  1. Yes, in theory. I very very rarely lunch in the buffet, but once, when I did fancy a glass of wine, I was unable to find a wine waiter.
  2. I have always been told the drink is for consumption in the cabin only, that is over twenty years, but that may not count as recent for Cunard aficionados.
  3. I think you should find plenty of people to watch, never fear.
  4. Q1 - Q4 should have priority tendering. A card should come to your room. Last time (2023 QV) I had to argue about it, but it says so in the printed brochure. When the ship is docked, unless something has gone wrong, there is rarely much of a queue, so just turn up and stroll off, whatever grade of cabin. I usually wait until the tours are likely to have gone.
  5. Did this just happen or did a travelling companion make arrangements?
  6. Your two year old is a very lucky young thing. 😀
  7. I’m sure there are some others who might like to know. It is obviously a case of, if you have to ask, you’re not fit to be on Cunard. The right type automatically know. 😀😀
  8. In Mantua, the speciality is donkey. Very nice, I’m told.
  9. I don’t do anything much with mine, but, if you wanted a little party to celebrate your anniversary, s/he’s you wo/man. And be aware of the Concierge in the Grills Lounge. I have found them brilliant for dealing with queries and problems. And revel in the extra space.
  10. I am sure that is the case, but it is not the universal truth, there are others who enjoy seeing children. I for instance am blessed, as you put it, not to have children, and, inevitably as a former teacher, my default position towards children is fear and loathing (exaggeration for effect), but I am always charmed to see the well behaved children on Cunard. However, I can appreciate the shock of a friend who found himself on a crossing with about 300 children.
  11. Actually if you read your post, you said, ‘UHT should never be served…Fresh milk or nothing.’ I wonder what that meant other than suggesting it shouldn’t be served.
  12. Is that not offset a little by passengers pleased to see young children, possibly being reminded of their grandchildren, and by the crew, who are missing their own children?
  13. Of course, that is completely your choice, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be served. That sounds very stringent.
  14. Why should it not be served? Why should those like me who can’t tell the difference be deprived of milk in tea, if that is what they want?
  15. Surely not on Cunard. Most passengers I come across seem delightful at the injection of youth.
  16. It doesn’t take many: two badly behaved children in a swimming pool can ruin it for quite a lot of people. And, years ago, I was disturbed at night on QE2 by a group of male teenagers shouting and running about outside my cabin. It must be said that, when I finally stuck my head out of the door to remonstrate with them, they were clearly apologetic (probably recognising a teacher!) and disappeared somewhere else. But Cunard children are almost invariably delightful.
  17. Well one thing I can think of is to keep children under control and stop any teenagers being rowdy. And I am happy to say, in my experience, with one minor exception, that always happens. In general, behave in such a way that it doesn’t upset other passengers, though I admit some people are upset by strange things. So, basically, just like every day life.
  18. And it was there in post 2.
  19. I’ve never had a stern cabin, but shouldn’t 8181 be on Deck 8?
  20. I think Cunard and White Star were merged in the 1930s.
  21. On QA in May it was 1.30 to 3pm, according to the DP.
