  1. The Brooklyn marriot is a good hotel. Located at the foot of the Brooklyn bridge which is a good location. I would ask the hotel your staying at to google directions/maps to the dock. I would think most drivers know the cruise terminal but I would rather be safe then sorry.

  2. My husband on I always book b2b. Depending on pricing our TA sometimes books separate. We still have been lucky to get same cabin. We like the extra wifi & getting the extra cruise credit. You have to leave the ship in nyc anyway so it shouldn't be a big deal. Just saw qm2 on the news, sad we have to skip this years cruise. Enjoy !m

  3. So scary & sad. I was about to read story to hubby but thought better of it. He hates tendering so I don't want to give him any nightmares. I get upset when they've cancelled ports. This reminds us safety first.

  4. Thank you for the advice so far. Unfortunately I'm a teacher so my only holidays are school holidays. We tend to book a month long cruise/vacation holidays for most summers. We usually leave out of Southampton on a cruise & do a pre/post vacation from there. We have family in England & my husband prefers the British atmosphere to the American ships here. Cunard is very international & it's not always a good thing. I will watch for more info and decide. Britannia does look like a beautiful ship. I like the different itinerary so we'll see. Thanks again

  5. Hi. Just watched the beautiful Britannia on the news. My husband & I are seriously thinking about trying this new ship. We have been loyal to cunard for many years & love the queens. We are Americans but enjoy the British feel of the queens. Wondering how they would compare to p & O ?? I know it's a new ship . Any info would be appreciated.

    Thank you

  6. Be prepared for some craziness. You will have people doing the crossings and some just doing the 2 days. We did this trip last year. It ended up being ok just not our favorite. We will think twice before doing that type of trip.

  7. We booked a qty for the 1st time last summer. When we received our cabin I freaked on my husband. (His decision to book it ~ we did save ). But we were 2 doors from the laundry. We had observed problems on the 11th floor in the past. For 2 months I was upset. It was a 22 day sailing so I thought it would be a nightmare. We always book mid 11th floor. This was deck 8 next to the laundry. 😪

It ended up being a blessing. I loved the room & location. There was never noise or any problems. It was also very convenient. Some nights the room was not locked until later in the night but it was never a problem. Enjoy your trip.

  8. My husband & I work very long hours during the year. We look forward to our Cunard cruise(s). We always request a table for 2. We love the entertainment & enrichment activities. We enjoy meeting new people but do spend a lot of our time alone. The good thing about cunard is there is so much to do & the ship is so big that you can join in when you want. Have fun!

  9. Hi I joined weight watchers a month before our cunard cruise. We were on board for 23 days. I ordered fruit/yogurt and tea for breakfast. Had some kind of salad for lunch and mostly ate fish for dinner. The portions are small so it wasn't bad. We stayed out of the buffet. My husband &. I are the only ones who go on cruise and loose weight. We walked a lot & went to the gym a few times a week. It's do able :)

  10. My husband & I were on your trip also. We did ny to ny and were looking forward to it for almost a year. We were a little concerned with the hamburg stops before we left but couldn't of dreamed how upsetting it turned out. We were concerned about the smoking - we have had problems with this in the past not even being able to use our balcony. we heard qm2 was for the most part smoke free at least in staterooms so thought it would be better.

Well obviously everyone didn't get the no smoking message that I thought we all had to sign off on?? Not only were my neighbors smoking in their cabin some tried smoking in the theatre. I wouldn't of believed it if I didn't see it. We were sitting waiting for the show to start & I told my husband I smell smoke. I had been going crazy with the smoke for more than a week & my husband was getting a little annoyed with me. I seemed to be smelling smoke everywhere I went. So when I mentioned it in the theatre he was like smoking is never allowed in the theatre. I think he thought I was loosing it until I turned around a saw 2 men smoking as happy as could be about 4 rows back. I forgot I was a lady and got my "Brooklyn on" as my husband tells me when I get upset with people. I turned around as said are you kidding me there is no smoking allowed in here. Put that out. They looked at me and just stared at me. A nice lady by me said miss I don't think they understand you. I snapped at her don't be ridiculous they all speak English. I did apologize later to her but I was done. Someone had gone to get help & when they saw a waitress walk toward us they threw their cigarette into their drink.

I didn't let things ruin our trip but I did have some things that annoyed me. I don't begrudge people getting a better deal than me. What upsets me is peoples attitude and behavior that affect my holiday. One night the comedian on board talked about in the US we wait on lines, UK you Queue & that Germans don't seem to have a word for it. I believe that says it all !

We will definitely be mindful with our future trips.

QM2 is still our favorite ship. We met some wonderful people & loved Hamberg !

We already booked our holiday for next summer. Let the countdown begin ;)

  11. BB was forward deck 11. They are saying we're "upgraded " to BA because it is midship. They don't consider it obstructed but I do. The cabin right next door has a lifeboat. They told me you look straight out it's not obstructed. The lifeboat is still right on top of us. Plus it's directly across from the laundry. Now how they can say this is an upgrade is beyond me ?? Lesson learned :(

  12. Trying to think positive. But shocked going from a deck 11 front cabin to a deck 8 across from laundry with a lifeboat next door. They say it's an upgrade cause deck 8'is considered a better location cause it's the middle of the ship. I'd rather a deck 11 front of ship to a deck 8 laundry/lifeboat neighbor but unfortunately we don't have a choice :(

  13. Hi Stavanger is a beautiful town. Well worth a walk off the ship. We were there a couple of years ago & docked right in town. We took a boat ride to see the waterfalls. It's was well worth the money. Then we strolled through the town Square. Hubby isn't a good walker but everything is close so if you take it slow it's fine. Hope your trip, works for you. Counting the days.

    See you in board

  14. I am sure there will be passengers your age on your cruise. We tend to do summer trips and there are always some children of different age ranges. They always look like they are having a fun time so I'm sure you will enjoy yourself. When I am organizing outfits for a trip I tend to stick with black base & 1 or 2 colors where you can mix and match. This way i can bring just a couple of black shoes to go with the outfits. I tend to bring different jewelry / accessories to change the outfit up. Mix & match along with comfort are always my go to. My husband takes his tux along with a blue suit. We bring different colored shirts & ties to coordinate his looks. With airline restrictions it's impossible to bring the amount of outfits I would like. Also, the ship has a laundry room & pretty good dry cleaning prices. Have a great time !

  15. A couple of years ago on cunard we ran into someone from our building. We were on a TA in the middle of the ocean. My husband said this woman has been staring at me. He saw her a couple of days in a row. I said no one is staring. People are friendly. The next day she came over and introduced herself. She recognized my husband from the laundry room. Small world in the middle of the ocean.

  16. Hi looking for advice on our day in Cozumel. Would like to go to a nice hotel and spend the day by the pool and beach. Not a big drinker so drink package not necessary. Any recommendations for resort day pass in Cozumel? Is it best to book on own or wait to get on ship?

    Thanks
