  1. Once you have cruised over 50 days in one sailing, you will think nothing of sailing more days.  My first long one was 35 days and it was a test to see if I could handle the 111 day world cruise I had booked the following year.  At the 35 day mark, I did NOT want to leave the ship!  So I knew I could handle longer cruises.  On my first WC, I got to about day 90 and all of a sudden had horrible homesickness.  I cried every morning for about a week, and then I was over it.  I was only homesick for my two little granddaughters, however.  I didn't miss being away from home, just their little smiling faces.  What helped was facetiming with them.  Now I do that regularly when I'm away.

As for eating/food/drink -- you have to discipline yourself just like at home.  This last cruise of 80 days, I picked up about 5 pounds.  It disappeared pretty quickly once I got home.  I think it was the desserts that I couldn't always say no to......

The Main Deck cabin does have cabins above but also the walking promenade.  Potentially could be noisy but our experience not a problem. Other inputs?

I do not think this is correct.  The 2xxx cabins on the Main Deck are BELOW the promenade deck (walking deck).  Those cabins are 3xxx.

  3. ditto to what kwb101 said.  it's a separate card.  don't lose it, either.  they will charge you $75 (last known amount) if you don't return it the day before disembarkation.

I had a lanai last summer on the veendam and most of the time i left my slider open just a tiny crack - you couldn't tell it was open if you were walking by or even standing nearby, and then I didn't have to worry about having the special card to open it.  the doors slide, but they are heavy so you really have to pull firmly to move it.

  4. Oh you sooooo understated our “hilarious” time at music trivia tonight!!!  First off, we trounced the other teams with our perfect score and because another team falsely claimed to also have a perfect score, Erin forced us into a tie breaker, which was the theme song from Titanic, which we had to ACT OUT as well as name. And let’s not forget the special items of clothing that went “missing”!!

And now I’ll keep quiet!! 😂😂😂

  5. Kathi forgot to mention that it was well over 90 degrees F yesterday in Buenos Aires so we were all pretty wiped out from the heat too.

Patty and i skipped dinner (and trivia, sorry Kathi!) and went to a dinner and tango show. Both were EXCELLENT!! The show was first as there were some other HAL tours there too. It was one hour long and extremely well done.

Afterwards a smaller group of about 20 of us went to a private home for dinner. A local chef prepared our 4 course meal. Of course that Argentina beef was the main course!

We returned to the ship quite late - about 10:45 PM. My bed never felt so good!

  6. I took the tender ashore with Patty and Andrea about 8:00 AM.  It’s a lovely resort town with beautiful beaches and well kept streets and restaurants.

We walked sbout 30 minutes at a leisurely pace out to see La Mano, or The Hand. It’s at the beach on the Atlantic side. This sculpture in the sand signifies man emerging into life, and has become a well known symbol of Uruguay in recent years.

There were here also some awfully cute sea lions st the marina where the tenders docked.

  7. I too, am experiencing login issues by having to repeatedly log in, using my iPhone 8+.

I have other forums under my Tapatalk app and they work flawlessly. Until CC made changes to their platform/website last fall, CC worked on Tapatalk flawlessly too. Now it doesn’t.

I sure hope the issues can be resolved because the Tapatalk app is really a great tool.

  8. After a dismal showing in afternoon trivia, it was a joy to win evening trivia. There was a whale playing near the starboard side and I think those teams over there on that side were distracted. But we also were quite brilliant regardless. Ha!

Kathi and I went on separate tours in Iquique. We both visited Humberstone but while her tour went back to town and enjoyed a visit there, mine went on farther into the Atacama desert to see the Pintada

Geoglyphs. They are neither painted nor carved, but the top soil is dig out to reveal different colored soil beneath. They are giant pictures of fish, animals, humans and geometric designs on the sides of the mountain range. Really fascinating to see. But boy was it hot out there!

We got our "gift box" from HA today for our portion of the "Grand"!  Now I have a favour to ask of you, Kathi, or Sherita or Roy.  There is a list of wine packages to purchase ahead of time - my choice would be #5 - Wine Compass package #1 - 12 bottles of Cellar No, 1, and it's priced at $386 ahead of time.  However, Crew News' price list from December has an 8- and a 4-bottle package together equalling $238, really a better deal!  (And then we would get half off either way).  Could someone please check and see if my pricing is correct on board?  Thanks in advance!

The wine package on board has cellar #1 8 bottles $219, 6 bottles $169 and 4 bottles $119.

    Cellar #2 is $289, $229 and $149 respectively.

    Cellar #3 is $329, $269 and $189.

    No 12 bottle price offered.

  10. OMG. Lima is absolutely exhausting. The traffic is ridiculous.

I did a wildlife boat excursion yesterday afternoon and it took half an hour just to get out of the port and to the marina next door. But the excursion was fun. I swam with the sea lions! And then we rushed back for early dinner seating and had a 7:15 excursion into Lima to see the night fountain show which was great. But we didn’t get back until 11:30 PM because traffic, even that late was jammed, and now I’m up early for an 8:00 AM call for an all day excursion to Pachamaca.
