Our check in was 10:30 to 11:00 but since Allure is bigger it makes sense to start a little later.  You can wait early or wait late, however you hang.  THere are no special boarding perks for Diamond now, nothing but suite guests/Pinnacles board first.  But as I said, we only waited a few minutes, about long enough to connect up with the ship's wifi and watch the safety video and we were boarding, we went directly to our lifeboat and checked in and then to the centrum bar.😁  I think we arrived and sat on outside benches at about 10:00.  We were walking through the doors right at 10:30.

    Thank you!

Our cruise buds always choose around 1:00 to arrive and board, it always takes them longer than us and we are already toasted and delightful by the time they get to Boleros or the Pub.😜  And often times she is complaining about the slowness and the crowds...I always urge them to come earlier but no go.  In Galveston last month, we were literally the first peeps at the check in desk getting all our papers checked (or I should say our phones since we use the app for everything), it was lovely!

BecciBoo - Were on the Allure Nov 27th out of Galveston, first cruise since early 2020, yay!  How early do they start boarding?  We have 11:00 check in time and are diamond and plan to get there early but not sure how early to try for, lol.

My daily attire is black on black, maybe a hint of gray and if I’m feeling adventurous  a pop of white. Believe me when I tell you embracing color is a big deal for me and it’s just a few pieces that I take on our trips.

Well you need to embrace color more often it looks great on you!!  I'm laughing and really enjoying this and reading it while showing my hubby the pics while he is watching La Lido Loca on the you tube.  This made my night!!  We were on the 4/6 sailing on the Enchantment.  We are enjoying the time at home with our 3 teen boys though!

Yikes.  This is just my opinion but I would not take my 80+ year-old parents on any cruise right now. I would be very concerned if your dad is not in great health. I wish you could convince your mother to cancel. If they go I hope they are safe.

If the crew test positive I guarantee you they will not sail on Saturday.

Well so glad my mom just cancelled their cruise on the Royal Princess 3/14!  Luckily she got the health advisory email and texted me to ask if they should cancel, I told her absolutely.

  5. Just got off the Liberty 3/8 for the second time this year and Love it.  Ask for my time dining when you board and then ask for a table for 2 then you can eat when you want.  There are no tickets for the ice show or any other show that we saw just show up at least 20 min or more early to get the seat you want.  For the shows in the theater we always sat in the back row and they were great seats, enjoyed all the shows even the late night comedy.  No park cafe or bags of chips that we found.  Chops and Gioviannis are both good.   Did not eat at the buffet for dinner but the last night looked really yummy, too bad we were already going to Chops. Have a great time!!

Hmmm. We are on the Royal this Saturday (14th). What would y'all do ? Any word if this sailing is a go?

My parents are also supposed to be on the Royal sailing on the 14th and I'm hoping they cancel as my dad is not in great health.  Mom is hard headed and probably wont cancel.  Now wondering if it will still sail or be cancelled.  If there is crew that tested positive wouldn't they just need to quarantine the whole crew??

  7. We were on a recent sailing on the Enchantment and our debarkation was delayed first due to fog then the gangway was not working.  They said something about due to the weather the last 48hrs the gangway was not working.  Debarkation ended up being like getting off in port on deck 1 or 0, I can't remember which deck it was.  It did go smoothly once they got started.  Just wondering if the gangway is working for the Liberty as we sail this Sun 3/1.

  8. Well count the two of us in on that 300 onboard this coming Sunday!  Were both diamond at 110 points and have JS 7712 on the Liberty sailing 3/1 so double points and chugging along to D+, lol.  My in-laws are coming along, gold, so we probably wont use the DC as much as normal.  Now heres to hoping some do cancel due to corona virus concerns and they get their royal up from a promenade view to a balcony.  Were ready for some sun & fun!

  9. I thought I had a picture of the muster station map for the Liberty but can't find it.  We sail on Sunday and my in-laws are going with us, they haven't been on a cruise in a long time so trying to plan ahead a little.  We have muster station B07 and they are D28 so wondering where they are.  I know they should be on deck 4 I think and probably on different sides and ends of the ship.  If anyone has the map can you post it please.  I did google it but didn't find it.

  10. More great information, thanks!  I just looked and Easter Sunday will be a sea day so thats good.

It will be just the two of us.  We wanted this specific itinerary and didn't realized it was over Easter until several weeks after we booked so our teen boys will be at home.  We have a lot of family close by so they will celebrate with the grandparents and cousins and I will probably leave them a little present.

  11. We recently sailed on both ships and do prefer the Liberty, its bigger, more dining options, food was better but the solarium area on the Enchantment was larger so thats a plus and had the park cafe right there for food.  We are booked for a 7nt on the Enchantment in April that goes to Nassau, Key West and Coco Cay.

I copied and pasted some thoughts I posted on another thread about Liberty vs Enchantment:

We were on the Feb 7th sailing on the Enchantment for the first time and had a great time.  Some thoughts on the above post:

-Solarium was great the first sea day as it was too cool and windy for us but the last sea day was surprisingly fantastic on the regular pool deck.

-Enjoyed the Diamond Club which is right above the Viking Crown Lounge, also bigger than the one on the Liberty.

-It was a different ship layout that took some getting used to and finding new things throughout our sailing.

-Park Cafe was good and convenient.

-We also thought the MDR on any other ship we have been on had much better food.  It's the same menu but some of our favorite things just weren't that good.  Staff however was fantastic!

-Tried the Windjammer for one breakfast and one lunch and looked at dinner options several nights.  We were not impressed at all it wasn't as good and had less options than the Liberty.

-Yes a more relaxed vibe which we enjoyed.

-Enjoyed the look of the Centrum and reminded us of Carnival ships.

-Went to most if not all shows and comedy shows and while we enjoyed them just not as good as the ones on the Liberty.

-Spent our fair share of time in the Casino, machines were pretty good to us, bar service was great and it was convenient to the Theater for the shows and MDR for dinner.

-We normally book a balcony cabin but had an OV this time and enjoyed it, size wasn't much different but would have been nice to have that balcony.

-Fog delayed us getting back to port then they said the weather the last 48hrs affected the gangway so we ended us getting off on deck 1 like when your in port but it seemed to work quickly and smoothly once they started the process.

-We are booked for a week on the Enchantment in April and looking forward to it but in the future would pick the Liberty over the Enchantment.

I have been on LOS 4 times and EOS 2 times (4 and a 5 day cruise).

    EOS

-Enclosed solarium is great for 1st and last sea days that tend to be iffy

-Viking Crown Lounge is huge and a good place to chil-lax

-It’s hard to walk around entire deck, upper deck is sometimes cutoff by rock

climbing and lower deck can’t access the bow

-Park cafe seems a lot better then Cafe Promenade and they will have hot dog, hamburger and nacho buffet during the day

-MDR is not as good, no lobster on shorter cruises

-Special area on buffet for gluten free

-Easier to get around but spa and Windjammer are on opposite ends opposed to LOS, got confused a lot

-More audience participation in shows especially quest and battle of sexes

-Only two showers in men’s locker room and no sauna or steam rooms

    -More relaxed vibe

-Shops are tucked away so they don’t interfere with ship activities

-Pictures are old fashioned not electronic

-Easier to see activities in the centrum because of multiple open decks but can get

     as congested as Promenade

-Schooner bar is narrower and is divided in half by walkway hard to enjoy the venue

-Trampoline bungee is a lot easier, and safer (at least for me) then standup

      Flow-rider

-Casinos on both have not been kind to me lately

I have to say I enjoyed both but for different reasons.

  13. Well we just realized our Enchantment sailing is over Easter weekend.  We saw it was doing a 7nt to Coco Cay a while back so picked that sailing not thinking to check when Easter is this year, sorry kids mom and dad wont be here this year, lol.  At least our kids are teen boys and haven't hunted eggs, etc. in a long time but maybe the Easter Bunny will have to reappear and leave them each a basket of goodies for ditching them.  So now on to Easter onboard will there be any celebrations?  Special menu or anything?

Just got off the Enchantment earlier this morning from a 5 day cruise out of Galveston.  This is our 2nd on Enchantment.  Compared to the 3 cruises on the Liberty out of Galveston also, the embarkation onto Enchantment both times were awesome, absolutely no security lines, instant check in, & were onboard within minutes, compared to 25 - 30 minutes for security on the Liberty.  Once onboard, we eat lunch at the Windjammer buffet, then quick walkthrough of the ship.  Rooms were open & available by 1pm, our luggages arrived by 2pm.

Enchantment is much smaller ship than Liberty & Oasis, but service staff is outstanding!

Debark is the best ever.  Our #5 tags were scheduled to be called around 9:10am, we left our cabin & walked down at 8:50am & our # was called, walked right off ship, luggage ready, 2 minute wait for immigration & customs, we were out by 9:10am.

Thanks for the information!  We have muster station 1 do you know where that is?

  15. So we sail the Enchantment the first time Feb 7th and are excited just to be away together and on a ship!!  In the last year we have sailed all of the Oasis class ships and the Liberty several times so we are used to a big ship.  Normally we like to get to the port and board early, time to explore the ship, eat, etc.  but not sure what to do this time.  It will be a new ship to explore even if a smaller one so that will be fun.  Trying to decide if we should do our normal and get there early or wait until closer to the rooms being ready time.  What does everyone enjoy doing after boarding the Enchantment??  Just getting excited for time alone with my Love and exploring a new ship!!

That was our first cruise, January 1989

We still have a souvenir from that cruise.

    He's 30 now. 😉

Awesome!!!  That was my first cruise, my second was at 30 yrs old I convinced my husband to try a cruise, we had a 2 yr old son and was pregnant with twin boys due in several months.  He was hooked after that and we have all sailed many times.

As for the original post we sailed RCCL our first 4-5 cruises, kids in tow, then didn't sail for probably close to 10 years.  We did land/resort vacations.  Well we decided we loved cruising so did a ton of Carnival sailings until Jan 2019 we went on the Harmony and we've been loyal to royal ever since!!  I

  17. Thats awesome congratulations!!  Yes keep it a secret until boarding or actually going to your cabin.  I kept it a secret as long as I could which was only 2 days luckily.  Embarkation morning we were getting ready to leave our hotel and saw a change in ports on our cruise planner and realized changes were made due to Dorian so I let the cat out of the bag.  I kind of wished I would have waited until we went to our cabin but it was Amazing either way!! Our one and only Royal up we got was on the Allure several months ago, we went from a balcony to a 2 br Grand Suite for just the two of us and lucked out with Dorian and got a few extra nights!!  We ate almost every meal in coastal kitchen and really enjoyed it.
