Yes, very tricky way to get people to read your post.  "Did s/he misspell it, or is a cute headline intended to get excited readers?"

    Guess we'll never know...

I just submitted my status match this week. I guess it depends on the region where you are, I submitted to the German MSC division. The status match took only 1 day! 😁

I came from Norwegian Latitudes Platinum and was assigned MSC Gold.

I submitted mine on April 21 and got a response on April 23, so one business day (I'm in the US).  It might have been sped up by the fact that my husband did the match a week earlier, but we hadn't booked the cruise yet, so I think not.  Got a 2-for-1 cruise that had had a price drop in one week, so we got a 7-day cruise out of Venice in November for $459 each, and that included Fantastica level benefits.  I level-matched from NCL Platinum to Gold.  Now for a whole new experience...

  3. Everyone,

Going on the Sky in January 2019. We get to the port at 6 am at the end of the cruise, but our flight home isn't until 5 pm, and we'd like to spend some time touristing in Miami. Is there a place we can check our bags for the day? Or can we check them in in the morning at the airport and then go back into Miami for a little while before heading back out to the airport?

NOTE: We disembark on MLK Day, so some places might be closed.

  4. Hubby and I have the "beds together" preference in our NCL profiles. We always get on the ship and they're separate. Two men traveling together, different last names = separate beds.

It's really no problem to have the steward change the configuration. My only question is: why give the option on the website if they're not going to use it?

  5. I see someone made a comment about their roll call: It seems roll calls are just not going as well as they did in the past. We have noticed a slow down in the past few cruises and for certain, the Dawn was the worst we have seen, but this is another topic altogether.

I think the Book of Faces is rapidly taking on this duty, unfortunately. I see a LOT of traffic on the FB pages for all kinds of NCL cruises. Sigh.

  6. DH and I were looking at this cruise, but discovered that we didn't haven enough vacation time to do it properly. We were both laid off in 2016, and both started new jobs in 2017, so our vacation clocks dropped back to two weeks of leave per year. (Frustrating American leave policies.)

We wish you the best, because this itinerary looks wonderful!

  7. I would suggest that the marketing department of NCL go back to grade school and review the meaning of unlimited.

I work for the American Marketing Association, the trade association for marketers in North America. We've had marketers from MSC attend some of our training sessions; perhaps I should work on getting NCL's folks in.

  8. I don't know if you live in Boston or not; if you do, this advice won't work for you.

We're taking the Dawn from Boston to Quebec in September/October. We were initially looking at open jaw plane tickets, and they were pretty expensive. Then we looked at booking two one-ways, and they were much cheaper. So we're flying from Chicago to Boston, taking the cruise, then flying Quebec to Chicago afterwards.

So if you're thinking of how to get back to Boston to fly home (and if you haven't already bought your plane tickets), look into flying home from Quebec.

  9. Loyalty match question: does MSC match your loyalty level on all your cruises with them, or only the first one? I've heard it's only the first one, but just want verification. Thanks!

  10. 14 June 2019, 12 nights Norway & North Cape: (Southampton - Stavanger - Trondheim - Svartisen - Hammerfest - Honningsvag - Geiranger - Flam - Haugesund - Southampton)

Hubby and I are looking at this one. What I find annoying is that similar cruises in 2018 are less than half price of the 2019 cruises. $1749pp inside for 12 days. I guess being above the arctic circle on solstice is worth something, but that much?

  11. I don't have a real basis for comparison, but several times, I've been right around the corner from the elevators, or even backing onto the elevator shaft, and I've heard nothing. I would think that might be quieter than being under the galley. I also haven't heard loud noises from the people getting onto/getting off of/waiting for elevators.

  12. Last December we got off the Spirit as soon as we could after they docked. We had a 10:40 flight to Newark, and we took a taxi and we were at the airport before the ticket desk for United opened. I think you could do it, but it could cause you a lot of stress.

I am Platinum and had suite benefits, so I had help getting off the ship, too.

  13. Better question, has anyone from CC set one up?

It really depends on the amount of interest from the roll call.

That's sort of why I asked. I've coordinated several M&Gs, but on longer cruises. As there's no sea day, I was wondering if/how they do them.

  14. Last November/December we were on the Spirit and disembarked in Barcelona early in the morning; early enough to take a taxi and to be ready for our 10:40 am flight at the airport--before the checkin desk even opened! I'm not sure if your cruise is scheduled for an early disembarkment (I think we were scheduled for a 6 am arrival?).

  15. Sorry for the slow reply. We are booked in cabin 10653, which was the cabin we selected (we like the sideways insides). This is cabin type 1A. We were only charged for a cabin type of 1F. That difference of $50pp was our benefit for picking our cruise on the ship.

However, we were originally on the October 12 sailing, but had to change for work reasons to the September 28 sailing, and by doing that the prices had gone up a little, so we ended up paying what we would have paid had we not gotten the discount. I don't blame that on NCL--I put that on me, because I am still in the first year of my job and didn't think to look to see when our Board Meetings are going to be, and of course they're scheduled for the week of October 15...

    --Michael

  16. It's an additional level upgrade within your cabin category. So you would get BA balcony for the price of a BB, for example. I would post the onboard flyer but the upload isn't working for me while on the ship.
Yep, this is what we got. Got one of the highest graded inside rooms for the cheapest inside room price.
