  1. Tip the room steward the VERY FIRST time you see him. Let him know who you are and in what cabin. You'll get better cabin attention then waiting until the end ....... We always do this and they are very appreciative. Cash on top of prepaid grats.

I completely agree with this... I slip them an extra $20 as soon as I meet them.

  2. Mine surprise wasn't for a cruise but I'd booked a trip to Disney World for my son and I (DH couldn't go) and I didn't tell my DS until I picked him up at school to take him to the airport. He figured it out when I gave him a shirt with Mickey on it! I kept the secret from Feb until the end of April. Good thing he can't spell or pick up on little conversations between my DH and myself. :)

  3. We love Princess as well and did Disney Dream last Sept with our DS (4) and some friends with DD (3 and 5). The kids LOVED the kids area and the adults did too... We even enjoyed the adult area side of Castaway Cay while the kids played. We really enjoyed the cruise other than the fact that we did a 4 day to accommodate our friends. I'd never do a 4 day again, just not enough time to enjoy everything.

My husband who never wanted to cruise on DCL before our son even though I did made the comment on board that he wonders if we'll enjoy our Princess cruise now that we've experienced DCL. I know we will! We had great service the entire time we were on board until that dreadful day they made us disembark and my son cried because he was leaving the Aqua Duck behind!

Yes the cost of DCL is much higher than we'd prefer to pay but my goal is one more aboard the Fantasy and then that will be it.

This is will our DS's first Princess cruise (he has also been on Carnival) so it will be interesting to now cruise on Princess with a child for the first time.

Princess is by far our favorite cruise line and we will continue to cruise in the future.

  4. We will be sailing with our DS in a few weeks and are in balcony stateroom C254 on the Regal. Wondering if someone could please confirm the placement of the upper bed?

The only time I've cruised with a third in the room, which happened to be me, my drop down bed was located essentially over top of the side of the bed closest to the wall that separates the bed area from the storage and bathroom area. But I think I saw a picture somewhere that showed the drop down coming from closer to the balcony door. If that's the case, is it difficult to get on the balcony without waking up DS? He's a pretty heavy sleeper?

If anyone has a picture to share I'd appreciate it!

I would say that as much as we loved Disney, that was the one complaint I had about his bed being right next to the balcony so it was difficult (from a noise perspective) to get on the balcony when he was asleep. I wish they flipped the kids sleeping area away from the balcony door. It wouldn't keep us from cruising with them again though.

    Thanks in advance!

  5. My mom is on the Regal right now and I have her itinerary printed out and it says in St.Thomas 10 AM to 10 PM so yes the current voyage the time had been changed .I believe because there was too many ships in port for the dock.

Good to know! Thanks for the information. Looks like there are only supposed to be 3 in when we arrive so we might be ok with the 10-10. Fingers crossed.

  6. We were in St Thomas one time downtown and there was a really nasty fight in the street between some really drunk guy and an owner of one of the jewelry stores (OLD guy) and his "crew" and my husband wanted to be the hero and help out. I knew we were already pushing it getting back to the ship in time. We weren't late (still back before the posted time) but we were close to being late.

It was the most nerve wracking thing for me and we were both shaky over it all night. My husband STILL brings that fight up every time we go to STT.
