  1. DEIx15x8,

Thanks for sharing this video and information. Have never been to Labadee, and will be making our first visit in July. Question for you. I'm thinking we set down at Columbus Cove. We are planning the water park and rollercoaster package, combined takes an hour and a half. We'd also like to relax on the beach and enjoy the water. Do you think we will also have time to try out the water slide, or will that be cramming too much in? And where is the water slide? I have not seen it on any map so far.

    Thanks!

  2. Aquaman,

That really sucks! You have every right to be angry. Don't let anyone on this board make you feel otherwise.

Another suggestion - should you need to call RCI again in this matter, try calling their Crown & Anchor number, not the main reservation number. I recently had a problem with a RCI booking a few weeks back. Was due to a computer glitch whereby the great rate I booked suddenly changed the next day. Long story short, I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with reservations at night with no resolution. The next day RCI fixed my rate, but it was still not right. This time, I called the C & A line. I got through to someone in minutes, and had my problem more than fairly resolved within a half hour. They treated me as a loyal customer, which was greatly appreciated.

Your seven cruises with them should mean something. Calling the C & A number might make a difference.

  3. klfrodo, Philob,

Thank you both for your very quick and very helpful feedback. It never ceases to amaze me how helpful the folks are on these CC boards.

I never thought to call my personal medical insurer. That was a great suggestion! I learned that I actually have excellent international/emergency medical coverage. I would be covered under my current policy (once I fulfill my $3000 deductible) up to 90% of the cost. This got me thinking, perhaps I don't need to pay so much for a large amount of emergency medical coverage with my Travel insurance policy knowing that that I have this cushion. I still like the idea of carrying primary medical on my travel insurance, but I'm thinking 50k is probably more than enough. My thinking here is the likelihood that I will need medical attention is low (this is our 9th cruise, and thankfully have never required this), but should we need it, chances are they should not be major expenses. If I use my personal medical, I'm on my own dime until I hit my deductible, so some minor medical costs would be out of pocket. Am I wrong thinking this way?

So any way, I called insuremytrip.com, and I got through to an agent very quickly, and he was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I learned that only the Travelex policies that they offer truly provide primary coverage. I can get a policy for $160 or $172 through them that provide adequate coverage. I'm leaning toward the latter (Travelex Select) because it offers 50k primary medical, and 500k medical evacuation.

I do have one last question, perhaps someone here knows. I tried to call my health insurance back to ask this, but they were closed and don't open again till Monday. Let's say I buy this Travelex Select policy, and heaven forbid, one of us requires medical treatment in excess of the 50k per person max. Will my personal health insurance then kick in and pick up any excess (of course according to their terms - that I hit the deductible first, then at 90%)?

    Thanks again!

  4. I'm struggling over all the choices for travel insurance for my upcoming 9 night Caribbean cruise. My biggest concern is over the amount of emergency medical coverage we need. I am only considering policies that have primary medical coverage, but how much is enough? My wife and I are around 50, our daughter 11, and all in good health. Is 50k/person enough coverage? 100k? More? And how much emergency evacuation is recommended?

    Thanks for your input!

  5. So I just wanted to let this board know that my issue was FINALLY resolved. I received an email around 6:00 pm this evening as promised containing a copy of our Guest Invoice. The price was adjusted down as promised. Only one problem. It was still $25 more than it was originally! Ordinarily, I would not have fretted over such a small difference, but having just spent two and a half hours on the line with them last night, this has become a real sticking point with me.

I took clarea's advise and called them using the C & A number, not the regular reservations number I used last night. I am very happy to report, that my call was picked up in three minutes, and though I had to spend another 27 minutes on the line with them, in the end I got the final adjustment made, and I am once again a happy camper. :)

I will tell you, any excursions I need to make or other reservations or packages we need, I will NOT do it over the website, but rather will call the C & A line. I'm a little leery of doing online check it too, but will likely risk that as does make the boarding process that much easier.

Good luck to anyone else who faces this challenge. Hopefully RCI works out their technology issues real soon!

  6. Well, after staying on the phone with RCI last night for two and a half hours, my issue has still not been resolved. The rep I spoke with was very helpful, and clearly frustrated herself. She herself could not resolve the pricing error, although she could clearly see it was wrong. She had to speak to another dept and after waiting forever learned that this other dept needed to contact another dept to correct this for us, and that final dept was gone for the day. Amazing to me that such a major cruise line could be run like this. So any way, I'm told that I will receive an email tody when this is resolved. I'll believe it when I see it. Till then, I totally wasted an entire evening on the phone trying to correct a wrong that should not have happened in the first place. I am one very disgruntled customer right now, and the cruise is still four months away. What else can happen? Do I dare do anything further on their website regarding our reservation?

  7. Same exact thing happened here! I've been booked for two days, paid initial deposit Sunday. All was well. Monday made My Time dining reservations. All was fine. Tonight I updated our reservation with my wife's C&A number, now it shows $1300 more!! Reading others here makes me think this is not so random. I have been on hold now with RCI for 2 hours trying to get this straightened out, and still no resolution. The woman trying to assist me keeps stating that she needs someone from "another department" to correct this, and no one from this mystery department has responded thus far.

    AGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!:mad::mad:

  8. Kopper36,

I think you are being too kind in your assessment of the RCI website. I recently booked a cruise on the website for the first time - usually use a travel agent. I experienced the same issues that you described, and more. I found prices of the cruise changing from moment to moment. One moment it reflected the latest promo, the next it didn't, then it did again. Also, when I finally got the price I wanted, I tried to hold it, and lost track of the number of times it threw me out trying hold it with errors right and left. I love my RCI cruises, but my 11 year old daughter with no web development experience could have developed a more functional, error free website than this. It is horrible.

So I was able to finally book a cruise (miracle of miracles!) and have since been able to set up my time dining for our trip, and added our Crown & Anchor numbers. Surprise, surprise, after making just a few changes, RCI's website repriced our trip, and it is now $1300 more expensive!! I'm waiting on hold now with RCI trying to straighten this out. I've been on the phone with them for an hour and a half, and still not fixed!! Someone shoot me now!

  9. Is St. Thomas the same time as us? i have the sea lion swim booked at Coral World for 11:15am - will that be the same as the ship time?

Our ship is due to arrive at 9am in St. Thomas -

St. Thomas is on the same time as the east coast. I too just came off the 9 night cruise from Bayonne on 6/23, we moved the clock one hour foward before Bermuda, then back an hour before St. Marten and St. Thomas as a previous cruiser wrote.

First medical evacuation I ever witnessed on a cruise also. Am just wondering if any fellow cruiser heard anything more about the person's condition?
