  1. Not doing a true live from, but will try and report in occasionally. The Captain just announced that due to sea conditions (20 foot seas and force 9 winds) that we are going to reverse the order of ports in hopes of being able to make it in to both planned ports. Halifax tomorrow and St. John on Tuesday. He said that there would be no chance of making the port entry into St John tomorrow due to winds. Excursion desk is currently rearranging tours. Glad we did not have independent tours planned this time! It took two tugs to get us off the dock in Brooklyn last night.

  2. 11AM is my choice. On our last cruise there was only one customs agent on duty when the walk offs started through. Just getting through customs took an hour. Then there was a traffic issue because there were seven ships in port. We got through TSA about 9:40. Several passengers missed the 9:45 flight and all the flights to Atlanta were full with long lists of standbys already. They had little chance to get out until the next day.

  3. Magic to Do was the most creative show I have seen at sea. We saw it on Ruby last year and the cast was the best I have seen in any show not on Broadway or the West End. Fiera is another wonderful show, but totally different.

  4. I have been on a few cruises where Sunday was a sea day and a member of the crew (once the Captain) led an interdenominational service. On other cruises where it was an early port day there would be no service or a small meeting in a conference room with a passenger leading.

  5. If you splurge on any excursions, do the small boat excursion in Tracy Arm if it is offered! You board the small boat in the middle of the fjord and you get much closer to the glacier, pulling right up to icebergs and quite often they chip off pieces and offer (for purchase) glacertinis. You then cruise back, often seeing many whales on your way back to join the ship in port. This excursion often sells out since these are small boats. Ours was the overflow and only had about 40 passengers!

  6. We have done this cruise three times, so it is obviously our favorite! Tendering is always an issue on this cruise. So many folks want to spend every possible moment ashore and they all arrive back in port in the last hour. Tough to move that many people in an hour! I firmly believe the reason for telling everyone they must take passports ashore in France is the number of people that miss the ship for the return to Southampton. We have seen multiple passengers not make it back each time we did this cruise.

  7. One consideration that I think is very important. The further away the port is from the major sights, the more important it is to take a Princess excursion, especially if you are not an experienced cruiser in Europe. We have seen more people miss the ship in some of these ports than anywhere else. Traffic can be outrageous on the coast, especially in August. My wife and I experienced a wildcat train strike that almost made us miss the ship in Monte Carlo. We arrived after the last tender time but several Princess tours had suffered the same problem with trains we had and they held the ship for them. Several people did miss the ship and had to get from Monte Carlo to Barcelona on their own.

  8. I was on the four day and found the food to be very good. Our service in Anytime was better than on most of our cruises. We never had to wait for a table, but we did agree to join others. There were very long waits for two tops. I do not understand reserving tables being allowed in Anytime Dining. The tables sit empty far too long being held for specific times.

Magic to Do is a must see and for this show you do have to arrive quite early. The comedian (Miguel Washington) also deservedly drew a large audience.
