  1. Thanks. I have Parkinson's Disease and it is not clear on a day to day basis whether I will be able to share in a class or group exercise experience. I have a yoga routine that I am comfortable with and if it is not a good day I would prefer to do my own routine alone. I have never had a problem with the sanitation of any public exercise facility, though I would not discount such an experience so thanks for sharing. I will go ask at the gym, but if the answer is no and I have not brought one of my own then I would be out of luck. That is why I was hoping someone here might have a similar past experience.

  2. Does anyone with Insignia gym experience have any idea if it might be possible to borrow a yoga mat from the gym on occasion? Thanks, Debbie

  3. And they still charge 0.25 per copy!!!!

I have not yet sailed with Oceania, so I am asking in all seriousness - Is this true? If yes, how exactly is this done? Is it billed at the end of the cruise? We will have a complimentary Internet account onboard for our cruise and sitting at home it hadn't occurred to me that if I needed to print something out there in the world that it would be an extra charge.

  4. Hi there, was wondering if there was any public transportation from San Pedro to Long Beach? There doesn't appear to be much in San Pedro, shopping, beaches restaurants are in Long Beach. Thought about renting a car for the day, but Enterprise in SP is not opened on Sunday, and not sure what time we will be in on Saturday, but I am sure the office is closed. I can't seem to find any other car rentals in SP. It seems a taxi is about $25-$30 to go from SP - Long Beach. It still might be cheaper to rent from Enterprise in Long Beach and drop the car off at SP, but they charge a $40 drop off fee. So just trying to find all my options. Thanks in advance for any advice.

You could take the bus as described above.

But I think a cab would be the best value regarding time/money.

Right, but I was only replying to rocker directly above!

  5. Thanks for the advice. Still wondering if any one who has been and toured Hobbiton from the Tauranga pier has a recommendation? There are many providers here and a range of prices and options, so it is hard to pick one and know I made the right choice. Anyone have a recommendation to make?

  6. Find out where your ship is docking first? Both cruise piers are far from LA proper, in either Long Beach or San Pedro. If in Long Beach, it is your lucky day. There is lots to do within walking distance. There is the Queen Mary to tour or a submarine. You can also walk to a red Passport bus stop. That is a free Long Beach circulator bus and you can take it to the Aquarium of the Pacific or on into Long Beach for shopping or restaurants.

If you're docked in San Pedro, same things to do in Long Beach, you'll just have to pay a bus fare to get there first. Oh, and you'll walk by all the stuff listed above to get to the closest bus stop in front of the maritime museum. It is almost certainly less than a mile long walk, but pleasant with lots to see along the walkway.

  7. Has anyone been to Hobbiton from Tauranga? We will be there on a Sunday from 10am to 8pm. Will this make any difference? Did you book in advance? With whom? Is it possible to join a tour from the pier or I-Site without pre-booking? Lots of questions... Any information from past cruisers who visited Hobbit from Tauranga will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  8. I don't know. I just checked my 2015 World Cruise invoice and it specifies Free Unlimited Internet for 2 passengers. If there is some fine print saying, no we meant one access at a time per cabin, that is not spelled out anywhere for me. I would have expected that we would each be able to use our own distinct logon and in different parts of the ship and possibly even at the same time.

  9. I have been to Cartagena and loved it. But, next time a cruise I'm on stops in Colombia, it will be at Santa Marta from 9am to 5pm. Anyone have any suggestions for me? We aren't beach people, btw.

    Thanks, Debbie

  10. I'm sure it has been discussed somewhere here before, but I've been searching and haven't yet found it. So, I'll ask. Most cruise lines have 3 or so entrees that are always on the dinner menu. We'll be on Insignia next year and I just don't want to assume that O will have this standard menu feature as well. Do the small R ships of O have some always available items on the main dinner menus?

    Thanks, Debbie

  11. Welcome aboard Beaudeau. There is a roll call thread for this cruise too.

Also note if you don't need or want to take the flights, that Oceania will give a $1000 pp air credit as a discount off the cruise price.

  12. We used the Amazon Explorers, whose office was in the Cruise Passengers Terminal building. We booked with the one day for the next day. You may be able to get in touch with them in advance though to make your plans with the luggage. Good luck.

  13. We arrive in Ushuaia at 6 p.m. and depart at 2 p.m. the following day. How many hours should we allow for a trip to Tierra del Fuego? We will no doubt need to be back on the ship by 1:15-ish, and I'm not looking to begin my sightseeing at 5 a.m.! Wondering what time I would need to book a tour in the morning in order to do justice to Tierra del Fuego. Is it doable?

    Thanks,

    Shelley

The first trip we spent less than 4 hours in the park and the 2nd trip we spent less than 2 hours. If you aren't planning to ride the train, or take a long hike you don't need more than half a day. There are some interesting and beautiful views, some animals you might get lucky enough to see and a museum. There is a sign at the end of the Pan-American Highway for photo ops and a Post Office at the end of the world that for a small fee will stamp your passport, or you can mail some postcards from there. Below are some links to my blog entries of our Ushuaia visits with photos to give you some idea.
