  1. Appreciate the excellent well-rounded review. We have the Canada/New England tentatively booked for next fall aboard the Anthem so it was quite informative to read about your experiences.

How did you find navigating around on the ship was ... family member has mobility issues so wondering if it took a while to get around to the various venues etc ...

We were on this sailing also!

To avoid the crowds in the Esplanade we always took deck 5 to get from one end of the ship to the other, it's open and goes through Bionic bar on one side and outside Wonderland on the other.

You can look down and thank yourself for not getting caught up in the "clusters" that sometimes happen on the Esplanade :D

  2. On our last cruise I took advantage of the Diamond plus benefit of not having to stand in the guest services line for any and all questions or requests and going straight to the LA, he did more for me than any Concierge has ever done.

I always tip the Concierge and was wondering if it is customary to tip the LA?

Of course it is too late now but, I'm going to leave a glowing review for him on the survey!

    Thanks!

  3. Sailed on Anthem in June and had cabin 7646 right near elevator. Best location because it's close to dining venues. After dinner we would walk down to the entertainment venues which gave us time to digest our dinner. Never heard a sound from the elevators. Good location for upper deck pool and windjammer also. Have picked a similar location on deck 9 for my next sail.

Loved the ship. Never felt crowded at all.

I'm guessing 7646 had a "smaller" balcony as I have 7246 booked and that what it states on my reservation. Do you happen to have pictures of the balcony to share please?

    Thanks!

  4. As Maria has said, there is a wall and u don't hear anything.

We had 7644 and our friends had 7246 on Anthem, and it was very convenient and very quiet.

We always try to find a cabin as close as possible to the elevators....

    I'd take the 10562 -- a very large balcony :)

I'm looking for pictures of the balcony of cabin 7246 and haven't had any luck.

Do you think your friend can share pictures please?

I understand it is smaller than most and where is the sofa bed located?

    Thank you!

  5. We loved "We will Rock You", but then we are Queen fans........it was really fun and the singing was excellent. The Gift was good, too, but some people didn't like it. There was a headliner act (3 guys singing Motown). They were good, but we saw the exact same act in October on another ship. WE never saw The Cabaret (we were scheduled, but I napped too long).

The ship solved so many problems other ships have......the bar in the shower for shaving your legs, the nightlight in the bathroom, the dimmed hallway lights that brighten when someone walks by. It was just great!!

    Barb

I was on that sailing also! It's funny the things I didn't notice until someone points it out

Please tell about the hallway lights, where did you see this and how did you even notice?

  6. I took the Royal Caribbean panoramic excursion today (that is usually a big no no for me)

Considering it was a new place for me I didn't want to go off the beaten path. The excursion was excellent in a huge beautiful bus. With 48 people total, the guide spoke perfect english and we covered a lot of the highlights for $59 a person

In the UK we have to pay up to 4 times the price for drinks compared to the USA and Caribbean. But we are on vacation, being happy to pay what it is, and not count individual beans before leaving.

Carambola asks a fair price, but if you wish to save a dollar or two, suggest a walk down to Shipwreck, where beds are free when eating/drinking. If it is not washed away by now.

An idea in US Dollars for snacks and refreshments at Carambola

    Burger $12.00

    Pizza $12/18.00

    Beer $3/4.00

    Glass of wine from $6.00

    Gin & Tonic $6.00

Good selection of quality rums from $5.00 (have El Dorado 21 & 25 )

If you require a detailed list just send an E-mail to Carambola for the drink and snacks menus.

  8. When are you sailing Anthem?

I emailed back after 9 days and was told the ship behind on requested and will do mine soon. That was 3 days ago. I'll wait another week and try again.

We are on the 27th and below is what they wrote to RCL dining from the ship, so it seems they are behind.

Subject: Re: FW: 3/27/2016 - Anthem dining requests 2nd request

    Hi Marlene,

I did not yet start to work next voyage, due to extremely busy schedule in the past few days. As soon I will start the assignment I will get back to you with more details."

So that was the 17th and I got my assignment today

  9. I was told my request was forwarded to the vessel (Anthem) When I didn't hear back after 7 days I e-mailed RCL dining again and she forwarded again marked urgent.

I received a confirmation today with my DD classic dining rotation and table number stating a table for 2 as requested :D

Now does anyone know where table #107 is? LOL

I didn't know they would send the rotation too, that helps a lot for making reservations at Coastal kitchen, Solarium bistro and specialty restaurants.

    Thanks for all your help!

  10. I think I just ran into that woman at the pool bar tonight. Berated the bartender pretty bad. Muttered about hating the ship. Was a miserable wretch. Walked away without her card so bartender just chuckled and left it on the bar. I told the bartender not to worry about her that I would put a shout out on cruise critic about how wonderful he has been to us since we have been up there almost every night for our daughter to have her nighttime swim. I was truly hoping I wouldn't see her but it seems it may have happened. I know that there are a lot of very miserable whiny complaining people on this ship to the point that my 10 year old daughter has noticed but we also met the nicest family ever so I think in the end we came out on the plus side. I don't post often on cruise critic but am thinking I will do an honest review of all areas for others when I get back home.

What is the bartenders name at the pool bar? I'll keep a look out for him on our 3/27 sailing :D

  11. No I won't be starting a new thread as it is easier just to continue on this one.

I still have the Cruise Compass daily planners from our Jan.3rd cruise and there isn't always a show in the Royal Theater every evening. Some evening there is a movie, a game like the Love & Marriage and other evenings nothing because the main entertainment is in the Two70 or the Music Hall.

On our cruise show times varied in the theater from 6:30 to 10:30pm. Production shows were mostly at 7 and 9pm, but one evening the Gift was at 7:30. Headliner/Comedians were usually at 8:30 and 10:30 but one evening a comedian was on at 7:30 and 9:30pm..

You can check the dates and time for the ship's company shows for your cruise in the cruise planner section when you log onto your booking to make your reservations.

If you haven't checked it out already Merion mom has posted the Cruise Compass daily planners from her 22 days onboard Anthem last month at

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2324095

Wow Bob that is great information!

Thanks you for the link to Merion Mom's compasses also :D

  12. We'll be boarding Anthem on Monday, March 7th and will try to answer any inquiries posted here concerning the ship and our 12 night western Caribbean itinerary. As you can see in my signature we were also on Anthem's January 3rd 12 night southern itinerary.

Feel free to post these even before that cruise starts and I will add to my hit list I have already from posts here and on other threads. These are currently as follows.

-Are OV cabins 3248 and 3250 connecting ones?

-What difference does the orange square around two connecting balconies like cabins 6274 and 6276 or the other colored square around two inside or OV connecting cabins provide?

-post shots of different drink menus if bobbie0253 doesn't beat me to doing that on the 3 night CTN this weekend.

We haven't decided on what our onboard internet time will be but will definitely have access on all sea days which are days 2, 3 and 10 to 12 with the use of both of our D+ credits. Add 6 to the sea day to get that date in March.

So there will not likely be any responses on the other days as those are our port days. ;)

Will you be starting a new thread?

I will be going on the 27th sailing and would like to know what time the shows are in the theater such as comedians and headliners and if they are every night.

    Thanks!
