We are booked on a cruise next March and our smaller ship ports in Pigeon Island. We want to go to Caribelle Batik/Howelton Estate from there. Will it be easy to find someone to take us? Thanks!

Just got off the Magic on Saturday so if anyone has anything they want to ask feel free to ask. Just one recent development was that it was the Captain's last cruise on the Magic. He is taking some time off and then will be the Captain for the Panoramic. They also mentioned that this was the last cruise for SEVERAL crew members. Not more specific other then the cruise director Simon London mention that the sound tech was leaving because his wife was having a baby within the next couple days. Stayed on Deck 2 in a Cove Balcony cabin, 2254. Port side, VERY close to the forward elevators.
Hi! I was wondering if they were serving the new Brunch menu. I am hearing conflicting things.

We are on the Magic to Bermuda the end of September. We'll have 4 days at sea. Will there be a brunch every day?

The new restrictions take effect Wednesday, but the government will allow anyone who has already paid for the trip to go ahead with it.
*****, I leave on the 1st of July. Hopefully, Royal Carribean sticks with it.
I was wondering that because I know a group who headed there yesterday on the NCL Sky!

About 20 or 25 minutes.
Thank you! Do you also know when the last one leaves the beach? -
How long is the ride on the mini-bus?
-
Thank you!
-
Thank you! I'm not sure all 20 will join in, sometimes it's just one-half to two-thirds of us. Just want to cover bases before I share with them. Tobacco Bay sounds like a good place to stop for a bit. Do you know if a mini bus would be less expensive than hiring a driver?

Achilles Bay would not be on an organized tour as it is not one of the desired destinations. Some people like to go there because there is often no one else there or very few. It is not much of a beach in my opinion but to each their own. A group of 20+ going there might be disappointed. I have walked there and to Fort Catherine, the beach is down some stairs right behind the Beach House Restaurant; from the St. George’s ferry terminal, but you could also hop in taxis at the ferry terminal or from the town square. The problem would be getting taxis back from there for such a large group. The easiest beach to get to with a 20+ group would be Horseshoe Bay as there are minibus shuttles that run from the Dockyard and back all day.

Thanks for your feedback. We are a group who have been cruising together for 10 years & we saw a photo of the rock formations & wanted to see it in person. We really don't hang out at the beach that long (if there's not a tiki bar 🙂 ) We are usually able to rent a van or two in the Caribbean to get around. We are there for 2 days & want to see Horseshoe Bay but since it is so easy to get to we'd rather go to beaches that aren't that crowded with cruisers. Can you recommend any other cool beaches with formations & pink sand? We also want to visit the seaglass beach. Are there any beaches with food & drink available?

Does one exist? By vehicle or water. Our group may include 20+ people. We are overnighting there so time shouldn't be a problem. Thanks in advance!

I was just looking at a recent Daily and saw that they had AYCE Shrimp & Ribs at O'Sheeehan's one night. I'm assuming it's boiled and not fried? (I hope!) Thanks!

Thanks!

Also Blue Kay is a well reviewed spot. But you're best going there via taxi as it has it's own separate entrance and parking and the tram doesn't stop there.
Is Blue Kay close to Tropicante?
-
Does anyone know if Tropicante is close to Blue Key? Our group was planning to go there for awhile so wondering if we could stop at both places.

Can't wait to hear about your trip. SOunds like the one we want to go on next Spring/summer...is it the itinerary with Key West? Enjoy!!
Sorry! I just saw this! No, not to Key West. We leave one week from today!! The day after we sail, we are in Cuba for an overnight. We don't depart until the next day at 8pm. Sea day the next day, then our last day is at Cococay. 5-day cruise.
Now I'm curious when the Dress to Impress night will be. Our one and only Sea Day?

We have booked FerTours for our Havana tour in Mid-June. Fernando gets great reviews here on Cruise Critic. Looking forward to the Empress - good to hear the ship is in good shape!
-
None on that ship
Really?! I actually think I LIKE that! :D
-
Sorry, I was unable to find the answer through "Search." I was wondering which night will be formal night on the Empress out of Miami to Cuba (overnight.) We sail on a Monday. If we're in Cuba from 8am Tues until 8pm Wed, would it be on Thursday, our day at sea? I'm hoping it won't be the night we're in Cuba!
-
He just told me I was over the limit, but did not charge me any duty, or even seem to care.
YMMV at customs, or in another home port.
We are cruising on the Empress out of Miami & was wondering how many bottles we could bring back without paying duty. Do you know, by chance?

We used FerTours and had no problems. When you board the ship at check in you sign the paper saying you are doing organized tours and check Support for the Cuban people. No one asked any questions after that. You are responsible for keeping the form for 5 years and keeping some log of what you did (the itinerary is probably sufficient). You can't eat at government restaurants (but no one does--the food is horrible) or stay at a state owned hotel (you are staying on the ship). Mainly the US president wants to keep you from just sight seeing or going to the beach. If you are doing cultural things you should be fine. But again, no one ever asked.
Thank you! Looking forward to using them. His confirmation said the Shipwrecked in Havana tour would be $120 USD - does that mean he wants us to pay in US dollars? I was going to ask him beforehand.
-
You have been told wrong. If you read through this forum, you'll find many, many examples of people who booked no tours and just explored Havana on their own. Check "Support of the Cuban People" on your affidavit and go enjoy yourselves. No one cares - not the cruiseline and certainly not the Cuban officials.
We booked Fertours for day one, through the ship to Hemingway's home in the country for day 2. I'm sure the only ones who would care what we did are customs when we get back. Will we pay duty for any rum and cigars we bring back?
-
I just got back from a cruise to Cuba with NCL and they really try hard to convince everyone that the best way to fulfill the travel requirements is to book excursions through them, (no surprise). We privately booked a 2 hour ride in an old, beautifully maintained convertible Buick, cost was $80 total for 2 of us. We walked around town, had a beer in a Paladar (privately owned restaurant), and just soaked up the city. We had checked "support for the Cuban people" as our reason for being there and Miami customs only asked us if we had liquor or tobacco. Didn't really care why we had been in Cuba nor did they ask for any documentation or proof of what we did while there.
We will probably want to bring home rum and my husband may want a couple cigars. Do you know if they only asked because we'll have to pay duty on them?
-
Has anyone parked here? It looks close to port inside a parking garage and is half the price of parking at the port. We want to park the day before our cruise so don't need a shuttle to the port. Thanks!
-
This thread has been very informational! We will be on RCCL Empress of the Seas - June 18th cruise and I think we will book one of the Fertours excursions. Our friends' Travel Agent and RCCL directly have told us we must book through the cruiseline (we have booked day 2 - Hemingway's Havana through them) but apparently they cannot force you to stay on the ship if we do not book through them on Day One?
Can we still ferry over to St. John?

Will our proof of vax & covid test results from 4 days prior get us on the Red Hook ferry & back?
