  1. :D We have Cabin 9284 for a B2B next Jan. 10 to the 24, '10 to the Caribbean. Actually, lucked out and have the same cabin for both cruises.

Fell in love with the "hump" location when we did the RCCL Mariner of the

Seas this past Jan to South America and Cape Horn. Really don't mind

the mirrored surface on the balcony glass --- in case DH decides to sit

out there in his "tidy whities" --- :o HeHe.

  2. Other odd nos. of the cabins of the Solstice such as

6227 which will be our cabin. I notice this part of the ship juts out so I am wondering.

:) As far as I can determine --- your balcony glass should be completely clear. Great cabin location by the way --- as you are on Deck 6 --- you may see the lifeboats as you look "down" but out to the horizon will be fine.

  3. :) The photos of the balcony on the Hump are very helpful --- thank you, so much --- seems the coating has a mirror-effect back to the cabin. No

real issue at all. However, I am happy that our balcony glass is just "partially covered". To the post just before me --- I think the "X" design is

on both sides of the Solstice. ;)

  4. We have cabin 8257 on the hump, what is the balcony like??? Our friends have 8255.

:) Your cabins are at the angled part of the deck - Just before the "hump

cabins" start. Your balconies will have angles to them - they MAY be a bit

larger than the standard size.

  5. Just be aware of the white "X" on Solstice hump balconies which may partially block views thru the glass.

:confused: Can you be more specific as to what exactly the blockage is ??? Is it a

"frosted" type of glass or a solid wall of white paint ?? We have one of these cabins for a B2B in January,2010 so I would like to know what to expect.

    Thanks. :)

  6. I posted this on a new thread but wanted to put it here as well. This is a list of hump cabins that are affected by the "X" on the glass and therefore might be undesireable by some. I looked at the below listed photo(photo by Aquahound:)) and used the deck plans to determine cabin numbers. I will try to remember to post this spreadsheet with the cabin list each time. I only did the port side so if you are looking for starboard, just look for the cabin opposite yours for the information. The suites are just approximate as I couldn't see them all in the photo.

DISCLAIMER: I think these are mostly correct but no guarantees given as to the accuracy. If you see a mistake please post the information and I will correct it.

:confused: Hi Donna: Could you be more specific on the type of obstruction --- it looks

like "frosted glass" to me. :( We have this for a B2B next Jan.'10.

  7. Hi Caryla: Wasn't the game fantastic !!! Gosh, I hate to put a damper on the last 3 WINS - but I hope this doesn't go to their heads - sure would be great

to have a winning season for a change. !!!!!!! keep our fingers and toes crossed and with hard work and some luck - will be in

the Super Bowl while I'm on a fantastic cruise to South America !!!!

For the others who posted - of course, the loss of one's spouse or significant other is devastating - however, for some - travel would be a much-needed

    respite and reflection period.

  8. If a couple booked a cruise (double occupancy) and one of the spouses dies prior to the cruise - can the surviving person still take the cruise and occupy the cabin they originally booked?? I suppose the cruise line needs to be notified - would they adjust the prices the couple

paid orginally or demand that the surviving spouse move to another cabin

and be charged a single suplement?? ( In essence, that would be less money than the couple paid for a double occupancy). I know, I am weird !! but we have major health issues in this family and I have never

    seen that question addressed. :o

  9. Just proves a very old point - "what is trash to some is treasure to others!" And thanks for the reminder to dig out my bracelet, too. I disagree about the prices at the jewelry stores in the islands in general.

If you do your homework and learn how to buy a quality diamond and how to use a jewelers' lope - you can find some beautiful "bling". I

know what I want to look for in the islands, do my research, and most times - you can find really nice items. Not necessarily "cheaper" than home but the SELECTION is amazing. Unless you live in NYC or Vegas -

won't find that much "bling" in one placewhere I live. I use my cc for my purchases and always get a receipt with the "retail value" of the jewelry. I take it

home and if my local jeweler tells me diffeent - a phone call to my cc company is all that's needed for the return. Never been disapopinted

but then again - I don't spend thousands of $$$$$$$ either. Happy shopping. ;)

  10. Any idea on what airlines RCCL may use to get us from Valpariso, Chile to Orlando?? Is this an overnite flight?? We don't get our return flight info until

30 or 60 days prior to departure (that means either Nov. or Dec.).

  11. Anyone familiar with the Mariner of the Seas - Cabin 7328 - the last cabin at

the hump/starboard side. Looks like the balcony is at any angle - will it be big

enough for two chairs?? Will our view be partially obstructed by the other "hump" cabins as they curve out more from the ship??

  12. I have read that you can request "cash" at the purser's office from your OBC line to use in the casino. Whether you spend it there or not is your business - but just another way to "get yur money back" in case you don't eat it up with tips, shore excursions, drinks, souveniors, etc. Correct me if

I am wrong. By the way, on cruises of 14 days or longer - RCCL gives shareholders $ 250 OBC per cruise/per booking. There is no limit on the number of times you

    can use this benefit.
