  1. I can help with the port times in Livirno!

I rang P&O last week for our cruise from Genoa on 19th August and they told me that we are in port from 7am to 11pm, need to be back on ship at 10.30pm.

Do you need any other port times?

  2. I have just checked my guest statement from our 31st May sailing on the Allure and the total cost for 2 people taking the premium package was $878.08.

$439.04 per person. We bought our package as soon as we embarked.

With the cruise being port intensive I would say we broke even, and that included the day in Marseille when we stayed onboard.

  3. So, I was just in Civitavecchia on the Allure this week.

We took the free port shuttle, there were tourist maps available at the drop off point.

We used them to walk to Pirgo beach (very close to train station) which took 15/20 minutes. We rented sun loungers for 4 euros each. After a chilled morning, we had lunch at one of the restaurants behind the beach. It was called Mastro Titta and was the best pizza we had ever had, 16€ for two people and we couldn't finish it!

After lunch we used the map to walk around the town, it was lovely and very quiet.

    We have a great day!

  4. Tell Me on a Sunday is touring the UK next year with Jodie Prenger as the lead role.

I wonder if she is starring in the performance on the Allure at the moment?

Anyhow, we will go and see it when we are onboard next week.

This is the write up for the show for next year when it tours the UK...........

Tell Me On A Sunday Overview

Following her acclaimed performance in the Watermill’s 2014 production of Calamity Jane, Jodie Prenger now steps into Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black’s classic musical, Tell Me On A Sunday.

Tell Me On A Sunday charts the romantic misadventures of a young English girl in New York in the heady days of the 1980’s. Brimming with optimism, she seeks success and love. But as she weaves her way through the maze of the city and her own anxieties, frustrations and heartaches she begins to wonder whether she's been looking for love in all the wrong places. This iconic musical, with a wonderful original score, features Unexpected Song the chart-topping Take That Look Off Your Face and title track Tell Me on A Sunday.

Originally conceived for television, Tell Me On A Sunday has been performed by many legendary musical theatre stars including Marti Webb and Sarah Brightman. This new 2016 production directed by Paul Foster includes an intimate post-show chat with Jodie about life, love and playing the role of Emma.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s numerous awards include 7 Tonys, 3 Grammys, 7 Olivier’s, a Golden Globe, an Oscar, 2 Emmys and the Richard Rodgers Award for Excellence in Musical Theatre. Don Black is an Oscar winning lyrist (Born Free) and penned numerous James Bond theme tunes, and chart hits Michael Jackson’s Ben and Lulu’s To Sir With Love.

  5. Hi Lobbylin,

Royal Caribbean did not provide any shuttle buses to the city centre but there were plenty of taxi's at the terminal.

The price list the ladies at cruise terminal gave to us showed the price to Shurijo Castle was approx 1280yen. (£8)

We showed this to the taxi driver and that is what he charged us.

The taxi back to the cruise terminal was around £5 I seem to recall, it wasn't very far.

  6. When we were in Hong Kong a few weeks ago we went to the Hotel Intercontinental on Salisbury Road to view the lights.

We had drinks in the Lobby Bar and had a fantastic view of the waterfront and the laser show. :D

  7. We didn't dock until 2pm and left the ship around 3.30pm. I didn't see any tour guides at the cruise port but there was a tourist information desk and the ladies spoke good english, gave out maps and we very helpful.

I am sure you could hire a taxi for a few hours to take you around.

We took a taxi to Shurijo castle and spent a few hours there, it was very interesting although totally rebuilt as it was destroyed in WWII. We were also lucky enough to see traditional Japanese dancers performing there, they do this twice a day I think.

We then walked ten minutes to catch the monorail and got off at the end of the busy shopping street called Kokusai Dori or International Street. It was full of weird and wonderful shops selling bizarre gifts such as tins of Spam and snakes in jars of alcohol!! Also plenty of restaurants both traditional and modern, even a Starbucks.

At the end of the street there was a taxi rank and it was just a short ride back to the ship.

As we were in port until 2pm the following day we booked a ship excursion to go to the underground WWII Japanese Naval Headquarters and the Memorial for the Battle of Okinawa. It was all really interesting but there was some walking involved.

Overall we managed very well despite speaking very little Japanese. The taxi driver had very limited English but the information and map provided by the ladies at the cruise terminal was very useful to point at, it also had printed on it taxi prices to various tourist locations so we knew we wouldn't be overcharged.

    Hope this all helps!

  8. We were there last week. I don't know how quickly you will be able to get off your ship but Voyager of the Seas was cleared about 15 minutes after docking, although if this is your first port of call in Japan you may have to go through immigration. We did this in Nagasaki and it took about ten minutes.

Also, our ship let all the passengers off first who had tours booked through the cruise line.

Regarding taxi's.....there were plenty lining up just outside the entrance to the cruise terminal.

    Enjoy your trip!

  9. Yes, the cabs were queueing up at the port.

We came off the ship about an hour after the organised tours had left and there were plenty. There were about 30 people in front of us and we waited no more than 10 minutes for a cab.

There was an information desk in the port terminal, the ladies spoke good English and marked places on a map for us, they also gave us a printed sheet of cab prices to the popular tourist spots.

There was also good free wifi in the port terminal, you just have to use the password that was printed on a poster/sign on the wall.

  10. We were also in Okinawa last week on Voyager of the Seas.

We took a cab from the port to Shurijo Castle, 1280 yen.

The castle was interesting and we also had afternoon tea there for 310 yen each.

We then walked down to the monorail station and took it to Kokusaidori Street. It was easy to buy tickets as the machines have an English option and there are also announcements on the train in English..

Kokusaidori Street was full of shops selling lots of weird and wonderful trinkets and souvenirs.....snakes in jars of alcohol, jackets for cats and dogs and even tins of spam ! There is also a market about halfway along the street and plenty of restaurants. We had some excellent sashimi.

At the end of the street we took a taxi back to the port which I think was around 800 yen.

    Hope this helps.
