  1. The fine print at the bottom also states:

"... Packages are sold on a per cruise basis, are not sold on a per day or any other basis, ..."

Does this mean that if you purchase on board, but don't purchase on the first day, you still have to pay for every day?

In other words, if you are on a 7 day cruise, and wanted to wait until after day 3, because the first couple of days were port intensive, thinking you would only have to pay for 4 days. But if if is sold on a "per cruise basis" you would have to pay for 7 days?

O,r is this just how they word it to mean that once you decide to purchase a package, you have to pay for all for the remaining days?

  2. This is what Photobucket's FAQ says about the message that is showing up instead of your pictures. You're just too popular!! :):)

What does it mean, and how do I get my photos back?

Don't panic, and don't delete anything! Please, let us explain.

Bandwidth is the total amount of data transferred from your Photobucket account to the sites you post photos and videos on. It's kind of like the data plan on your phone. If you have a free account, you can use up to 10GB of bandwidth per month.

Imagine you have a photo that is 1MB in size, and you post it on your blog. Whenever a friend sees your blog, 1MB of data is transferred from your Photobucket account. That counts toward your 10GB per month limit (10GB = 10,000MB, and most photos are much smaller than 1MB).

Now, imagine your blog has a lot of photos on it, and their total size is 5MB. That would mean that 2,000 blog views would max out the bandwidth on your free Photobucket account. If you're linking multiple photos in multiple places, or you post photos on a popular site, your bandwidth can add up pretty fast!

There are two ways to get your linked photos and videos to show up again:

    1) Wait until your cycle date. Your bandwidth limit resets every month on the date you created your account. Check your page to find out when your cycle date is and how much bandwidth you've used since your last cycle date.

    2) Upgrade to Go Plus. Plus accounts have unmetered bandwidth, no ads, and full-size photo storage. You'll love it!

  3. I have a CostCo American Express credit card that give 2% back on travel. The only downside is you only get the rebate back once a year, and you have to still be a member to receive the rebate. I'm sure there are other cards that offer similar 2% rebates on travel.

So using the card for OBC wasn't that special. What made the Royal Points attractive was the 75,000 companion (up to $1,500 oceanview) and 125,000 free 7 day cruise (up to $2,500 oceanview). In order to maximize the benefit, the Oasis class ships were usually the higher priced oceanview cabins. We also like to upgrade to a balcony, and using the C&A discount helped minimize the upgrade. We were able to get almost free cruises on both the Oasis and the Allure this way.

If they take these two rewards away, I won't continue to use the card.

  4. Based on the Blog, I put this together. It is in no way official, just based on Adam's responses to the blog.

Hello Mika, we’re glad you enjoy the Coke Freestyle machines. We do not have plans to have them onboard Jewel of the Seas in 2014.

    Adam 30th October, 2012 at 3:14 pm

Hello George, currently the Coca-Cola ® Freestyle machines have only been introduced onboard; Majesty of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas. Allure of the Seas is then scheduled to receive it in November followed by Enchantment of the Seas in December. Please note that due to possible unforeseen delays, these dates may shift. Thank you.

    Adam 5th April, 2013 at 3:11 pm

We look forward to having you onboard this October, Peter. However, at this time we have no plans to feature our Coca-Cola® Freestyle machines onboard Brilliance of the Seas.

  6. Loving your pictures here. We are taking the similar trip next year. I had been lurking on your roll call, and saw your earlier posts.

A couple of questions about Sydney. IT looked like you were doing just what I am planning. Besides the ferries, how did you get around Sydney?

    Did you just walk?

For example, the Opera, how far was it from your hotel?

    Where did you stay?

Any suggestions on getting from the airport to the hotel, and hotel to the cruise?

    Thanks,

    Waiting for more

  7. We wanted to book a boardwalk balcony, but really wanted a bed by the balcony. Everyone has their own opinion, but we have tried both, and prefer the extra room by the closet/bath.

We asked our TA about the room configuration. She understood what we were asking, but didn't know how to find out. So she tried calling Royal.

At first Royal couldn't help, so I started looking @ CC. I knew it would be here. Eventually Royal did get back, but I had already found the information here.

I put this together using this thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1516781&referrerid=254101

You should use that thread if you have any further questions, as the CCers there are very helpful.

There it was requested that I post this in its own thread.

    BoardwalkConfig.jpg

Using the rules stated in post 20 below. I put this picture together. The adjoining cabins are in gray.

(On Floors 8, 9 and 14 rooms 323 and 325 are also adjoining, but not on floors 10, 11, & 12, so I didn't highlight, but they would still follow the guidelines.)

Doing this small area using the below rules was easy. It gets more difficult when suites and corners are involved.

Here is the short guide to rooms on the Oasis and Allure. BOTH ships have the same configurations. There may be a few exceptions to the following generality, but you will find this to be your best guideline…..

All non-suite cabins were built as a pair of cabins. There is a common wall between the 2 cabins that zigzags between them, and that dictates the bedding arrangement for each of the 2 rooms. The cabin configurations alternate; every other one is the same. Likewise, every adjacent cabin is different.

On the left-side cabin, the bed is adjacent to the bathroom. This is a cramped arrangement and should be avoided. There is inadequate access to the closet, and you must lift your luggage over the bed to enter the stateroom. The cabin looks and feels crowded. Two people will have trouble getting dressed if they both need access to the closet and bath.

On the right-side cabin, the bed is adjacent to the balcony. This is the preferred arrangement for most people. While not spacious, the cabin looks and feels comfortable.

You can tell which cabin is which by merely looking at the floor plan of the ship. Wherever you see adjoining cabins (shown by the arrows connecting 2 rooms), this is always ONE of the pair-of-cabins. When viewed from the hallway, there will be 2 entrance doors next to each other. One door is LEFT and one door is RIGHT.

Always remember: RIGHT is RIGHT. Select the door to the cabin on the RIGHT. It does not matter if they are inside cabins, ocean-view cabins, ocean-view balconies, Central Park balconies, Boardwalk balconies: RIGHT is RIGHT, when viewed from the hallway.

Once you find a adjoining cabin pair, merely count by two’s up or down the floor plan. This will show you each and every pair-of-cabins. Again, when viewed from the hallway, if you want a bed by the bath, select the left door. If you want the bed by the balcony, select the right door.

  8. I couldn't have put it together without Ocean Boy or Sonar's guidance above.

We decided to book a boardwalk balcony, but really wanted a bed by the balcony. Our TA didn't know, tried calling Royal. At first they couldn't help, so I started looking @ CC. I knew it would be here. I put this together using this thread and just finished when our TA forwarded an email from Royal with an actual picture of an open room with the bed by balcony.

Just to be sure, I checked it against the diagram I put together. We agreed, so I booked it.

Thought since I had it, I would post for others.

I listed all the boardwalk balcony rooms at the bottom so someone would find it with a search.

Doing this small area was easy. It gets more difficult when suites are involved. From reading through this thread I'm sure many are thankful for Ocean Boy's quick responses.

  9. I hope this is right. I put this together after readiing all of the above.

(On Floors 8, 9 and 14 rooms 23 and 25 are also adjoining, (Floors 10, 11, & 12 are not adjoining), so I didn't highlight, but they would still follow the above guidelines.)

  10. How is Neighborhood Balcony Stateroom Guarantee different than Central Park View w/Balcony Guarantee or Stateroom with Balcony Guarantee?

I was looking at an upcoming Allure Cruise and

a Central Park View Stateroom with Balcony (C1) is listed as $999.

    A Boardwalk View Stateroom with Balcony (B1) is $1,019, a (B2) is $1,049.

A Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony (D2-D8) is $1,079-$1,349.

They are also listing three different Balcony guarantees:

Central Park View w/Balcony Guarantee (C2) for $1,169

Neighborhood Balcony Stateroom Guarantee (No Code) for $1,049

and a Stateroom with Balcony Guarantee (X) as $1,129

Does anyone know if this means the Neighborhood Balcony Stateroom Guarantee would only be for the Central Park or Boardwalk, and not for any Outside, Oceanview Balcony?

If so, why would anyone pay more for a guarantee than any of the actual rooms in the category?

Also, would the Stateroom with Balcony Guarantee only be for Oceanview, or could it also include Central Park or Boardwalk? If so, why are there three different Balcony Guarantees?

  11. I would like to thank the OP for their post.

After reading through the posts, I thought it would be helpful to post screen prints of the choices available on your profile.

I did that above on post #74 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=34251844&postcount=74

I didn't realize that apparently since I just past a milestone (175 cruise points), all my profile preferences, (and my DW's) had been blanked out, and I had to reselect all of them. I didn't know about the bonus gift, and wouldn't have been able to choose one for our upcoming cruise. I also had to reselect my upgrade preferences, as they had also been blanked out, so the upgrade fairy can visit. So thanks again to the OP, as I wouldn’t have thought to look here if not for their post.

Since I can select my beverage, then it should be easy enough to allow for me to choose if I would like to receive, or not receive, the gift basket.

Below is a better copy of the four preferences (Cruising, Onboard, Gift & Upgrade) I needed to reselect/update after reaching a milestone.

    RCCL_Profile.jpg

  12. If you are a Crown And Anchor member, you need to update your profile (see thumbnail, photo site off line), and state what you would like to receive for your welcome gift. However, there is no choice to not receive the gift basket, although it is shown on the page.

We recently made Diamond Plus, so I have attached a screen print of our selections.

    GiftPrefD.jpg

Because we just made the milestone, we also get to select a bonus gift for next cruise. See Below:
