  1. You must be the guy I saw on my recent cruise that bought in for $500 at the BJ table, then 10 minutes later was at the cashier's cage getting another 2K on your seapass card. ;), add another $100 for the 5%.

Meanwhile I was cashing in my measly $50 win.

Nope - I usually bring cash but if I want more instead of running to my room to get it out of the safe, I'll take out a few hundred at the BJ table WITHOUT a fee. Blue Chip players don't get hit with the fee. When my bankroll in the safe is big, I bring some down to guest services to pay down my bill.

I have seen guys sit down and take out $3+ thousand at the tables, bet like crazy and lose it all in 10 minutes and take out more. I usually start at $25 or $50 hands and when I start winning, bump my bets up. Best run I had last month was starting at $50 and every time I won, I'd increase my bet by $50. Won 9 hands in a row (ie. last bet won was $450). Lost, dropped my bet back down and left a few hands later with a couple thousand in profit which lasted me the rest of the trip.

  2. Got an email that my incentive for the next cruise is $425 which is exactly the same as the last cruise. I was expecting more based on my play and not getting comped on the ship.

  3. We're 44 and 42 and were just on Equinox for NYE. There were events but I wouldn't call it very lively. They had 2 small celebrations in one of the lounges during the afternoon for EU and UK cruisers when they would be celebrating at home. There were hats, tiaras, horns and noise makers given out at the restaurants that night (formal night), a (not so) special show in the theater and a huge celebration at midnight at the pool. They had an ice sculpture of 2014 next to the pool and at midnight the captain destroyed the 4 with a mallet and workers replaced it with a 5. There was music, dancing and lots of champagne given out. Around 12:30, a few people finally decided to jump into the pool fully clothed (I may have had something to do with convincing them to). At least half the crowd was gone by that time. By 1am, the party was pretty much done at the pool and the normal crowd hit the bars and casino.

It was an experience but I wouldn't consider it thrilling. We probably had just as much fun at the 80s party they had a couple days before in the disco.

  4. Was just on this last month. We did ziplines in Costa Rica through the ship (original canopy). It was great (except for the family of freaks in our tour who held us all up). We booked cave tubing though an outside company (butts up) in Belize for a fraction of what the ship charged and we were at the same caves as those who booked on the ship. They also offered zip lining but glad we decided not to do it. It's just a small zipline that goes back and forth around the parking lot area of the cave tubing. Cozumel also had ziplining at the dolphin area. Again, not something to do. It was also small and just went back and forth - more like a carnival ride than a true zipline. Stick with Costa Rica, can't go wrong with it there!

  5. It's the same shower but instead of a showerhead, it's a special spa panel that has a handheld showerhead plus 6 (or 8) body jets. You can turn on either the showerhead or body jets alone or both at the same time. Personally I always found that the jets seem to hit me in all the "wrong places" no matter how much I adjusted them! Probably because you're still in a tiny shower stall that forces you to be 2 inches from the panel. So after a while I just used the showerhead.

  6. Do you happen to have the new questionnaire with the ebola questions on it?

    "Do you have Ebola?".............sorry, I couldn't resist!

If I remember correctly from last month, it asked if you've been to those few African countries that have the Ebola outbreak in recent months. And if you're a healthcare worker who has cared for someone with Ebola. Don't quote me on it but that was the gist of the questions.

  7. We play in the Casino on most of our cruises. We have never been offered a thing. We go to Vegas 3 times a year and are comped a suite and food and beverage. How much money do you have to play to be comped ?

I tend to play blackjack 2 or 3 hours per night with $100-150 average hands

  8. I'm always looked after really well un the casinos. When they comp the speciality restaurants it always includes wine of my choice and any guests I have with me. Have never seen a bill for these. Also check with Bluechip office as you should have a cash rebate due from your play. This can be used towards paying for another cruise or receive cash on next cruise. I will be sailing on 17 night Asia on Millie In April and have $3800 waiting to collect. Woohoo. Also looking forward to seeing next years comped sailings.

Wow - that's really good. I got $425 on the last cruise which I was pretty happy with. Waiting to hear what I get for the upcoming one. For restaurants and spa, do you ask the casino to make the reservations for you or do you make them directly and let the casino know that you have them?

  9. In my experience you won't see a credit, rather they will remove the charge directly from your account - the only charges I have ever had removed were specialty restaurants and internet packages.

Hmmm. The only charge I don't see on the final bill is some laundry pressing from day 1 but I noticed all through the cruise that it never got charged so I doubt that small charge was the one that the casino took off. Never questioned why I wasn't charged since they melted buttons on several dress shirts so I would have complained anyway that they owed me.

I booked another cruise for December so let's see what they come back with for perks on that cruise. Still annoying that they said they took care of me but didn't.

  10. Anyone ever get comps applied to your final on board account from the casino? I'm part of the Blue Chip club and on the last night of our Equinox cruise from 2 weeks ago where I played quite a bit, I asked the casino host if they give comps for the restaurants or spa services. He said Yes and I just have to ask so I did. He went and talked to the casino manager and came back and said that "he took care of me and was putting something through". But my final bill never changed and my credit card was charged for the exact amount of the final bill. So they obviously didn't put anything through or forgot to do it.

I email the Blue Chip club and they said they couldn't do anything after leaving the ship but they'd take it into account when I book my next cruise.

Just curious if anyone has ever gotten credits applied to your final onboard account based on the play from that cruise? I would have been happy with taking off one or two specialty restaurants. Wondering if people have gotten that or alot more?

  11. A lot of people on this thread are saying that parents allow their children to run havoc......you are all.voicing your opinion so I am voicing mine and defending myself and my children in the process. At no point did I say anyone was directly.discussing me!! Please don't do that. I see badly behaved children and parents ignoring it. ....It annoys me ad much as those travelling without children. All I was saying I'd that it is unfair to judge ALL children. That's it.

This was a thread about someone who witnessed unruly behavior by lots of children. I was on the same cruise and also witnessed it. Not sure what the value was in telling everyone how well behaved your children are many times when the problem is obviously not your children. I still think some parents think their kids are angels but don't see the devils when they turn their heads. No one can watch their kids 24 hours a day. Just my opinion.

  12. I actually kind of resent that!! If my children did not behave on public there is no way in living hell I would take them abroad, or in to town,

Let alone on a Celebrity Cruise

Just the thought that comes to mind. Especially when people see kids causing problems and their parents just sit there doing nothing. Maybe those parents think their kids are being well behaved too because they're numb to it. Possibility.

  13. The bartenders don't work on Celebrity to avoid children. Get real. The only reason people work on cruise ships is for the $$$. None of service people enjoy shipboard life or the customers. The cast members and cruise directors do it for travel perks but the majority of the crew are simply there for your money and nothing else. So if you say you hate all the kids- they agree with you. If you love kids-they agree with you. Everything is always what the passengers want.

I took it to mean that she chose to work on Celebrity versus another cruise line. She was the Molecular bartender and a little girl went up and asked for a soda....Molecular only serves the drinks on the menu, nothing else so she sent the girl away. And I didn't provoke her with a comment about liking or hating kids. Still funny AND REAL!

  14. On our last Celebrity cruise which was a Christmas cruise on Equinox, there were almost 600 children since schools were off. One bartender groaned and said to me "There are 600 kids on this cruise. There's normally only a few. The reason I work on Celebrity is because I don't want to have to deal with kids."

Had to laugh at that one!

Only real problem I witnessed several times were teenagers who would roam the ship at night in packs and caused issues at the disco and bars. Fights in the disco and security had to always be there at night. And one kid (brat!) who was only like 18 was arguing with a bar manager after he was caught buying martinis. I think he was using someone else's card but insisted that since Celebrity sold him a drink package (which I doubt) that they should serve him.

  15. Yes, large buffet on 15 for breakfast, lunch and dinner. O'Shehans is open 24 hours and it's pretty good - small menu but good food and fairly quick and no charge.

Don't miss Rock of Ages. Diet Pepsi is what I remember being served, not sure if there's any other diet soda. There's a walking track on (I think) 16. Basic track. Avoid the room service pizza - undercooked and would be just as bad even if it was cooked fully. Truly the worst pizza I've ever tried to eat and we all agreed on that.

  16. Was just on Breakaway. On the last day of the cruise I stopped by the players Club desk and ask them to review my account and they took $250 off my final bill. That was in addition to the free cabin I received.

Plus I called last week to book another cruise. They offered a free oceanview cabin on a 7 day cruise or a free inside cabin on a 14 day European which I'm going for.

  17. Quick question - I tend to be the drink gopher. If we both get the UBP, can I just bring my companion's card to the bar and get us both drinks or does he need to physically be there each time?

Celebrity never had a problem with me handing them two cards, swipe and go (and no slip signing).

  18. I must be confused. You were in a foreign city. You knew you had to buy some clothes to replace those you had in the lost luggage. You then decided to give yourself a mere 60 minutes to find and purchase those clothes, when you knew you had to board your ship in the next two hours. Am I missing something, because if I'm not and the above details are correct, you were inviting a lot of stress. The cancellation of the flight and the lost luggage were not your fault. Cutting it kinda close for the clothes shopping, though.

I still feel for you. The whole thing sounds like a nightmare to me.

I assumed they were hoping their bags would show up instead of paying for a whole new wardrobe.
