  1. I'm loving your review so far. It sounds like you had a wonderful time.

    Love the ropes course pictures!:D

I'm making lots of notes from your review - the tips are awesome by the way. I especially like the one about getting seating for the atrium shows upstairs! I love the drink pictures, and have made special notes to order them - they look so yummy.:D

    Can't wait to read more!!

  2. We have used the "full bag discount" laundry service in the past. Some of the things shrunk (or maybe I just ate too much...LOL)...

I had better luck when I sent/paid per piece...they do a good job on it.

My Mom was in the Deluxe Owners Suite (Epic 2012 April)....and she sent in a full bag....they lost all of her undies...LOL! She had to sit with a laundry rep to discuss what they looked like/value etc:o....it was quite embarrassing...but they were expensive undies...so she wanted to be compensated...they turned up a few hours later....LOL! We still laugh about it now...:D

  3. This is what it says on NCL.com (in the "money matters" section of the FAQ).

    Cash/Traveler's Checks Procedures

You can deposit cash or US Traveler's Checks into your onboard account.

A cash deposit may be placed on your account in the following amounts:

    7 day cruises - $300/person

    Less than 7 days - $150/person

    More than 7 days - $450/person

Once you have exceeded the deposited amount, your account will be closed to further charges. You can deposit as much money as often as you'd like throughout the cruise, however, refunds cannot be made until the day of disembarkation for any excess. US Traveler's Checks can be cashed onboard and are the same as cash.

**Personal checks will not be accepted, nor can they be cashed onboard.

It says that you get refunded the day of disembarkation....a check a few weeks later is NOT the same thing....I wouldn't be very happy....I'm glad I'm doing the credit card thing this time

  4. OP - That would be very frustrating to me...I hope you get your money soon. Please keep us updated.

I wasn't aware that they did it this way. In 2012 on the Epic I did a cash deposit on day one ($2100). I was told I wouldn't be able to access the unused balance until the last day of the cruise. I settled up at guest services on the final morning, and I received cash for the remaining balance (around $700) - it was painless. I wonder why they are doing check refunds now....that is weird and I just don't like it.

  5. I would love it if they offered a "photopass" option like they do at Disney. I hate that they print out all of those pictures, and then most get thrown away. I would love the option to pay one price, and get a CD of all my pictures. I think they had that option on my last cruise (April 2012 Epic), but I don't see it on any of the dailies that I've read through. It would also be great to have access to the pictures online when I get home and still have the option to buy them. Disney seems to find the photopass (now called memory maker) to be very lucrative...so NCL could make a lot of money with it as well.

Alternatively, I think they would sell more if they lowered the price for pictures.

  6. In your post, you listed some really great information. We have learned that our friend has upgraded us to the Haven as a surprise. One question I have, and it may seem silly, but you said that they will have things that you want in your room. Does this include bottled water and is there an extra charge for the water if so? If I can avoid bringing my own bottled water on the ship, I would love to do so!

    Thanks

    Hi Stacy,

It depends what room you are in.

The Deluxe Owners Suite and Owners Suite get unlimited bottled water.

All other Haven rooms get bottled water on embarkation day only.

I found a very useful amenities chart at the following link:

    http://thehaven.ncl.com/courtyard/

You need to click on amenities chart, and then scroll down on the right hand side under where it says "personalized service". If you can't find it, let me know and I will try to attach it.

  7. Great review and thank you for all of the useful info as well.

We want to do the Wine Lovers the Musical lunch too. It looks like the Kids club is not open during the show time. Do you know if children are allowed in the show (served lunch, but no wine of course :))? Or is there too much adult humor and is it not appropriate for children? My son is 10.

  8. Glad to help Cruisegirl2004 and Zinomiller,

When the bed is fully open to fit two people in the 2nd bedroom, the bathroom door will open, but it will hit the foot of the bed. The door opens wide enough for you to enter the bathroom. Someone posted a pic of the bed open with the door hitting the bed on cruisecritic, but I cant find it.

I hope both of you have wonderfully relaxing cruises, we had a fantastic time!

    Thanks again 52marv!

  9. Just incase anyone is following this thread and still looking for information on the 2-bedroom layout...

I got a really great response from 52marv on another thread:

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2009254

He had the room we will be staying in 16122 on the Getaway, and he confirmed that the lower bed in the 2nd bedroom can be made into a full size.

The thread has other AWESOME tips about the Getaway and the Haven, so please read if you are interested. 52marv had a wealth of knowledge about it, and compiled lots of tips.

  11. 52Marv - I can't thank you enough for taking the time to respond with all of the wonderful information. That was a truly kind thing to do.

You have made my day with the information and I will be taking all of your tips!! I hope many others see this info...it is GREAT!

Some more questions about the bed...when it is made up to a full size, it looks like the bathroom door will not open. Do you think that is true? I only ask because using the bathroom during the night is pretty crucial. (if that is true, we might be better off keeping it a single, and them sleeping apart). Is the bed in the living room a single or a double?

Thanks again...and you are just AWESOME! I hope to pay it forward when I return.
