  1. Mike, this has been an unbeliveable journey just as everyone else has said. I do intend to read it again as I'm sure many of us will.

I don't know if this has been asked but how in the WORLD did you keep all of those details straight ? Did you keep a journal and a log of your meals? I started a journal on our cruise on the Legend in Feb. I wrote for all of the first three days and that was IT. What I wrote on those three days was nothing like what you've written.

Thank you so much for captivating our hearts and minds over the last 30 days. I was already spending too much time on CC, your review made my addiction to CC even worse. LOL

Of all the reviews and photos I've seen on here, I have NEVER seen any fomr the plane flying over ships. Wow, that was as dramatic as the hero riding off into the sunset on his trusty horse. How PERFECT for YOU to end that way.

Some of the older readers will relate. I feel like singing, "Happy trails to you, until we meet again........................"

    We'll be waiting !

  2. Mike and Tracy, I'm the one who encouraged the Miracle Maniacs to read the is thread. I absolutely love the story and all of the pictures. My husband and I have been married for 42 years in May. Proposal ? Hmmm, not quite the down on the knew type either. LOL, that's probably why so many of us love the romance of it all.

We have only been on 2 cruises and I love seeing all of the photos you have taken. Anxiously awaiting the renewal. Beautiful family and I love that you are having your children as your witnesses.

  3. You have a great memory, yes, my husband has some problem walking distances. I will check on the golf carts you mentioned.

I did check with Carnival Special Needs, but they did not give me a direct answer about using a wheel chair just to get to the actual ports. I contacted the Port of St. Kitts and they said ust to let them know about two weeks ahead and they will make arrangements for transort from the ship to the port. I'll check with the Port at St.Maaren about the golf cartrs, thanks. I'll check again with Carnival closer to our departure.

My husband is stubborn and will not agree to renting a wheelchair or a scooter. (Imagine that, an independent, stubborn husband who doesn't think he needs assistance.) So, we'll work out these various alternatives.

Fortunately, all three of our excursions are with the CC group that we are cruising with. They are understanding of his challenges, so that makes it easier than if we were part of a larger group of total strangers.

    St. Lucia Spencer Ambrose Tour

St. Kitts Rose and Jimmy's Taxi Tour

    St. Maarten Joyce Prince Tour

Love the pictures as always !

  4. WishIWasThereNow, thanks for bumping this up ! I had lost this wonderful review somehow. I love it even though we're going to be traveling on the Miracle in January to the same ports of St. Lucia, St. Martin and St. Kitts.

Appreciate the 'walking distance,' advice. We are taking a tour with Spencer Ambrose in St. Lucia. He has has some excellent reviews, we are going with some of the people in the CC group that we are traveling with so we have that day covered.

Back in 1961 when my husband graduated from college, he joined the Peace Corps. He requested placement in St. Lucia but they sent him to India instead. He's very excited about finally going to St. Lucia after all these years.

I just selected our cabin on the Miracle. We are in 5138 which is near the front of the ship. It is very close to the front elevators so on our port days, we'll order room service for breakfast, hop on the elevator to Deck A and save a lot of his walking energy for the pier instead of using it on the ship to get from the Lido deck to the Deck A exit. I think that will help him a great deal.

Hope you are feeling better. That cough after a bout of bronchitis can linger for a long time after the antibiotics have done their thing. We will enjoy the rest of your review whenever you feel up to writing it.

  5. Hi Again, No,the Miracle 1/30/2011 will visit St. Kitts, St. Lucia and St. Martin. We're going with a CC group called Miracle Maniacs, who are doing a back to back. We are only do the first leg.

I remember how helpful your Legend review was as we were preparing for the Feb. 2010 trip. Everything worked out very well even though the Roatan situation was a challenge. Grand Cayman was fine, Belize was fine and so was Cozumel because we used the rickshaws on the pier. That was a great trip. I have linked my review of that trip in my signature.

If you have been to St. Lucia or St. Martin, I welcome any of your comments. The detail you include makes you feel like you are right there as you read it.

    Have a great week-end !

  6. Thank you SO MUCH. Your detailed analysis is perfect. I never would have thought of taking the handicapped sticker with us. We do not need a disabled cabin, but just some assistance with distances.

I will certainly follow up on your suggestions. It is so much better to know what your challenges are ahead of time. When we walked off of the ship in Roatan, my husband felt absolutely defeated and said, " I can't do this." As I said, fortunately there was a wheel chair we could borrow to get to the shopping area.

I can't thank you enough. These boards are awesome. I think cruisers must be among the nicest people in the world ! I really appreciate your help.

  7. "St. Kitts arrival backed into port, the port side of ship was facing the gangway. The orientation of ship if parallel to pier, but perpendicular to shore. It is a very long dock, and gangway is at far end of ship near front.:

I have enjoyed your review and your pictures.

When I read your quote above, I am concerned that it will be a challenge for my husband who get leg cramps when he walks. Have you been to Roatan ? How do the two piers compare ? That one would have been impossible but the Legend allowed us to borrow a wheelchair and leave it in the shopping area until we returned. I know that wheelchairs are not always available to borrow from the ship so I am gathering information so that we can be prepared.

P.S. I can't remember the easy way to include quotes in the posts so I just cut and paste.

  8. This was emailed to me in mid-June from the Tour Store; So that's why I asked if the ship offers the same options. No excursions are listed yet for St. Kitts for our date. I'll check back on there periodically.

The Full Island Tour without Brimstone Hill. This tour sells at $ 30.00 Us per person, This tour goes around the island stopping at points of interest along the way. This tour DOES NOT take you to the Brimstone Hill National Park.

The Full Island WITH Brimstone Hill. This tour sells at $40.00 US per person, This tour goes around the island stopping at points of interest along the way including a stop at The Brimstone Hill National Park.

Finally, the Panoramic Island Tour or Half Island Tour. This tour sells at $20.00 US per person and takes you on the island main road to Romney Manor and Caribelle Batik. Here you will have the opportunity to disembark and see their grounds and Botanical Gardens. From there you will return through Basseterre, to the top of Timothy Hill where you will be shown the incredible views of The South East Peninsular. After which you will return to Port Zante.

  9. Does the cruise ship ( Carnival, for us) offer several time and length options for the railroad? Due to limited mobility, we want the shorter tour that was available from the Tour Store, or does the ship offer a , " One size fits all?"

Are you saying that the Tour Store is no longer taking reservations for cruise ship passengers? We don't go until Feb. so we have lots of time to get the details straight.

  10. My husband and I have some mobility issues so this seems to be a good option for us while on St. Kitts from the Carnival Miracle in February, 2011.

What type of seats are they ? Like a bus? Bench type seats or individual seats?

Should we book in advance through Carnival or should we book directly with the St. Kitts railway ?

Tell me about the steps that you must climb to get to the upper deck. Are they narrow, steep, winding ? I question whether either of us can handle those, especially while the train is in motion.

I know some comments have been negative. Do you have any feelings of being unsafe as you ride the rails ?

I appreciate your help in determining if this will work for us.

  11. My husband and I are also plus size. At women's 3x, I was happily able to use the robe Carnival provided, but at Men's Big and Tall 4x , my husband didn't even try. Other than that, everything everyone else said is true. NO problems.

  12. We were on the ship with you. We had a ball. Loved Carnival and loved the Legend. Oh, my , between the Chocolate Melting Cake and the Mocha Getaway drink, mmmmmmmmm, don't forget the bitter and blanche ?? dessert.

Love your pictures and your review. It helps. We returned home last night after a post cruise visit with our son in FL. Ready to go back !
