Hi, Also on this cruise and just checking in. I think someone asked about the live music and my daughter and I are really enjoying the Sound - great selection of songs. We have also really enjoyed the food, burgers and cookies are much smaller than they used to be (so we just get extra lol). Alfredos is also fabulous. The free charms and bracelet in the Effy store are wonderful to collect. Loved the Beatles tribute, David Meyer (electric xylophone) and the Colors of the World show. Internet is absolutely horrible - going to look for some wifi when we get off the ship in Ketchikan tomorrow so I can catch up on some very important emails. Crew is excellent - very friendly and helpful. Comfy beds, great selection of movies on t.v. to go to sleep to. Also have a feeling Covid may be starting to spread, my neighbours have "disappeared" after seeing a nurse covered head to toe and swabbing them.

Looking at booking a really last minute Alaska cruise on Princess leaving from Vancouver Monday May 02. I'm in Ontario and have found the Shoppers Drug Mart test for $40 - will this one be o.k? We are flying in the day before (Sunday May 01) so will booking the appointment for the afternoon of Saturday April 30 be o.k.?

Have never purchased this on past cruises, just wondering if there are any problems or differences in coverage for Canadians? Tried to book online but the drop down menu is only U.S. states.
-
O.k. thanks, that's really short hours - good to know, might not be worth it then.

I realize that it is fairly easy and inexpensive to get to the airport in Vancouver after the cruise however because our flight is not until 10:30 p.m. that night, I was looking at the excursion where they take your luggage and you can ride the hop on off bus throughout the day. Has anyone had experience with this? Fairly pricy, so just wondered if I should figure something else out on my own or if it's worth the cost and save the hassle?

I'm going to call tomorrow. Thanks.
-
thank you, its showing as $649 p.p. in Canadian dollars on mine

Interesting, I'm basically "in the same boat" as you, lol. I also have a courtesy hold on the same sailing. How were you finally able tdo get the lower rate?
-
Definitely strange - I was able to look at prices in U.S. and they are actually significantly higher than Canadian?
-
Wondering if someone in the U.S. would mind checking the May02 to Alaska on Royal, interior lowest price room - just for comparison in U.S. dollars?
-
The U.S. price was my thought as well (since I'm also in Canada). I also did wonder about the tracking since I have been checking it quite often. Good idea to take a screen shot.

I have been watching a cruise for May and noticed a large price drop today however when I go to book it, the price drop is not reflected (it is the same prices as yesterday before the drop). Wanting to put a courtesy hold but is the only way to get the advertised discount rate to call?

May 02 - Royal Princess - Alaska (round trip Vancouver)

Looking at a last minute Alaska cruise and when I go in to look at available cabins there are A LOT (and in every category). Is there a certain point where cancelling won't be a concern - like 30 days out? Just don't want to book if it's not going to happen. I guess I'm wondering if they have a break even point? Also find it strange that there has not been a price drop in the last couple of weeks since its getting so close.

We didn't go to Berlin so I can't answer your question but we stayed behind and had a down time day and really enjoyed the little town of Warnemunde. Really cute little boardwalk type of area with shops and restaurants and we also went to the beach for a short time (although our visit was in August rather than April).

I'm currently watching an Alaska cruise for May and there appears to be a lot of rooms left. Is there a time where there may be a price drop (45 days out, etc.) I just don't want to book and there be a big drop the day after booking.

If I purchase the Princess Plus and I am Platinum, will I be credited the 50%?
-
I kind of thought that too but the Majestic is less money for 2 extra nights so was just overthinking and thought we could do things we missed the first time.
-
Just looking for opinions. I have 2 cruises currently on a courtesy hold and I'm really struggling with which one to choose? Both are within $100 of each other. I will be travelling with my 19 year old daughter and we are both Canadian.
Option one: 14 days - Majestic Princess - roundtrip Vancouver (basically a back to back): Ketchikan (x2), Juneau (x2), Skagway (x2), Glacier Bay National Park (x2), College Fjord, Anchorage, Hubbard Glacier and 2 sea days.
Option two: 12 days - Royal Princess - roundtrip Vancouver, Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait Point, Sitka, Hubbard Glacier, Glacier Bay National Park, Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier, Ketchikan and Victoria, also 2 sea days.

I realize FCC is non transferable, however I believe I read somewhere that it may be transferable if its from people that were originally booked in the same room. For the cruise that was cancelled, my sister and I as well as our 2 kids were booked in one room (they were the 3rd and 4th passengers). We received the FCC and my sister and nephew will not be cruising before it expires. My question is, can we combine their FCC with ours since we were originally on the same booking that received it?
-
Very helpful - thank you. I had always thought that they could not be used towards taxes and port fees. 🙂
-
Just trying to figure out my best option for using my FCC from a cancelled cruise (2020), if anyone can help? I'm not clear on what it can be used for. The cruise I'm looking at is a couple of hundred dollars less than my credit (I'm pretty sure that it can't go towards port fees and taxes?), however my daughter and I don't drink so not sure if its worth it for the Plus Package? So would it be better to use the whole credit and upgrade to the Plus or can the extra FCC be applied to anything else (tips, excursions, etc.) over and above the base fare?

Looking at booking a last minute Alaska cruise on Princess before my credits expire (fingers crossed for Monday;s announcement on Vancouver) and noticed basically the same itinerary for 3 different ships. Just looking for opinions/pros & cons for each?
Completely confused on the Skagway scenic railway situation
in Alaska

Just did the roundtrip train from Skagway last week and absolutely loved it. Wasn't sure if I should cancel but so glad I didn't - still lots of snow and beautiful. Lasted approx. 3 hours. Booked it through Princess because it was basically the same price and we boarded very close to the ship.
