  1. I was looking at reviews for the Adventure of the Seas and while there are a fair amount of positive reviews....a majority of the negative ones suggest there are a lot of misbehaved children on board. I am looking to go in late May/early June 2019 so the kids should be in school.

For those that have been whether kids were in school at the time or not, were the kids really as misbehaved as the negative reviews state? I am very good with children and have a high tolerance for them, but if I'm near the bar I am not interested in screaming kids around. I recognize each cruise ship will have its own unique population, but in general would you say the families with young children were that bad? It also says that there were long lines for everything on this cruise...is that true?

Just cruised AOS over Christmas. Lots of families vacationing. No bother at all with kids. Great size ship with lots to do and a terrific staff and cruise director/staff. We had young kids behind us at dinner - nice family and nothing out of the ordinary. No bother at all. I enjoy seeing families getting together. It's vacation so vibe was good all around. Sometimes line for the soft serve but not always - it seemed to move & my young adult "kids" didn't complain about line being too long.

    Great ship and crew!

  2. Do they give you any flak for wearing shorts on non formal nights?

On AOS now and most people comply and look good - slacks, button downs etc, sun dresses. Some have the "anything goes" look in casual shorts, football jerseys, etc. Staff doesn't say anything but I was surprised that some dress very casual - the dining room is gorgeous and it kind of looks out of place. Just my opinion.

  3. Very anxious to hear if anyone has any hotel luck

    12/22

    La Concha - Renaissance

    Power

    La Condado area

Great stay with superb service - from checkin to check out, to meals, etc. A+

Some stores/restaurants in area open. And some still closed.

We also spent morning on 12/24 in Old San Juan - many stores and restaurants open also Puerto Rico Drug (in square near yellow tower) has lots of pre cruise selections from flip flops, blow up rafts, sunscreen, beach bags, etc. if you forgot anything.

Taxis running and from airport we pre booked GO Shuttle which worked wee for group of 8 with luggage to get to hotel.

  4. Hi- Would you remember the price for chair and umbrella rentals-by any chance? thanks

We were there on Sunday, Christmas Eve day. Got there about 11:15am but chairs and umbrellas sold out so never got price. They also have loungers. Great day there. I found shade under tree so it was fine (I don't sit in sun). There is a picnic structure with picnic tables too (open with roof for shade).

Place looks great - sand and water spectacular!

$10pp taxi (open air) each way.

  5. Can you rent chairs there? We are in St Kitts on Christmas Day and Carambola is closed due to private party so looking for somewhere else to go.

Actually shoreexcursioneers.com does have a Xmas day excursion there and they say it is open for bookings and they are taking reservations. Very confusing as Carambola through FB says closed for private event. (?)

  6. The taxi stand is just outside luggage pickup...cheap,easy and regulated pricing by zone...you will probably need two van type taxi's..really no reason to pre-arrange but your choice.

Thank you. I found GO Shuttle which seems to be the typical shared /private van service - price was good so I'll report back.

  7. When we boarded the EN last year for the NYE cruise, Chops was already sold out for all three nights with a special menu and higher prices.

We ended up in the MDR where they served Surf (lobster tail) and Turf (Filet). They also had hats, noisemakers, etc. on the tables. Dinner was delicious and we had a great time celebrating New Years in the MDR.

Thanks! I do have reservation for Xmas eve for Chops and MDR for Xmas day dinner so I'll stick with that and report back!

  8. I have found out that Carambol is having a private party on Christmas Day.

The Shipwreck is open at least until 4 pm. that day.

Discovery Beach is open and will arrange round trip transportation if you email them your numbers. No word on cost.

Anyone discover anything else? I don't know how many ships will be in port that day.

    Renee

We are also there Christmas Day. Carambola beach club is closed due to private party per email I got.

Not sure what to do. Might do the Nevis catamaran tour from ship.

  9. I almost hesitate to mention this one because it was a Royal excursion and they change vendors to whomever gives them a better profit margin, but one of the best Royal excursions I have done was a Catamaran BBQ lunch to Nevis, we had a great time. This was 2014, do they still use the same vendor and provide the same value? I don't know.

Looked at this RCCL bbq catamaran sail. How much beach time do you get? I don't care to snorkel but would love to see Nevis. Are there chairs/umbrellas at beach (provided or for rent)? Really want to go to Nevis just trying to figure which excursion is best.

Anyone with tips on Nevis excursions please respond. Thanks!

  10. Here at La Concha Renaissance now - a breeze disembark today - in the terminal make use of a porter - we were out and directly to a taxi in less than 15mins! Porters are happy for the work and truly valuable to get you through the customs line!

Resort is fully functional - 4 pools open 24/7, Internet, beautiful ocean front room. Lots of shops and restaurants.

    Enjoy your vacations!

Thank you for posting! We are booked there for pre-cruise stay on 12/22 :) I do appreciate this update. Enjoy your trip.

  11. Ive completed the entire Check In process (including adding my picture) and was able to Print Out the Set Sail Pass....yet when I get back to the main page it shows that my Set Sail is still "In Progress". Does any one have an idea when it would show that and not just "Completed"? As always thanks in advance on this question

Did mine yesterday. How do you add photo? I did not see that as an option
