  1. Where did you get that forecast?

Today show, Al Roker. Yesterday he said that the weekend storm could be measured in feet. Whether it affects us will depend where it hits. They won't give definitive predictions until much closer. I'm actually more worried about PA than MD. For now, I'm just watching and waiting!

  2. Or DH will be stuck in Baltimore waiting for them to handle the snow, and PA to open the roads. YOU will be on a cruise :D:D Just kidding. Hope for the best but go a day early if necessary. Wish I could get away from this snow too.

    Happy Sails!!

DH will need to get home to the poochies! If it's looking bad, we will get a room and take a cab if necessary. No way I'm missing it!

  3. This makes no sense to me. You select which type of dining you want when you book, but purchase FTTF after. How is FTTF helping with selecting early, late or ATD???:confused:

Not everyone gets the dining they want on the first day you can go to the maître d and request a change. FTTF and platinum ( I think ) get priority. Diamond (I think) gets a guaranteed.

  4. As it gets closer if the weather forecast is still predicting heavy snow you could reserve a room at one of the park and cruise hotels, the price shouldn't be too much more then just parking at the port and you wouldn't have to worry about the drive as much because you would have a whole extra day to arrive.

That is what I will likely do, but my DH is a landlubber and won't be joining us. So, as things stand right now, he will just be dropping us off on Sunday. But I'll swim out to meet her if that's what it takes! I'm going on this cruise!

  5. Well, if your not reporting"live", which I can really understand as it is really expensive, and I wouldn't do it by a long shot, but at the end of the cruise would you be willing to do review, so those of us who would like to do a cruise later could benefit by your review. Just so you know that you don't have to do a review, but it's a thought:D

I will make every effort! I will be taking notes and photos! But, if my kids don't start going to school (stupid snow!) I'll never get the time! ;)

  6. I'm currently booked for anytime, but the other two options are still available so I could change it. I'm also considering getting FTTF, and I see that there is some priority seating deal, which I assume I wouldn't get that perk if I keep anytime dining. Right? How does that work if you know?

    thanks

No. That perk gives you priority as to what type of dining you want (early, late, or ATD) but no benefit once you have chosen.

  7. I asked John Heald that very question on FB this morning. This is what he said:

Please don't worry, it has been my experience in the last 26 years at sea to not worry too much about the weather as it changes so often the long term forecast always seem to be incorrect. We am very prepared for all weather conditions including snow and all you have to worry about is getting to the ship safely. Once on board you will be cocooned in a wonderful and fun atmosphere and everything will be running ready for you to give you the best of times. Please let me know if you have any other worries or concerns or need anything and I will be here for you. Have fun

I'm not so much worried about the port or the ship sailing. I'm a little worried about getting TO the port if it's really bad. MD isn't especially used to very large snows, and PA has been known to close roads to all but emergency vehicles...

  8. I am considering this for my DD11, DS9, and myself for our cruise next week?just wondering if anyone had any strong opinions either way. I know I could probably get a less expensive tour booking independently, but I like the security of doing it through the ship, especially traveling with my two kids. Just wondering if you did it and if it was worth the expense. What were the high and low points? Also, if you purchased photos, any recollection as to how much.

    Thanks!

  9. Trivia as all I can think of. But I was going to suggest you contact John Heald on his Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/JohnHeald and give him your cabin# the day before you sail and he will send him one. But since he wants to win it on his own maybe play trivia.

Thank you! I thought for a second about John Heald, but he wants to actually win one. And, with the loss of his father, John has more important things now than a SOS for my son. DS will survive if he doesn't get one. He just won't be happy about it;)

  10. Thanks for a great review! I was kind of bummed that we would be going under the bridges in the dark next Sunday night. Duh! I forgot that we would be returning in daylight!

I would dearly love to see Fun Times if you get the chance to post them. We would like to spend one of our port days on the ship and we haven't decided between Nassau and Freeport. Having an idea what goes on onboard those days would help make the decision!

  11. My two kids and I are leaving a week from today on the Pride. My 9yo son (who hasn't cruised in 4 years) has two goals to make his vacation complete. He wants to eat a lot of chocolate ice cream (he suggested I only pack brown t-shirts so the drips won't show) and to win a Ship-on-a-Stick.

What is his best chance for a SOS? Are there many opportunities in Camp Carnival? He is super athletic, but obviously just a kid, so I don't think he would be competitive in, for example, a free throw contest with adults. He's awesome at shuffle board. Would he be allowed in a shuffleboard competition with adults? Trivia is probably out except perhaps if he got lucky in a multiple-choice competition.

Don't get me wrong. He will be fine if he doesn't win one, and he only wants to win one on his own merits. I'm only looking for as many kid-friendly opportunities as possible.

Now...I need some brown shirts ;)

  12. Just a little bit of info about the Balmoral excursion :o...I had it booked for both legs of my B2B 12/27/2013 & 1/4/2014 on the Splendor. We were to meet on the pier at 12 noon (we had arrived in Nassau at 11AM). We walked to the excursion boat en mass & boarded it. Then it took a half hour to get to the resort ...time elapsed since meeting on the pier: 1 1/2 hours !

When we approached the dock at Balmoral at 1:30, it was apparent that there were no lounge chairs available on the beach...because 3 other excursions from other ships were already there :(.

Additionally, the ocean was so incredibly shallow...I had to walk out a couple of hundred feet...and still the ocean only came up to my thighs. No wave action whatsoever.

The "deluxe" lunch was a hamburger & fries ....can we say McDonald's?

It was a pretty place, but that's about it. I cancelled my Balmoral excursion for the 2nd leg of my B2B. Perhaps you'll be lucky & will be either the only ship in Nassau that day, or the 1st ship in Nassau that day...therefore early arrival at Balmoral. Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up! I was contemplating the dolphin encounter next week, but we will be one of 5 ships in port. I think I'll pass!

  13. although i think the title "be warned" is not appropriate...(there are many children that love the camp)......i really wish everyone would stop judging this lady.

We are all different....all families are different.

If she wanted to spend time with her hubby....i see nothing wrong with that. If one wants to spend 24/7 with their children.....i see nothing wrong with that either. It really irks me when people think they are the judge and jury in other peoples lives. Ok...i'm done. Where is my wine? :o

    this!

  14. Does anyone know if the MDR is open for lunch the first day? Or is it just buffet? I can't remember. Thanks!

    Carnival Pride Feb 9/14

    Disney Fantasy Sept 28/13

    Carnival Pride Feb 8/13

Just the buffet, 3boys. Nine days until we sail!! SO excited and so hoping we don't get 3 feet of snow dropped on us!!!
