Excursions are not 'on board' and as you can book those in advance of getting on the ship it does seem perfectly reasonable to me to assume that you could book speciality dining (that will take place ON BOARD) in advance of physically being on board. I don't understand why folk think it's obvious that you can use OBC to book excursions before boarding, but not dining. But that's me and my logic.

I agree!  I wonder why they can't make dining reservations similar to shore excursions and allow you to use your OBC.

  2. I have used Stefano's RomeCabs 2 or 3 times from Rome to port and also from port to airport.  They are always on time.  Their vehicles are always clean and in wonderful shape. Te drivers are always friendly and very helpful. I thoroughly recommend them.

  3. We just had "another" wonderful tour with Spain Day Tours.  We have toured with them in the past.  They took us for a half day tour around Lisbon, Portugal.  We had two of the six people we were traveling with that had handicap issues and they took great care of them.  It was a rainy day, but they made the most of it.   The people that were traveling with my husband and I are still talking about how much they enjoyed it.

When itineraries are offered as individual bookings and a combined b2b booking Princess allocates certain cabins for each leg and legs of the cruise. The cabins that you refer to are being held for the individual 12 day and 14 day cruises. If you want one of these cabins for both legs you will have to book as two separate cruises AND try to have your bookings marked as no upgrade.

My past experience from booking many b2bs is that booking as separate cruises offers more flexibility and sometimes more OBC. Once on board your medallion will be valid for the entire 26 days, the account balances will carry over and you will have one final invoice on your disembarkation day.

Thanks for the idea, but also tried to book them separately and it will only let you get so far, then will not let you complete the booking.  I have a cabin booked on Dolphin deck (in case all else fails).

  5. Anyone have any idea why I cannot book one of the mini suites on deck 8 of the Caribbean Princess for a cruise in September 2024?  My TA has gotten a number of excuses from Princess.  They first told us they were being help for people with 3-4 passengers.  That did not make sense since I tried to book it showing I had 4 people and it did not allow that to happen.  We have gotten a bunch of excuses, but I think that may be just wha they are "excuses!"  I love those minis in the back as they are the only minis with  a roof over the top.  Since the cruise is 18 months away, I am pretty sure they are not taken already.

This is a 26 day cruise mad up of a 14-day and a 12-day cruise.  I tried to book them as two separate cruises and it looks like those cabins are available, but it won't let you continue.

    Any thoughts?

Any other hotel criteria besides "walking distance to the seals"? Budget? Nice restaurants walkable?

I'd prefer the Columbus Motor Inn over any of the Fisherman's Wharf hotels, mostly because of its location adjacent to North Beach (SF's Little Italy) and the great dining options.

If I did choose Fisherman's Wharf it would be the Argonaut.

I honestly am not trying to see the seals, but could not think of what to call the area.  I guess FIsherman's Wharf is the best name of the area.  I am not looking for a budget hotel.  I would like something nice and in a safe area to walk around during the day.

  7. We are on a cruise leaving out of San Francisco and are looking for a nice hotel close to the piers.  I would like to be within walking distance of the pier where the seals are located and other attractions.  However, I want to make sue the hotel is in a safe area to be able to walk around during the day.

  8. On a cruise out of San Francisco.  Any recommendations for hotels close to the Piers but in a good neighborhood.  I would like to be able to walk around the pier where the seals are located and other attractions, but want to make sure the neighborhood is safe, at least during the day.

Just to let you know that I have been posting from Sky Princess for the past couple of days, with varied success. Sometimes it would download photos, sometimes they would disappear into the ether. I’ve had to download the last couple of posts several times as they appeared to be working but at the last minute they would disappear. To be honest I am amazed that the photos got posted at all, and it just shows how the internet on ships continues to improve.

So gad you made it home safe and sound.  So sorry about you feeling so bad on the plane.  I would love to read more of your reviews.  I thoroughly enjoyed each one I have read.

if you prefer to dine different times and places you can just turn up at your chosen restaurant and you just wait for a free table there were lots of people who hadnt booked their table in advance and you just line up and wait for your turn for a table

Thanks, that is good to know.

  11. Not sure if you will see this or not but just wanted to tell you I have read your review on the Norwegian Forjds that we "hope" to go to in June/July 2022.  I enjoyed it so much I also ready Cuba and this one on the Med.  I enjoyed them all immensely.  Thank you so much.  Are there any more of your reviews available?
