  1. Yes, that is correct. However, I think you will have to come up with a new deposit out of pocket, as I believe the future cruise credit cannon be used as a deposit. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    Interesting.....

So to compound the scenario I've already made payments equaling $922.

Currently, the cancel now button says the cancellation fee would be $400, which I believe was my original deposit amount. I would assume that $400 would be held in a future cruise credit?

So would I be able to use the difference ($522) as the deposit and $400 credit to pay the rest?

Man, what a pain. I am going to call again at lunch time. Seems like a lot of skirting the system for a relative easy $100 on carnival's part to just allow the downgrade.

  2. Currently booked in a 8C on upcoming Conquest sailing. We are still outside of final payment and booked early saver.

I looked online today and found a interior with picture window for $450 less than our currently booked 8C.

Called Carnival just to try and they denied the downgrade to the interior cabin....even for $50/pp charge.

Now my question is.....if I cancel my booking and incur $50/pp fee, I will still have the remainder of my depost/payments made eligible for another cruise, correct?

Can I just rebook the conquest in the interior and thus result in the same net end result? I feel like I am missing something here.

  3. Why do I want these??

    $100 gift card for $90.

Pay off your cruise with them and essentially get 10% off the price of the cruise. They can also be used for onboard spending account.

There is a small processing fee that verizon charges. Last time I bought 2 $100 cards for $183, I believe.

  4. Is a change to a larger terminal indicative of any changes to ships that may be coming? Can't wait for the Tampa announcements.

The not so secret word on the street was that Carnival had wanted Terminal #3 for quite some time but the port wouldn't make the switch.

In the meantime, Carnival pulled year round 7 day sailings from Tampa and have since only had a Fantasy class ship......one of the least desirable in terms of latest amenities, for year round sailings.

I would say this move to Terminal 3 is very indicative that the Port of Tampa is ready for Carnival to bring back year round 7 day sailings.

The port bluffed, Carnival callled, and here we are today. Waiting for that final round of dancing announcements!!!!

  5. Y'all quit posting this and helping your fellow cruisers! I had 12 in my cart and was in the process of checking out and - poof - they were gone! :D:mad:

HAHAHAHA. I felt the same way. It's too bad. But now that the savings trick is out there, they are being bought in bulk.

I imagine they never expected folks to be buying 5, 10, 12, etc at one time!

  6. That night at 11:15 was supposed to be caribbean music in the cantina which sounded great. So after dinner i went to the casino with the plan of meeting my girlfriend around 11:15 at the cantina to enjoy some caribbean music. Well at 11:15 we get there and its still Amy singing cover songs. 11:30 rolls along and still cover songs. 11:45 still cover songs...so we leave. No explanation is ever given why caribbean music didnt happen.

This happened on our last cruise. Turns out, my wife had grabbed the Fun Times from the bed after turn down, which is the next day's events, not that night's....

    Doh!

Not saying you did this. Your description of events just reminded me of our gaffe.

  7. Port Tampa Bay is far from dead and Paradise, or another Fantasy class ship, will not be the only Carnival vessel in port for very much longer....more to follow on April 6th!

Ok, I am calling my shot.....

    1. Legend replaces Spirit year round in Australia. Spirit takes over for Legend in Alaska over the summer then repositions to Tampa.

    2. Sensation moves to Miami to compete with Majesty of the Seas. Paradise goes to dry dock and then replaces Sensation in Port Canaveral.

    3. Ecstasy to Tampa

  8. Must be a system threshold in place. Surprised that it didn't allow the purchase if the purchase was less than the amount of cash available.

But......the lido servers, for instance, still use the paper tickets. It could be all the onboard purchases from the Lido bars hadn't been entered yet.

Who knows. Obviously Carnival's system was trying to 'CYA' in case you went on a last minute spending spree. LOL

  9. Booked a 7 day cruise out of New Orleans last week (3/23). Checked today, and cruise is $80.00 cheaper - and Carnival WILL NOT match their own price. I know that if I had booked Early Saver they would have, but I could not book Early Saver because the cruise is 45 days out. I know $80.00 is not a huge difference, but it annoys me that they won't match their own price. Been cruising with Carnival for many years....now thinking of switching.......did talk to a supervisor, and while they were sympathetic, there was ..."nothing they could do....."

Maybe ask for an upgrade in lieu of the difference? Worth a shot

  10. Seems like this would be an easy catch for them and would require the other person to purchase cheers also if they switch

This is exactly why I don't understand making every adult in the same room purchase it. If you allow musical 'chairs' of stateroom swapping, just let individuals purchase regardless of the others.

I get Carnival is hedging its bet that most individuals can't and won't utilize every drink each day, but man what a PITA they've made this.

15 drinks is 15 drinks, whether they are shared or not. Loosen the purse strings!

  11. Not sure if I have bad information or what, but I don't see the benefit of booking onboard the ship.

The OBC seems relatively small for the risk you take if you end up needing to cancel.

Does anyone have the fine print? I though I saw its only $50 OBC on sailngs up to 6 or 7 days???

  12. I have researched online but got mixed reviews...Basically I have enough points to get $200 off my current cruise...E certificate. I have to transfer my booked cruise to a Discover Card cruise with Carnival if that makes sense... Is there any CONS to doing this?? I am skeptical...Anyone have experience doing this??

I've always been leery of doing this. Discover is simply partnering with a travel agency so you would lose access to make any changes/inquiries directly with Carnival. You would have to go through the TA for everything. Typically, the fine print also states that the reward is for new bookings only.

Can you just redeem the points for a discover gift card or statement credit? Much easier to just apply the gift card or statement credit to your Carnival booking.

  13. Just took our 9 month old on the Pride earlier this month. Who cares if they don't remember? I do! It's family time and its not a family vacation if one us is left behind.

He was a hit with everyone on that ship....crew & passengers. It was sweet and sad to see the crew interacting with him because they would tell us they hadn't seen their own children in person in months.

  14. Thank you for your replies.

I've not been wait listed since becoming Platinum 3 yrs ago.

I did just book last week though' date=' so yes we booked late.

Evening dinner is one of the most enjoyable parts of our cruise

and I will be disappointed if we aren't able to get ATD.[/quote']

This happened to us on our last cruise. Wife simply called Carnival and explained the situation. The next day we received our confirmation from the Maitre'd.

  15. I don't think it would really bother me to have to make show reservations in advance. However I have never had to wait in line to attend any show in the main lounge on Carnival. And there's usually two in the evening.

Agreed. I also wonder how many not knowing you need to book in advance, prior to sailing at that, have felt burned after learning this information once the ship has already set sail.

It wouldn't happen to a large population on these boards just because we all very invested prior to the cruise. I know I would be upset if the shows being advertised to sell the ship were all sold out prior to sailing and I didn't know to book in advance.
