the moment and make your own arrangements, it will most like end in disaster and cost you a heap of money. The scams with the drivers are legendary.

Before you get too "high and mighty", you might want to check your grammar and spelling. :DLOL, don't you mean hi and mitey?;p
Oh this is halarious

One of the best kept secrets in the world!
I always knew that I live in the best city in the best country in the world.
Certainly did not need CNN to tell me that but we are happy to accept tourists from anywhere in the world as we need your money so that the Government can continue to pay high wages for our workers and my pension for us Aussies.

We sail Celebrity Millenium on Feb 18 and our cruise docs say $6 each for our visas. 3 ports in Vietnam.
Sent from my iPad using Forums
Yes Celebrity are reasonable for their visa charges unlike a lot of the other cruise lines who have discovered they can gouge their passengers to add to their profits. Princess, for example have had a huge increase in the cost of their visa fees for Vietnam, Indonesia, something in the range of $50 odd USD per person I believe.

We will be in Sydney for 3 days before flying to Ayres Rock? Any suggestions for guided tours or places we must see.
Thanks.

Looks like a case of putting the cart before the horse at this stage!

Without doubt you would need a detailed Medical report clearly stating the issues and why the person is unable to travel'at the specified time.
But you should speak to the insurer, they will tell you what you require.
But if the medical issue is deemed to be as a result of a per-existing issue which was not disclosed at the time of purchasing the insurance then be prepared for trouble.

We are disembarking from our cruise in Sydney and plan to take a cab to the airport. That is the only time that we will be in Australia. Will we be able to charge our cab ride or do we have to get some Australian money?
DON
Yes the do but will add a surcharge for doing so (can be up to 5 percent.

I will be cruising on the Norwegian Jewel next month and have day excursions set up for Vietnam. I am from the US. Can you please tell me about Visas? Is one needed for a day tour with a company? I am getting all kinds of different answers including different answers from NCL.
Thanks,
Penny
In the two cruises I have done in Vietnam (Princess and Azamara) which included passengers from USA, the visa was organised by the ship and charged to your onboard account,
Go to the NCL board and ask the question there as no doubt there will be people on previous NCL cruises to Vietnam to give you advice.
Vietnam Visa question? VOA or at embassy?

Your cruise ship will organise your Vietnam visas and you will be charged on your shipboard account.
Some like Princess cruises are expensive and are really gouging their passengers. Others like Celebrity are only charging $6 USD per passengers, at last check anyway.
Singapore and HK are no problems for you.
