  1. I just booked an expensive excursion in Icy Strait Pointe last week and then today saw that there is a time difference. Do we stay on ship time (Seattle time) or do we change our watches during this cruise to match port times? I'm hoping I didn't screw up our excursion time as I chose first thing in the morning.  Thanks so much!

  2. Has anyone taken the Premier Whale Watch & Mendenhall Glacier combo on Viator.com? Is viator a reputable site for excursions? This is exactly the tour we are looking for but I get nervous booking with tours that are not thru our cruise ship (Royal Caribbean Quantum).  We want to do the whale watch first and then have enough time to do the hike to Nugget falls at Mendenhall. Our port time is 1-9, tour is 2:30 and is 5 hours long.  Seems good but you know... just looking for some reviews on this or recommendations on excursions you guys have done that fit the bill.  Thanks!

  3. I am looking at a Balcony room Jan 7th Enchantment of the Seas but all thats left is a guarantee. Not sure. So afraid of getting stuck in a horrible, noisy room. Do you guys recommend taking this or not?

We've sailed Disney Wonder 4 times and Radiance of the Seas Alaska once. We are traveling to a family reunion in Orlando and I want to tack this 4 night cruise onto our trip. No other choice of dates. But we could down grade to an OV just really wanted our first Balcony room.

    Thanks!

  4. So I'm trying to find out if Canada is one of those countries that requires your passport to valid up to 6 months past your travel time frame. From what I've googled it doesn't. The cruise line didn't know and the airlines said from what they can tell it doesn't. I want hard concrete info on this since my kids (teens) passports expire the month after we travel. Which normally wouldn't be a big deal but I have been reading about how there are countries that have that 6 month requirement. Can anyone shed some light on this?

    Thanks so much!

  5. We are booked on Radiance in June to Alaska and I cant find what is served specifically. My teens are still quite picky and I don't know if we'll survive without pizza and chicken tenders!! Can anyone tell me what kind of food choices there are for kids/teens? For instance, what is served at the café in the Solarium and at the buffet? What kinds of choices are on the dinner menus?

    Thanks so much!

  6. Good topic! This helped immensely! I just booked our Hertz rental at the airport this morning for next summer and then I see this post. I check the downtown Hertz location and its over $100 cheaper! Wow!

So I'm thinking that my husband can jump in a cab and go pick up our car while I'm waiting at the luggage carousel. Come back and then pick up me and the kids.

Does this sound like it would work? How much is a cab from the airport to downtown Anchorage? Anyone know?

  7. The menu looks fabulous to me but I know my kids won't eat crab. There wasn't anything on the menu that wasn't crab. Does anyone know if there are any fast food type places nearby so I can pick up some lunch for my kids?

  8. I measured my sideways cabin at about 190 sq ft - about 11.5 x 17.5.

When you enter there is a big open space. Closet starts about 4 ft down the right wall. Bed is in the back right corner facing the closet. Bathroom is is the left corner behind the door. Bathroom door opens the same way as the hall door. Desk area is perpendicular to the bathroom along the left wall and the love seat sofa is on the back wall between the head of the bed and the desk. Space is tight sitting at the desk because the chair backs into the couch armrest, but that didn't bother me at all. There is a lot of space to walk between the foot of the bed and the closet. The whole entryway area is open across the room from the entry door to the couch.

    Thanks for the explanation!

  9. You have to get an E1 balcony to get the configuration you are looking for.

On deck 3 3635 and 3639 are extra large sideways cabins, but not connecting. I got 3635 as a guarantee on the Brilliance and loved it even though it's a little more walking. I loved the space so much I have booked it again for a future cruise.

You want to stay near the aft elevators, if possible. Also, the Q cabins on deck 2 are great - much better than I expected. I have booked one of those again as well. Super quiet hallway and close to the elevators. Only two decks up to the Centrum.

How old are your teenagers? Is a connecting cabin really necessary? The first time we sailed, I just threw my older different sex teenagers into an inside cabin next door to us, laid down some rules, and that was it.

I was wondering about those sideways cabins. Maybe I can google and see if I find some pictures of those.

Actually you are right. We don't need connecting, next door is fine. Do connecting ones cost more than just side by side?

  10. We are booking a Radiance to Alaska for next year. We've only sailed Disney so I don't understand the room configurations. I'm looking for an inside cabin with a sofa bed and a Pullman over the sofa bed and a privacy curtain. We have 2 teens (a boy and a girl so they cannot share a large sofabed). We prefer the Pullman be over the sofabed. Does this configuration exist and which rooms should I be looking at to get one of these?

Thanks so much! I've been googling and searching this forum but I still can't figure out which rooms have this exact configuration.
