  1. I live in Vancouver.  There is NO WAY you would make a 9:30 AM flight.  I suggest Quick Shuttle https://quickcoach.com/ from the pier in Vancouver to SEA/TAC.  The flights to Seattle are usually on small aircraft and the time you will spend at the airport, you would be quicker to take the shuttle, either with Princess of Quick Shuttle.  Pier to airport.

I should have done my research before putting in a bid.  I bid the minimum on a suite and grand suite.  It would be a bummer to miss out on some of the Suite Perks if they were to accept after the ship had sailed.

If you get upgraded after sailing, do you not get the suite perks (e.g. Coastal Kitchen)?

In my experience, it varies all over the place, but we have always been able to use email, surf the web, and download books. Last cruise (Alaska), my wife was streaming the news throughout the cruise with very little problem. Sitting in port in Whittier, the download speed tested at over 5 Mbps but sometimes at sea it was down to a few hundred kbps. In no case was it anything like home broadband.

That's much better than Princess.  Last time we tested it was 0.7!   It never got any faster and I couldn't handle a long cruise when it never gets over 1!

  4. We are on Discovery Princess.  The internet speed is horrible.  I cannot open PDF's, Outlook stopped sending but still receives and forget trying to watch anything that's video.  I just sat beside a guy at breakfast who said "they don't have a library, I can't buy a book and I can't get any book to download, I'll never sail Princess again".  He's Elite!   I tried to do a speed test, but I can't access the network to do it.

  5. Is the speed and availability of the internet on Noordam acceptable?   I am on Discovery Princess and the internet is horrible.  I can't send anything on Outlook, PDF's won't open and forget any video.  I just had breakfast and sat beside a man who said "there is no library, I can't buy a book and I can't download a book".  He was beyond frustrated and is asking for his internet money back.  We are planning on a Vancouver to Sydney cruise for 29 days and won't be going Princess.  Is Holland America any better?

  6. I didn't do the cruise on the Emerald but did it before COVID.   We booked the transfer from the ship to Windsor Castle and then on to Heathrow.  Two people we were with booked Stonehedge and then Heathrow on the ship.  If you have a late flight, it's well worth it.  Better than sitting at Heathrow for hours!

  7. We are on this cruise.  I am impressed with the crew, they are all happy to be back and doing a great job.  The only complaint I have is the internet.  The speed is pathetic and it's very frustrating.  I can't even open a pdf on an email.  I cannot send any pictures on gmail but what works great is What's App.  So if you are going on this ship, make sure you've got it because everything else is slow!  Princess needs to fix this.  I paid for internet that I can't get.  Not happy at all!  So much for checking work emails or answering them!!!!!  A few go through, others just sit in my outbox.  VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!

You need to take a cab to the ferry terminal.  You can go the Victoria and then Vancouver all on the ferry system

Seattle to Vancouver  - no ferry required!   Take I-5 to the border!  If you get off in Seattle Quick Shuttle will take you direct to Canada Place.   It's approximately 3 hours drive, hopefully the border isn't busy.

If you fly to Vancouver, Skytrain is in the airport and the end stop is at Canada Place!  No need to take a cab, Skytrain is much cheaper and faster.

  9. We asked the guy at the elevator which restaurant was open for embarkation lunch.  He said the Buffet only and directed us to the Buffet.  We did a tour of all four dining rooms and one was open with only two other people in it.  Don't always believe what they tell you!

Unlike its sister company Princess cruises, the silence from Cunard with regards to plans beyond March 15th is deafening.

Princess have put up on their website a list of cancellations and modifications from now until May 10th.

The lack of communication from Cunard should be a concern for all of those booked on her ships.

Cunard passengers should be loudly voicing their displeasure at such treatment, through social media or whatever platform is available, for the rest of the cruising world to see  how (IMO) inept the back-office component of this business appears to be.

    Thoughts anybody?

I agree.  Canada has closed all ports until July 1st and that date could be extended.  Cunard is still selling Alaska cruises online in June that depart from Vancouver, visit Victoria and Prince Rupert.  That decision was made a few days ago.   Where are you Cunard???

Sorry about your luck.  However, Canadians were not "TOLD" not to cruise.  It has been suggested.....

It was recommended by our Federal Government.  This is from the website:

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is recommending that Canadians avoid all cruise ship travel due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

Cruise passengers include travellers from around the world who may be arriving from areas with known or unknown spread of COVID-19. The virus can spread quickly on board cruises due to the close contact between passengers. Older people and people with a weakened immune system or underlying medical condition are at a higher risk of developing severe disease.

Recent cruise ship outbreaks of COVID-19 indicate that a large number of individuals onboard can become infected. While the majority of affected passengers may experience mild symptoms, there have been a significant number of cases requiring hospitalization and critical care, and some deaths have been reported.

  12. I've been following David Abel on Diamond Princess and his latest post was excellent.  His positive attitude is commendable.  He talked about a heated toilet seat in his mini suite on Diamond Princess.   Does anyone know if these heated seats are on any other Princess ship?   I'm booked on Majestic and Regal in balconies, but if the mini suites have these toilet seats, I'm thinking of upgrading.

    Thanks in advance.

  13. We were in a two bedroom Aqua Theatre Suite on the Harmony, Deck 9.  We loved watching the shows and the noise didn't bother us at all.  We never heard any noise from the Rock Climbing Wall.  I would book another one in a heartbeat if I win the lottery!  It was for our 50th wedding anniversary and it was WONDERFUL!

We have sailed the CB many times.

    Love her!

    Nothing has changed........

Get to the theater early! Never had a problem getting a choice seat.

I was on the Aug 9/19 Canada New England cruise.  If you didn't get to the early show at least 30 minutes before and the late show 25 minutes before you would not get a seat.  The cruise director told everyone on the first night to get there 30 minutes before.   The singers and dancers shows were standing room only...  The other shows, people just left.
