  1. Canadian here also with probably very similar benefits to you. Im thinking they probably refused the claim because its probably extremely hard for the benefits provider to check if the RMT is actually a registered therapist (especially if they are from another country).

I know when I have claimed we get an official receipt on headed paper etc. and then just submit an online claim with the RMT's info. I imagine its extremely easy for a provider to check registration within Canada v those from outside the country.

I had talked about doing this to someone I know who has taken way more cruises than me and they thought it was a long shot that our provider would cover such a claim.

  2. We were on Bonaire Christmas 2016. Went snorkelling with Woodwind in the morning and then in the afternoon we wandered to a bar called El Mundo. Its an open sided but roofed bar where you can buy local beers etc. Was pretty hopping at the time but that is probably due to the ship being in port. When we got off the ship we walked to the left past all the private tour companies and taxi's and you eventually find the bar. Also, they had a local market set up on the day the ship was in port, selling things like hot sauces or charity stalls for animal rescue etc. selling key chains and what not. Was good fun just to walk around and pick up some different souvenirs.

If you use google maps you can zoom in on the island and restaurants and bars etc. will pop up and a lot of them do have websites you can check out menus etc.

  3. So it appears that Norwegian is starting to send out updated itineraries for the Jade for the December 18th sailing. They have changed all the ports and have dropped from 6 to 5 ports. This obviously affects what people have paid as its now past final payment date. Will they refund it to the credit card provided or would they just do it as an on board credit. Obviously its still 10 weeks away and its not going to be a huge amount of money, just wondering how they will handle it.

As an after thought, are there different port fees and different taxes for different ports. I doubt they are all the same so I imagine somebody has to be working out the new costs for the new ports etc.

  4. We went with them at Christmas. My wife has quite a strong eyeglass prescription but they had prescription masks that worked great for her. They were also very good with her in the water as she was quite nervous about the whole thing so the guide stayed close to her and helped her out.

They provided drinks while on board (soft drinks only i think, they might have sold beer but I cant quite remember) plus there was some kind of meal provided once we were out of the water and heading back to shore.

They also have a photographer that will go in the water with you and will take very high quality underwater shots and you can buy them after wards (I believe they load them onto a portable USB drive to take home)

Nice snorkel trip though we went in the morning and found the water was very choppy so maybe afternoon is better?

Very easy to find as well. Get off the ship and turn right and keep walking along the shore line and then through a hotel area. Maybe a 5 minute walk if that. You are very close to the ship

  5. We were on Navigator at Christmas. We had to ask our cabin attendant for a laundry bag (paper bag with prices marked on it) to be provided. The secret to filling the bag without tearing it was to tightly roll all your dirty clothing, and i mean tightly and then we put it in a plastic bag (white garbage bag style) and then squeezed all the air out of that and very gently eased it into the paper bag. Sounds like a bit of work I know but you can pack an awful lot in there if you try hard enough...!!

  6. So I have searched their FAQ's, googled and then tried to follow links but every time I search I get taken to links about cruising to Cuba.

If you search under "Money Matters" under their FAQ's you can find whats included and it tells you what is not included but there does not seem to be a link to show you in more detail how much you pay per person etc.

Just wondering if this is a glitch in their website. I'm up in Canada but I doubt that would affect the search.

  7. I have only parked in the indoor parking/multi story parking at Miami but from what I have seen on Google maps street view the over sized vehicle parking lot is just one big lot with secure gates/barriers at either end etc. I would suggest going on to Google maps and do a "drive around" on the streets and you get a better idea. I know they say its patrolled by security etc. and we felt that our truck was safe while we were gone for 16 days last December/January.

A lot of the Florida residents on this board recommend parking at the port in Miami rather than picking some less secure or safer options away from the port. It is more expensive but when you weigh the cost up against how much you pay for your vehicle then I think its a good choice. We will be parking there again this December.

Not much help I know but its probably their best option if they are taking a cruise out of the port. The only other option I could think of would be to park the RV at a trailer/rv park somewhere and then taxi or Uber it in from there.

Yup...seriously. I don't have to tip the Captain or senior officers so obviously they are being compensated from somewhere, some magical fund of money apparently if its not my cruise fare.

You have already stooped to name calling "bad person""cheap" and "terrible human being" to name but a few from your most recent posts.

Its ok to t be a cheerleader if thats what you want. But lay off the insults and the "holier than thou" attitude. No wonder people stay away from Cruise Critic, its people like you who hide behind their keyboards and just make it worse for the everybody else by bullying everybody else.

  9. And you are cheap. Period. You take it out on the less fortunate. That's ok, but at least stop making excuses for it. It's been explained over and over how employee compensation works. It IS very much a major part of their "standard compensation" and removing tips is stiffing them. That's not even a debatable fact. But you will partake in some pretty intense written gymnastics, I'm sure, to try and argue otherwise. Tipping is not mandatory but it's absolutely how employees are compensated. You don't want them to be compensated? Fine, you can do that, but it says a heck of a lot about you - and none of it's positive.

But keep protesting and stiffing the staff. You'll show those underprivileged, overworked and underpaid crew what's up!!! Good for you!!!

So if tipping/gratuities are "compensating the staff". Then what the hell is my cruise fare doing?

  10. Get real people!!!!! People's lives and property will be affected adversely by this massive storm. There are more important things than having your cruise cut short! My suggestion would be to channel your energy towards prayers for those who live in the path of destruction.

Im sorry but "prayers" will do nobody any good apart from making the person praying feel a bit better about themselves. Im sure those on the affected islands are so happy that you are praying for them, rather than sending blankets, food or fresh water.

Maybe put your energy into finding out from relief agencies what kind of supplies etc. they are looking for and put your energy into helping them out, either via donations of money, blood or whatever else they are asking for.

  11. OP here. So yes, I am talking about purchasing the obstructed view, not a free upgrade. Currently the dining package would cost us approx $230 for both my wife and I. With it being included as a freebie along with the drink package on the obstructed view cabin (and we eat in the specialty restaurants so we would have probably bought it separately anyway) the boost to the slightly better cabin works out to about $170 for the 10 day cruise. ($400 for the total cost of the upgrade minus the dining package)

  12. In mid December we disembark from our 7 day Rhapsody cruise in Tampa and then will be driving to Fort Lauderdale to spend the night before embarking on another cruise out of Miami.

Just wondering if any locals know where we might be able to stop along the way to have a chance at viewing Manatee's in the wild.

From Google maps we would be driving down to Naples then across the Everglades to FL.
