  1. Thanks for the review! Sounds like you had a fantastic cruise. We are doing this exact itinerary in September and are SO excited. Like you, we are cruising with a group. Many of which have never been on a ship like Oasis class. Also the first cruise that the kids will remember (my son is 5 now but was 7 months when we last cruised) Thanks for the suggestion on the cathedral in San Juan. I will add it to the list of places to checkout. Such a short stop there so I’m certain we will just do a walking tour as well. Did it seem like a fairly safe port? We’ve never been there before. I do wish we had more time there.

  2. Ugh I’ve had the worst cruise fever lately! We are cruising in September on Oasis and can’t wait. We haven’t done a cruise in 5 years 😳 Today we are heading to Jetty Park to enjoy a beach day and watch the ships with all of the family that’s cruising with us. I can’t wait to see the reaction of the kids when Oasis comes into view! Three of the four kids have been on Disney Dream but they don’t remember it as they were little. I’m not sure if seeing the ships today is going to help or hurt my cruise fever 🙈 Before our son was born we would cruise every other year. I’m hoping we can get back to that or better yet, every year 😬 Just need to keep my eyes open for the kids sail free promos!

  3. Yep, you still can qualify as long as you haven’t yet reached date for final payment. We have a family cruise in September on Oasis with four cabins that my mom booked like a year ago. We called and in the course of 20 minutes she saved $2800 😳 Plus each room got $100 OBC 😳😳 My mom was ecstatic and kept thanking me for pushing her to call. All aspects of our reservation remained the same except we had to switch from a refundable deposit to non refundable. Keep us posted on if the sale works out for you!

  4. Thanks for the review! I enjoyed reading it and seeing the pictures. We are gearing up for a big family cruise in September on Oasis and can’t wait. Cruising with several children, but much younger than yours. We’ve done Allure but not Oasis. It’s also our first time experiencing the kids programs on Royal as we haven’t taken our son on a cruise since he was 7 months old.

  5. Sounds like you have a good chance to save some money. Good luck!

So we called today and the rep was so nice and very helpful. All cabins had a price drop from what my mom had originally paid. Overall she saved $2800 :o:o She obviously is thrilled! They did have to switch it to a non refundable deposit but that’s fine at this point. Each room also received $100 OBC. I still can’t believe the savings. She wasn’t going to call based on a bad experience a few months ago with a Royal rep but you can bet she’s happy she did! Well worth her 20 minutes on the phone. Thanks to those that answered my questions and encouraged us to call.

  6. Others may be able to confirm, but in the past, the kids sail free prices did not apply to kids who were the first two guests in a stateroom.

Yes I think you are right. I should clarify that we have two rooms with 2 adults in each plus 1-2 kids so we should qualify on those. There is one room with no kids and one with a child as guest 2

  7. Contact whoever booked your cruise and ask them to check if your fares have dropped.

We booked directly through RC so I’ll have my mom call them tomorrow. I just did a mock booking and I believe our room went down $400! We have two other rooms with kids in it so this will help a ton. Thanks

  8. We are doing a family cruise in September on Oasis. Have four rooms booked with four kids total. If the new price is lower with the sale can we get a discount and keep same rooms? How do we go about doing this? My mom booked all the rooms and is paying for the cruise and I’d love to help her save some money if at all possible. Thanks so much

  9. Curious if Oasis has any family/ Companion restrooms available? We sail in September and our 5 year old son is very sensitive to loud noises. Public restrooms are difficult for him because of the constant flushing and hand dyers. When out and about I try to use the single restrooms if available because it’s so much less stressful on us both. I’m hoping these type exist on the ship as I imagine it won’t always be feasible to go back to the room. The toilets on cruise ships are SO loud. Also do the public restrooms have hand dryers? Thanks

  10. we are sailing on Oasis of the Seas in September. My son (age 5) will be doing his second cruise, but was just a baby on first. I’m concerned about the muster drill. We haven’t cruised RC since 2011 and I’m a little foggy on the details. Will the alarms be going off throughout the muster drill? Do we stand outside like in the old days, or are muster stations inside? He’s very sensitive to loud noises and I’m dreading the drill if the alarms are going off for several minutes. I can bring his noise canceling headphones if needed. Just hoping someone has some insight as to how to not make this a stressful experience for all. Thanks so much!

  11. Any pictures of your cabin and balcony? We are at the beginning of the hump when we go in 2 weeks. Can't wait! :D

That's funny- I was going to ask the exact same thing :). We are on Allure on 10/2 and have cabin 8190. I believe the balcony is slightly larger than the other D5's, but have never been able to find a photo of one!!

Ginnyfyr- glad to hear you enjoyed your cruise and look forward to your pictures :)

  12. I too tried finding pictures when researching our upcoming Allure cruise. I didn't have any luck at the time, but will watch this thread in hopes that someone answers you :)

That being said, we did go ahead and book a D5 at the end of the hump. (on 8th floor but can't remember exact room number off hand!) I am just thrilled to have a balcony again after our last cruise in an oceanview room on Monarch. A slightly larger sized balcony will just be a bonus in my mind!!

    Good luck with your research!

  13. Thanks so much for your wonderful review. I am certainly enjoying the pictures and everything you have to say about this ship! I was wondering if you have a picture of the balcony? My husband and I are sailing on Allure next October and we too have a balcony at the end of the hump (although ours is a D5). I have been very curious to see what the balcony looks like given that it is an odd shape. Thanks again and I look forward to reading the rest of your review!

  14. I've got 8590 booked for same reason but still have a year to wait before seeing it. Have only been able to confirm the balcony is "angled" as it opens out to the D1's behind it - apparently, no one that frequents these boards has stayed in one of them. And I thought it was at the beginning of the hump, not the end...

I am beginning to get the same impression that perhaps none of the Cruise Critic regulars have booked this room. Oh well, like you said we shall just have to wait and see! Just adds to the excitement of it all. Heck, after having an oceanview cabin on my last cruise (Monarch) any room with a balcony will do!

(and I think you might be right, the room is at the beginning and not the end of the hump! my error :o)
